I'm also from Gaia, and from what I know a lot of other members are from there as well.

To earn gold here is pretty much like Gaia, though you get more gold for the amount you type rather than the amount of times you post.

I was on Gaia a long time ago and when I decided to get back online, I found Mene and decided to stay. :) I think you'll find that Mene has many different qualities, mostly that it's small and doesn't have a 3D world, but I've found that I enjoy these better. Because it's small, you get to know more people...more! Haha, tambien, there are less people spamming and asking you to cyber. :D
