I haven't had any fines in a long time. I finish books faster then the due dates and the library is on the way home from work. xD

oh fines stink, but I've never had a problem 2 weeks is good enough to take books out for my son, I haven't taken any out for me in a while because I still have lots of my own to read books I wanna finish reading that I own hehe. The fines where i'm at are 10 cents a book and 1.00 a movie and yhou can rent movies for 3 days, I'm bad with the movies I do have to admit but I'm usually pretty good with books :D

oh, I get so many fines because I used to get about 40-50 books at a time XP but after reading kushiel's dart, my reading speed increased and I haven't had more than 10-20 books at a time ever since because now I can read about 1 regular hard cover book if I tried :)

well I couldn't take that many books out even if I wanted to, I could take a ton out for my son but I only take out 3 books for him, maybe for, and that's it, and if I wanted something I'd take out 1 at a time, and hope if there is a second one that would still be in the library when i was done with the first :D

My library is pretty good about fines. I've returned books a few weeks late and they didn't fine me anything. Something about a grace period. XD
I wish I had stable bookshelfs too. I have one we call the leaning tower of death. It was put together wrong...and isn't very safe to touch or wiggle around. I have two full sized shelves full and one half shelf full. All in my living room taking up half a wall.

leenie! Read silly!
@Melissa: Two of my cases are really old so they're warping in the center of the shelves, even though they have the least amount of books on them. @_@

One of my bookshelves has a few shelves that probably dip a little farther than they should, but my mom put it together and I trust her handiwork. The other one doesn't quite have enough on it to have that problem, yet, since it's so short and the shelves are so thick!

I'm afraid that my top shelf on one of my cases will start to warp soon. It's my comic shelf, and I have three of the Absolute Sandman's... Plus the other two I'm getting... @_@ (They weigh almost ten pounds each.)

I think the maximum number of books at my old library was 10-12 and I have no idea what it is here. I can only fit three or four books at the most in my backpack so I end up getting a few every week and having really staggered dates for they're due back.
Feel my Absolute Sandman related jealousy, Dream.

lol, that reminds me, I got to put some holds on the rest of the sandman series that I was planning to read.
oh, and I can fit about 5-8 more books in my backpack even with 3 textbooks and 2 binders in them - If I only had 1 Textbook and 1 Binder, I can fit about 20-25ish books in my backpack :) it's like playing backpack tetris XD - years and years of practice XD

I have a Chemistry lab on Friday mornings so my labcoat and goggles take up a lot of room. >.<
If I was willing to put up with the weight I could probably get more books in during the rest of the week.

This is so cool- I never knew OTHER people kept book lists. I'll have to post mine as soon as I get my hands on it. (It's weird the darn thing always turns up when I'm NOT looking for it.)
I'm a seinor in high school and to date have read 322 books since Freshman year. (The product of having no life.) :P

@Iltu: I know! There's other comics on that shelf as well so when ever I hear a bang that case is the first thing I look at. xD It seems sturdy for now though.
@Kat: I've been feeling that from a lot of people lately. :|
All work and no play, mean Dream can buy expensive books. :3
@LaVida: I play book tetris! With my pocketbook. I can fit two to three books in it (on top of my other crap in there) depending on the dimensions. ^_^
@VCA: I was probably up there in high school too. xD I read through most of my classes.

Just finished the final book of the Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel (ie: The Clan of the Cave Bear).
Bittersweet emotions now. Glad to have finally finished them; sad that the story is done.
It is a very special series to me for two reasons:
1) My grandmother read them and loved them (though she died before the last was completed), so she passed them to my mother, who loved them too and passed them to me.
2) I am studying to be an anthropologist. I had been thinking of changing my major, but these books (written by an anthropologist) have changed my mind.
