Technically, I'm not new to the site but I'm DEFINITELY new to the forums here and I haven't been on in ages.

Anyway, you guys can call me Madeline if you'd like. I'm a Whovian and a self-proclaimed Harry Potter nerd who needs to reread the books to refresh her memory. I also like steampunk, pocket watches, and old things (especially Victorian-era objects and clothing). :)

Um... Let's see... What else...

Oh! Um, I like vampires and all that sort of stuff. I also like to write and draw, though not very well yet. I'm working on that. :P

I think that's everything so I just want to take this moment to say hello again and.... yeah. ^^;

@Gypsea Rose

Haha. Thanks. :)

@RebelReplay

Isn't it? I would consider myself a fledgling steampunk, honestly, so I'm not entirely familiar with all of the different styles within it but the clothing is so nice sometimes. I wish I could make a sweet outfit like that and just decorate a future house or apartment in antique furniture and whatnot. Not gonna lie, I have a soft spot in my heart for Victorian houses. They're just so beautiful. ;u; /goes overboard

Hehe. It's a pleasure to meet you, too. :)

if you don't mind hunting second hand stores you might be a bit surprised what goody you can find that with just a little stitching here and there or none at all can be made steampunk. I have to say the best way to go about making an outfit in steampunk is to think of a character that would dress that way and then make the outfit around the character, it adds more depth to it.

Lol, I only know of a few myself. Definitely. I have always wanted a pair of goggles with apertures. Ohh! And the boots! With the leather buckles.

-Daydreams off-

Hmmm... Clockwork stuff..

if in Real life your wanting good goggles and have about 100 to 200 to drop on a pair, there is a guy that makes really good ones. you can find him at Steam Baby. he is really, really good and he does do custom orders if he has the time.

Hello, Madeline. Welcome to Mene. I'm a huge Potterhead myself, so I'm sure we'll get along great. I used to be quite into Doctor Who, and in general I do still love what the show stands for, I'm just sadly not a fan of Matt Smith. :c Anyway, I digress :sweat:

@Gypsea Rose

Oh definitely. I just need the time and cash to do it. lol

Speaking of second-hand shopping for stuff, I was at a huge tag sale the other day and I actually stumbled across this old trunk (not a steamer, but still pretty neat) and a spyglass (still worked, too). The guy with the trunk gave me such strange looks when I asked if it was for sale. It was, but I don't think he was expecting a teenager to be asking about an old trunk (or be carrying around a pocket watch, for that matter) and I surprised him. Which may or may not have been a good thing, but that depends on how you look at it.

I'll have to keep Steam Baby in mind! I'm also a fan of Gentleman's Emporium, too. Mostly for their shoes, but their clothing looks like it would be really nice if you're looking for something from the period.

@hippymiester

Haha. Thanks. :)

@RebelReplay

I've got a basic pair that I got at a local convention, but I love them so much. Just got to find something to put them with so they make sense. lol

Them boots. Speaking off boots. If you're ever in the market for some, I know Gentleman's Emporium got a bunch of ladies boots, but they might have some male ones, too. I haven't looked in that section. Welp.

@Bucket

Thanks. :D
I bet we will.

Haha. Digress away!

Matt Smith. Bleugh. I'm not a fan of him or Tennant , honestly. I much more prefer Eccleston. The other two are just too "pretty" for me, I guess. Their fangirls can be pretty bad, too. D:

Eccleston, though. He doesn't get any love and I suspect it's because he's not a pretty boy like the other two. :c
It's a shame since he was an absolutely brilliant Doctor.

Hay I loved Eccleston, it is sad he was on for only one season. the other two are ok but I loved David Tennant as Hamlet not as the doctor.

I'm a huge fan of Eccleston too! He was probably my favourite Doctor. However, I do feel obliged to say that I am a Tennant fan as well, possibly only because he's Scottish so I feel like we should bond over nationality. :lol:

Gentleman's Emporium you say. I have not heard of this place but thank you, I surely look into it. :shock:

Oh sorry for the miscommunication, I was referring to Madeline pair of goggles. I have seen very nice goggles at conventions. To be honest I dont know what a or who steambaby is? Is it a small infant with a fedish forsteampunk wear or at mechanical doll? both highly unlikely.

RebelReplay:
no Steambaby is the name of one of the two best brands of goggles out there that are hand made for steampunks. here is the link
I happen to know the owner of it. he is on the west coast of the US and gets all the way up to Seattle some times to sell. he was at all the SteamCons up there selling. he also provided the lead singer of Abney Park with his goggles
