A tip for earning gold: Post in the forums as much as you can, you'll earn gold with each post and longer posts earn more gold. Also playing the games is a good way to get gold up fast.

I've been bouncing around the role-play forums quite a bit in the passed few days and I can tell you, literate RP is not lacking in this place.

Actually, I'm having trouble finding anyone who can't spell very well other than the occasional error that anyone could make. A lot of the people I seem to be running into are all around my age as well, I'm 19. ^^
