Welcome One! Welcome All! This is the 24 Hour Cafe!! Owners: Mehimaru Seconds in Command: (who to obey if I'm not here) FakeSunShine TerrenaAnimula Lovable Pet/Cafe Mascot: Roberto the Robot Vacuum (Watch you feet in case he is cleaning. We don't want shoe prints on our Roberto. Foot prints on Roberto is punishable by Black List.) About the 24 Hour Day Cafe: The 24 Hour Day Cafe is for everyone who finds time a hard thing to figure out. So it is 3 in the morning where you live, but you do not feel like writing to entire 3 in the morning. Just write 0300. It means the same thing. Or maybe it is 4:00 pm, and you don't know if it is still afternoon or evening yet. Simple solution. It is now 1600. Here we go by a 24 hour clock. Our Goal: Our goal is simple. To spread the wondrous joys of actually knowing what time it is where ever your friends are without any of the pain of trying to figure if they mean morning, afternoon, or evening. (And maybe possibly one day take over the world. We haven't gotten that far yet.) |
Rules Obey or Die!! (which just means you will be blacklisted and not allowed in here) 1. Obey all Mene rules! 2. Be nice, friendly, and respectful to everyone no matter what. 3. Curious, depends on how you measure steps being accomplished.....is it by awareness? Or by number of posts in the thread...or what?
As for the poll options neither of them quite apply to me either. I know of the 24 hour day time but have never really used it. |
Yeah, I really should have added a "have used it at least once" option. Wasn't thinking clearly....sorry about that.
I was counting by how many people I know use the system...but then I am wrong on the anyways...I know all of the US military uses it...Maybe then how many people on Mene that I know know about it... |
I think in hospitals they use it too, my friend who's a nurse sometimes throws in a 24 hour time when we chat online.

It is very possible. I don't think any of the nurses I know use it, but that may not be true for all hospitals. It would be a lot easier to use it in the hospital setting though.

Actually it is very simple and tons easier to understand what time it is when you know what it means. Like from midnight to noon just add a 0 in front of the time. For example 8:00 am becomes 0800 and 7:56 am becomes 0756. And between 1:00 pm and and midnight add 12 to the time. For example 1:00 pm becomes 1300 and 6:49 pm becomes 1849. And between noon and 12:59 pm, it stays the same. Like 1234 is still 1234. It is a little confusing at first, but it gets much easier with practice.

the way i learned it was 0100 (1) 0200(2) 0300[3] etc 1000 [10] 1100[11] 1200[12] 1300[13-12=1] ect
and then for instance the whole 2:36 you just leaave that out of the equasion and tack it on at the end so 1436 is 14-12=2+.36 =2.36 |

You are so very smart, SunShine!! I had to learn it without any cheat notes. In the military it was the only time system we could use. Only thing they told us was after noon add twelve to get the time.
Yes, SunShine, play fair. Although whitelisters may get an extra tibdbit for being extra awesome. Not sure yet. |
