Does anyone play? I finally found a DM patient enough to teach me the ropes, as I've always wanted to play. I rolled my first character, and shes a Half-Elf Bard.
Her name is Leigh. :)
I used some old-ass computer program to roll her, for D&D V2, if anyone would like it, just PM me. :) She was rolled with roll method 5 I believe~!
So Mene, do you play? Would you like to? Or do you think D&D is only for nerds? Too confusion?

I played once. I made a character following the fourth edition players handbook, but I dunno about roll methods or anything like that. It was a lot of fun, and I'd like to get into it, but I recently moved cities and I don't know anyone here who I could play with.

It was luck that found me a DM to play with. I hung out with this guy once, and ended up meeting a bunch of his friends, one of which is the DM. Ironically enough, I'm friends with the people I met now, but not so much the guy who originally introduced us. Ahha. xD
Usually if there is a comic book store or a games store they'll host events. I know we have a shop called "Great Canadian Games and Hobbies" that hosts events every once and awhile. :)
You could try looking one up in your area. Great way to meet new people. ^^

I LOVE D&D. I've DMed 2 campaigns, one super long one that took a year+ to complete and one that started, and then people moved away, so we didn't get anywhere in it. I'm currently writing an entire world that can support many campaigns and is pretty well fleshed out. In the meantime, one of my friends is running a game right now, and we have a party of 5. I play a Longtooth Shifter Shaman named Willow. Her spirit companion is an Eagle Owl named Avira.
Oh yea, we play 4e. People give us crap for it since "3.5 is better," but whatever. To each his own. We bought 4e books when we were learning and stuck with them.
What version do y'all play?

Find a good comic/gaming shop. And I do mean a good one, you don't want a gross one that's full of creeps. It's nice to be around other people that like to play and you can get into some fun campaigns like that. Just watch out for jerk players. There seems to be an abundance of them.

I'm actually one of Tae's D&D compadres. She and I have done two campaigns.
I tend to play fighter/striker type characters and I'm on the side of the elfs.
Don't give me a character that uses magic I won't know what the hell to do with it.
My current character is an elf stirke name AEria (that's an Old English aesch but I'm to lazy to figure out the shortcut for it).
However, my last character who was my favorite every and is way to much of a strong personality was a half-elf rouge named Kyren.

I would love to play it sometime. My husband said he wants to play sometime too. We have some friends of ours who might might be interested, but not sure when we would get together to play it.
I love to create the characters and travel on a wonderful adventure!

Does anyone have any funny D&D stories?
Just during our last game, the party's paladin stabbed a goblin through with his spear, picked the spear up, and stabbed yet another goblin, effectively making a goblin shish-kabob.

I had my rogue who was trained in dexterity and seriously really should even fall into the phrase of 'clumsy' but I fumbled and rolled a one and so my rogue fell of the log crossing the river. While our dragonborn companion (who once brought a swarm of zombies upon our heads by stepping on a branch and to much 'clink clink clink' ) did cartwheels across.

I used to play Dungeons and Dragons but just don't play much anymore because all of my friends I used to play with live to far away and the new ones I made who I played with were not the best players...
Finding quality players who know and really enjoy playing the game is difficult.
My main and longest running character by the way was also a half-elf bard named Lucas Rainwood... I got him up to level twelve... been playing him at least three in a half years now lol.

Used to play D&D with my older brother and his friends when I was around 10-12.
It was awesome, but I got bored with the style of it.
We played about 4 campaigns.
The best one, god, I was a halfling rogue, and we were living in a cave. We went on a dungeon hunt, and in a fight, I ended up setting off a trap, and being turned to stone. So what does my party do? They pick me up take me home, and put me outside the cave entrance, and called me the Garden Gnome.
Thankfully my DM took pity on me since our mage was useless, and had a random wizard come by and change me back out of the goodness of his heart. Thanks party....thanks....
The best place in my city to get gaming stuff, is called Dragons Den. Its uber awesome.
I currently play Dark Heresy, which is a table-top-dice-roll-role-play along the same lines, but follows the Warhammer 40K universe. I play it with my BF and our friends. We're on our 3rd campaign now. If anyone is curious about DH, feel free to ask me, its totally awesome.

Do I play...yes and no. Will I play, yes, probably. Do I enjoy playing, no usually. I've had a string of terrible DMs and, while I know that this is not the system's fault, it's one quite a bit to turn me off of it so, now, whenever someone wants me to play DnD, it takes a whole lot of convincing and I tend to be quite likely to drop out when hings go south (as they often do, in my experience). Of course, a great many of my friends have had a grand old time with it.
My table top system of choice tends to be White Wolf's World of Darkness (new WoD for those of you who compare).

I played one campaign. My character was a barbarian minotaur. I named him Xerxes, but nobody really used his name since he never said anything. He just liked to smash things. :D
And I probably won't ever get to play another since our DM has kind of dropped out of college, at least for the time being.

Lmfaoo!
I play a half-elf bard as well!
She's in denial though.
Less than ideal home situation has led to loathing of all things elven, and she even denies her Elven heritage, from her ears to the language, though she understands it a little.
My friend and I are going to create tiefling sisters.

How do things go South?
Lazy DMs?
I know the campaign I joined is full of shennanigans, but that totally fit our band of misfits.

Either things get out of hand (ridiculously silly in a serious campaign, for example), or the DM chooses to focus on certain people while basically ignoring others (leading to boredom and general discontent), or someone decides that something done in character ought to personally offend them out of character, for whatever reason, and so forth.

Well not funny haha, but funny.
Our DM knows his troupe of adventurers, and in introducing my character, he had the current adevnturers destroy my entire town? village? There were a couples thousand people, either way, that's a fun way to form relationships with characters.

Ahh, that does sound like an awful DM - from what I've heard, mine is really good. Due to work and sickness I've actually missed the first two games. I think I'm gonna have to sit out till the adventure comes, or work with the DM to have my character come in...
She's a naive bard, so really she could randomly come upon the group while strumming her lute~!

i ADORE dungeons and dragons! q 3 q <33 it's so
much fun~! i've played with 2.0, 3.5, and 4.0~ o 3 o
although, i'm a HUUUUUGE nerd, and geek, and asian,
and every other derogatory term for someone who's into
things with a zealous, fan-boy-ish attitude ~ o 3 o
my very first character was a elven ranger who i got up
to level fifteen. o 3 o <33 then after that, i went ahead
and modded some stuff and made a version of it specifically
for medieval oriental places. o u o <33
i had the short 2.0 campaign, but it was with a very
VERY green DM, so i had to co-DM from the back seat to
make sure the campaign went well. it disolved after i
couldn't make it regularly. o 3 o <33
i recently got involved with a group here in my dorms
(so happy!)~ this time i'm a telepathic mage who was
banished from my temple after revealing their dark, homo
secrets. o u o <33 i flirt with everyone * 7 * mostly men
though. o 3 o <33
but i'm glad you're getting into it! DnD is something that
once you start, you can never really run away from. > u <
it's uuuuber fun, and a great way to make a lot of new and
interesting friends. o 3 o <33

I've played D&D 4e and Pathfinder (based off of the D&D 3.5e stats) and looooved it.
My characters:
Uxia'Delyl: Drow Warlock
Metannallia: Human Shaman
Rave: Human Fighter
Orianne: Half-elf Druid
Elise: Human Wizard (Pathfinder/3.5)
I know Wyrmskyld: was thinking about hosting a game at one point in the Roleplay section of the RP forums, but she's been a bit busy lately with several various things (medical such-and-such, job hunting, etc.) so it's still in a very speculative space. It would be based off of 4e. ...It's kind of funny because I know for a fact that she is DMing a game as I post this... xD
: ( I miss gaming. I know a few people here that play but none of us have the time to put a party together. It's been YEARS since I've had a group and aaaarg. I have serious gaming envy any and every time I hear people talking about it.
