I also listen to audiobooks at the same time. I think I’m actually accomplishing a lot more than them, and yet it’s considered a waste of time. One just sits around talking on her phone all the time that she’s home, and I talk with my friends on the headset sometimes when I play. How is me talking with my friend while I play a video game still somehow less than someone just sitting around doing nothing but talking on the phone? Make it make sense. Like why is that such a taboo?!
I’m also injured and can’t go do physical things, whereas they’ll sometimes surf or hike, so I think a lot of judgement comes from that too. Like just let me enjoy my simple little thing that isn’t hurting or disturbing anyone. I just want my books, my videogames, and my dog.
Sorrrrryy, rant over.
That’s so cool! “Mine now, Demiguise.”
If you figure it out, let me know, because I could really use the mindset too lol

Video Games are suuuuuuch a Taboo and I'm like "but whhhhyyyy"
Its a different story in children. I do believe that children should have a limited screen time, because it affects their developing mind. But as an adult people have a right to make their own choices, back off peeps!

True, but even in the media I think new characters need to be created. Simply taking a character people love and change them is only making people who loved the original angry. It can work, sometimes(Into the Spiderverse anyone ), but usually it just reads as "I want you to think I'm cool so I'm going to push out a hundred movies just changing the main character to be a PoC or LGBTQ). If they aren't doing it with care and intention then it shows and it causes more rifts. Disney is the biggest example. The only reason they are pushing so hard is to try and erase their past mistakes. And the only time their movies with minority groups have been successful is when it was original and full of intention, like Encanto or Coco. Movies like the remake of the little Mermaid the upcoming Snow White caused people to want to riot.

I just finished my fourth book for the year--The Indifferent Stars Above. I really enjoyed learning more history about the infamous Donner party.

Now I'm rereading a fictional book based on the story. I want to compare historical accuracy now that I have a better foundation on the truth of the story.

The story was actually fairly accurate with some liberties taken of course. That's wraps on the fifth book of the year!

XD I guess that's how social practices have become these days, dividing your attention between several things. But it seems people put more priority on being social with others, giving them your full attention, than enjoying a task on your own?
That reminds me, I really need to put aside some time for some minor exercise at least, like walking or stretching...
Would be nice to figure out an answer..

Yeah, you’re probably right. I also think that people just judge what isn’t familiar to them. They don’t like to do that thing, so they regard it as a waste of time. I also think that society has really decided that videogames are dangerous and melt your brain, so people have this view that it’s bad for you. It’s like, I’m an adult, not an impressionable child that needs to go touch grass. I played outside and did tons of stuff as a kid. I also played videogames. As an adult I still go outside and also play videogames. I think if it was bad for me, it would have presented itself by now. Lol People act that way with manga and anime too. There’s this weird idea that it’s all pornagraphic and that anyone that likes it is weird. But like have any of those people even tried to watch/read an average one? Sure, there are wild ones and it does often sexualize characters, but so does all media.
I feel like getting into the habit of things like that is the hardest part. Creating a routine and sticking to it. Finding that motivation can be such a struggle.

I absolutely agree. It’s like kids are encouraged these days to sit in front of different screens and do nothing else because it keeps them occupied. So bad for their minds and so lazy of the parents.
But why is it okay and socially acceptable for adults to sit in front of a tv for hours watching trash tv while looking at random shit on their phone, but not okay for someone to do an engaging activity like videogames? It’s the stigma of the type of people that are associated with those activities. Like they don’t think you can do it without making it your entire life.

It's because there is such a mental image about what a gamer nerd looks like. Fat, unhealthy, living in their moms basement, never going outside, living off pizza. Except there are people like that who aren't gamers. There is also gamers who look like athletes too. So its such a stereo type that really needs to stop because its like you've said. Its such a social norm to sit in front of the TV and stare at your phone and it isn't any better.

I just started Red London, it's a sequel to another book I read a couple years ago. It's a spy type book, not something I read very often but it's been fun so far.

Mine was with Co-workers so I still had to face them every day so I felt like I had to keep going. It was so awkward when the only two people still going were me and the supervisor. We read the entire Game of Thrones series....for the last three books it was just me and the Supervisor
