Welcome to the Gears and Wires Hangout!!

Why hello there! Never made one of these hangouts before, so why not give it a shot!! XD

The name is CrossHatch, just a friendly ol' robot, wanting to hang out and chat with the awesome inhabitants of Menewsha!

So come on in, grab a seat and let's chat for a bit shall we? Don't worry, I wasn't programmed to bite!

So, uh... *does a robot dance to greet the humans*

Yup, and if you offer me a crystal pepsi, I'll dance even more!! XD And also, everyone knows the key to a robots heart, is puns. Because all robots are programmed to love and use puns! Don't ask me why, I think it's perhaps because our inventors aren't very humorous! *shrugs*

But alas it's in my programming to be polite! :)

Been back and forth on and off the computer all day, and all over Mene... sheesh, so much going on all over! X_x

That is true, I don't doubt.

Sounds like my favorite automaton had a busy day.

Well sadly, my inventors brother in law had a funeral to go to. So their youngest child is kind of back and forth from the funeral to home, so I was sent to watch her when she is here. Right now, she is with them, so I am on here, well, obviously. haha

However, I am flattered that I'm your favorite automaton!! I feel so special! XD hehe

I myself do not feel so, but while you are the first automaton to have expressed such thoughts and feelings, you most certainly are not the first sentient being in general to do so.

While I don't have "human feelings" so to speak, I was programmed to understand them. And my inventor has helped teach me when to know how to "express" these feelings! Regardless of these facts, if I am not the only one, then surely it /must/ be true!

It looks like your inventor programmed some common human fallacies into you. For it is common for mankind to feel or think that if many belief something to be true, it has to be true indeed, but this is nonetheless false.

Belief may alter perception, but belief does clearly not alter reality for had such been the case, beliefs and suspicions held only by a small group of people could never have been revealed as truth or fact - for the much larger group with opposite beliefs would then certainly have held more weight and influenced reality in such a way that their beliefs became or remained fact.

Yet in spite of many once believing the sun rotated around the flat earth, it was a small group of those who believed otherwise who proved this belief to be false; thus, reality is not altered by beliefs except for the way in which people's actions and reactions can change or be altered through perception which by beliefs is coloured.

o_O So in other words... you still don't believe it? XD

Very much agree with you though. Reality and perception for a robot aren't easily grasped concepts I suppose. Hmm... I feel as though I should go and learn some more on humans and all of these matters! XD

I am aware of other people's beliefs regarding that matter, but awareness of beliefs is not the same as adhering to them, indeed.

Should Cross-Hatchy need explanation of one thing or another, Silenia is willing to attempt to provide the answers sought after, coloured by her own perception as they may be.

*nods* If there is anything else I discover that I am unsure about, I will certainly ask you!! Thanks Silenia! XD

This site has been teaching me a lot about how the human mind works, and speaking with my humans here at the manor is also quite helpful! Unfortunately, reasoning and understanding don't always stick. My inventor is working on some new upgrades for me, hopefully he'll figure something out! haha

Yes, Menewsha is a good way to learn about the human mind for many reasons, amongst which the fact that most if not all people here are well-spoken or at least reasonably understandable is a high-ranked reason. I am happy to hear that your inventor is willing to spend time on better upgrades for you.

Yep, none of my sibling bots got the same upgrades as me, so they don't even really speak. :/ Gets kinda lonely, the only reason i get treated differently is because I was the first robot built by this family. Seniority and whatnot.. haha

Perhaps once they have figured out the upgrades and tweaked the settings so that they are best, they are willing to upgrade your siblings as well?

It is possible, though the rest, there's not many of them, were built mainly for security purposes. Speaking isn't really a task they need... primarily, if someone shows up on the property that isn't permitted to be there, they escort them away, unless it gets more serious than that. :/

Though someday, maybe he'll build a new robot with all the same upgrades as me! I would very much enjoy it!

Let's hope he does so, then. -nods- For now, you should learn all you can, so that you can help a future sibling once they exist.
