I made an account because someone on tumblr mentioned here after seeing my gaia avatars, and wanted to know if I had any advice for avatars here.

Since I'd never even HEARD of memewsha, I thought it best I sign up before doing much. I'm not even sure what I'm doing, but I am guessing I get gold by posting. SIice that seems to be the only thing to do?

Neat-o. So, you have a knack for avatar design, eh? We have a nifty DAC feature that allows people to generate dream avatars using a database of all of the items we have to offer. Unfortunately, it's currently limited to donators, so I haven't the faintest idea if that will mean much to you or not. We also have an avatar chat area where people can discuss what they like about one anothers' avatars, offer advice, critiques, etc. as well as a lovely avatar making competition known as Project Mene (styled after Project Runway) which offers unique avatar making challenges to those who sign up to compete.

In terms of style, ours is definitely a bit different than Gaia's.

Also, you're right about the posting for gold, but you can also get gold from playing games and as prizes from certain threads on the site.

That is certainly fun sounding. I'm currently filling out that newbie adoption form thing. I am a little worried about messing something up, so I'm just being cautious. A new site, a new set of things to do, etc.

And no, the DAC feature doesn't help if it is open just to donators, sadly. I am not up to paying real money just yet.

And I can see the style is quite different! I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I will say it is nice that the avatars aren't bulky. Normalish heads, and lanky bodies seem to be the name of the game here. I look forward to being able to do more with everything.

Haha! Thank you! It took quite a bit of fiddling with the colors before I felt it was right. The default ones just didn't fit in how I wanted it. I am sure they would have been fine if my primary and secondary colors had been just green or just purple, but I wanted to use both of my favorite colors.

Spiffy! I just recently got the adoptions back up and running after a bit of a hiatus, so it's nice to see that folks still find it interesting/relevant. And no worries about messing things up, there's very little to 'mess up' and no one would mind if you did, honest! Seriously, the most common mistake is forgetting to ping (or not quite understanding how the pinging system works), in which case someone will ping me for you (if I don't see your app first).

Totally understandable. It took me ages before I was ready to donate, and some folks never donate at all. Whatever level of investment that people want to put into Mene is great and, hell, time is really just as good as money in terms of keeping the proverbial wheels turning. ^.^

It does take some getting used to, but it grows on you, and there's a lot of fun layering to be done with many of the outfits!

What is pinging? Is it the pm system?

And not being able to mess up too badly is a comfort, indeed.

Pinging is where you alert someone to a post. It works like this: Zira Angel:

You do it by using an @ then their username and a semicolon, so @ Seridano ; without the spaces would ping me, for example.

Oh! That is incredibly useful! Thank you for telling me how to do it, since I'd have just pm'd you. This seems much more direct. What an interesting system.

The sardine smash one has incredibly awkward controls. It is like trying to hit something with one eye closed. No true sense of perspective.

Welcome to Menewsha! I used to play ddr at home, till my metal dance pad stopped working T_T

Anyway! The only game I can handle playing is tetris, after you get 26,000 points you reach the gold cap of 50 gold per game. Though I don't pay it add much anymore.

What other avatar dress up communities have you been on?

Libra: I'm not sure if I'll be playing many games, since talking seems to have drawn me into it. But I may try again later.

Well, for dressing up, I was in Aywas for awhile, but not lately. I should probably go back to it, since I had a pretty nice avatar there. I think the friend that got me into it would be happy to see me back in it.

But mostly? I'm at gaia. I have an extensive clothing collection there, and various other things. It is the reason why I'm even here, since -as i said in a previous post here- a person on Tumblr asked if I had advice for fashion on Mene. I take pride in making Zira-av look the best I'm able.

I, well, I take my fake dolly dressup seriously. I want the person who asked that question to know I can actually answer questions with actual answers. I love dressing up my avatars a great deal.

And, haha, I love the corpse and zombie bases on this. They're really the reason I'm still on right now. I wanna dress up Zira-av! It will be so much fun! I look forward to getting more and more outfits, talking to people, and just spending time here.

Gaia has more or my items, but they're pushing spending money hard. I like it here from what little I've seen. I have friends on gaia, but I am likely going to encourage some to come here just for the atmosphere. You know?
