For hundreds of years, Sappheire was ruled by a ruthless king. He isolated the races, kept his people in poverty, and tortured his kingdom. To him, the only way to rule was by using fear. No individual could stand up to him and he made sure that there was little chance for an uprising. He separated the land into four domains and he used the land features to his advantage.
The center of the Kingdom was a great green plateau. This is where his castle was and where the Human villages were. To the East side there was a great river and on the other side was a dense forest. There, the Elves lived. To the West was a huge desert and past it the Beasts lived. A mountain range to the South fenced in the Demons. The king also built a huge wall to the north to prevent anyone from leaving his kingdom.
The people eventually became intolerable of the king’s actions. Even members of his own army were starting to hate him. Over time, the fear the king himself put into his people’s hearts, slowly turned to hate, and small groups started to plot against the king. In their minds there was nothing left to loose. People were crossing borders and forming alliances against the king. Finally, after many years of preparation, the people were able to form an army to combat the king. There were many bloody battles. Finally after four years of fighting, the king is killed and the Queen and her 3 children fled to the north. The land of Sappheire was free.
Now, five years later, the younger generation has begun to explore the lands that were once forbidden. They are exploring the mountains, crossing the rivers, and venturing out into the desert. However, they still don’t dare cross the wall to the north. No one knows what lies past it and many are afraid to go.
However things are not as they seem. No one has ruled since the King and now a new darkness has started to wreak havoc on the people of Sappheire.

What I Look Like:
Kioko slowly walks down an abandoned dirt road. It has been 3 days since she came across a town and her food supply was empty. This is the first time she crossed the plains and didnt expect it to be so empty. Barely able to keep her head up, she finally spotted a large apple tree. "Oh thank god!" Kioko ran up to it and quickly snagged an apple from a low branch. She grabbed a few more before plopping onto the shaded ground. Within minutes all the apple were gone and she was slowly slipping into a deep sleep.
Kaz had been walking for about an hour now, wearing a basket on his head to keep the sun out of his eyes and to carry apples from a tree he goes to once a month. By the time he got to the tree and tilted the basket up enough to see the tree, he noticed that all the apples were gone. The basket fell off his head and his jaw dropped as him arms went slack by his sides,"Who ate all my apples!" He ran up to the tree and immediately climbed up in it, to see if there were any apples he couldn't see. When he finally gave up and dropped out of the tree, he nearly broke his ankle when he attempted to avoid hitting the person sleeping under the tree. Kaz managed to hit the ground and roll off to the side, springing back up to his feet. He looked around, hoping that no travelers saw his embarrassing stunt as he brushed off his coat. He sighed and walked over to the person sleeping under the tree. He squatted down and leaned forward, so close that he was right in her face,"Hey! Wake up!"
As Kioko slept, she dreamed of the night her village was destroyed. The demon warriors ride in, killing one person after another. Young Kioko and her mother hide in a cottage at the far end of the village. As they watch in horror, a flaming arrow lands on the roof, catching the building on fire. As the two escape, Kioko's mother is hit in the leg by an arrow, and falls to the ground. Kioko turns to help, but her mother screams at her to run. Reluctantly she does as she is told and runs to the forest near her home. Kioko turns and looks one last time and sees her mother stabbed through the chest by a demon. Her child scream in her dream, along with the real life yell startled her awake.
She looks up at this dark haired human, who appears to be quite aggravated. "What?" She said as she wiped the sleep and small tears out of her eyes.
Kaz gave the girl a blank stare when she responded to his yelling,"You ate all my apples." He stood up and looked back up at the tree,"This was my last month in this area and I had planned to make a decent meal, but no. You had to eat all my apples." He crossed his arms as he jerked his head off to the side and huffed. He looked at her without moving his head and sighed,"Since you ate all my apples, the least you could do is help me find a small animal to cook up. If it's big enough, I guess I can cook you up a meal later on." Although he was a little angry at her, he was still a decently nice guy.
Kioko first looked at him in confusion, still groggy from the sleep. Then she looked at the empty tree and then the stack of apple cores laying beside her. As things came together her face turned a deep red. "I'm so sorry. I was so hungry, I didnt realize how much I was eating." She looked down at the ground. "I hunt quite well. I think I could find some thing." She stood up and took a deep breath. Her body started to slowly change. Her back narrowing, legs shortening, nails growing longer and nose stretching out. Soon her body was in the form of a red fox with a ice blue tuft at the end of her tail.
Kaz watched as she as morphed into a fox, well marveled would be the correct term. No matter how many beast-like people he meets, it still makes him gawk whenever they morph. He looked over her new body, noticing the tuft matched the color of her hair, but he chuckled at the single blue tuft on her body,"The blue looks a little out of place, don't you think?" He raised an eyebrow as he turned his head to look back hers. His hands were now pocketed in his coat, waiting for her to go hunting. As much as he wanted to watch how she hunted like that, he didn't really want to use any more energy than necessary. It was a long walk back to his small campsite.
Kioko growled a bit at his comment, then sniffed the air a bit. She walked around in a circle, homing in on a sent she found, then took off down the road. After a couple of minutes she came across a small burrow. Kioko licked her muzzle and crawled in slowly. Inside was two decently sized hares and after a short tussle, she walked back out with both in tow. After cleaning herself up, she ran back towards the human. Tossing the hares at his feet, she started to stretch back out into her regular form. "Man, I hate being in that form." she said moving her body a bit to loosen the muscles back out. She turned back towards the man with a smug look on her face. "I hope these are to your satisfaction?"
Kaz picked up the hares by the ears and shrugged,"Eh. I guess they're good. They'd go better with some apples." He had planned to hold that over her head for the time being, or at least until they went they're separate ways. He slung the hares over his shoulder and turned around, picking up the basket he had dropped early. Kaz looked over his shoulder,"Come on, my camp is this way. It'll take a while to cook these, so I want to get back soon." He never liked staying in towns, mostly because he never had any money, but also because everybody seemed to dislike him at first glance. Kaz could never figure out the main reason behind it though, so he just avoided towns and camped out. Kaz had started walking towards the camp, not knowing if the girl was following him or not. He did stop and turn around though,"Hey, I never asked, but what's your name?"
Kioko's ears leaned back against her head at the mention of the apples. She quietly walked behind him. Camp huh? I guess there are no towns around. I guess it was luck that I found this tree. I would have starved....though I do feel bad... Her ears perked up when he spoke to her again. "Oh I'm sorry. My name is Kioko Ito. As you can tell I'm from a small village in Ayodele." she then politely bowed at the waist.
Kaz scratched his head as she bowed,"It's a pleasure to meet you Kioko. I'm Kaz." He wouldn't explain where he was from, since he was a human and it was pretty obvious,"Alright, well, let's hurry back to the camp." He turned on his heels and started walking again, keeping an eye over his shoulder to make sure Kioko was keeping up,"So what made you decide to leave your home?" From all his travels, he had heard some interesting stories about why people left their homes.
Kioko straightened back up with a gentle smile and continued to follow. However, when he asked about why she left, her eyes went dull and the smile slowly faded from her face."I...." she hesitated a bit but decided to continue. " My home, and everyone in it, is in ashes. It was one of the first to be attacked. I was the only one to survive. I was taken in by an old man, but when he died, I decided to travel. Her voice lowered a bit and her eyes went cold. " Maybe I will find that demon...."
Kaz had realized he hit a sensitive subject when her smile disappeared, so he dropped it and attempted to change the subject,"How long have you been traveling for? It's rare to come across a female traveler, especially one that travels alone." They were almost half way to his campsite, but he wanted to get to know Kioko a little more before they got there,"Do you have friends waiting for you in a nearby town or are you actually on your own?"
Kioko shook her head to clear her mind of unhappy thoughts and took a deep breath. "I have been traveling for about three years now, after my master died." She glared at him jokingly. "He was ex-army and taught me well. So, if you are thinking of trying anything funny, just be warned." She giggled a bit. Kaz didnt really seem like the person to try anything but then again humans can be trouble. "I'm not really meeting anyone anywhere. I'm pretty much alone. I have made a few acquaintances but thats about it. I'm looking for someone but thats if I can find him."
Kaz let out a nervous laugh at the playful threat,"Well than, your master and my father had something in common. Both military and they both trained us. My father was surprised to find out that was pretty quick on me feet and I could think up strategies at a moment's notice." He looked up at the sky as he remembered the little strategy sessions they had. His father would draw both armies in the dirt with a stick, then throw out random advances and attacks, and it was up to Kaz to command his side and use his strategies to keep the enemy at bay. Kaz shook his head as he came back to the real world,"Well, at least you have a reason to travel. I just travel because I have nowhere else to go. Who are you looking for exactly, or is that question too personal?"
Kioko listened intently. she was interested who this person was. "So, you would be good as a general or something. I'm just a fighter. dont know how well I would do as a tactician." She was quite for a moment and decided to go on and answer this question. It couldnt hurt too much getting the word out about me looking for him. maybe he will find me. "I'm looking for the demon who was the commander of the group that destroyed my town. He was also the one who killed my mother. I dont know his name but I would know him if I saw him."
Sitting alone in a cottage near the edge of the forest, a woman waited for the chance to explore the border. It was her secret desire to stray from her people and make friends amonst others not like herself. And now, after five years of waiting, she was free to fullfill her secret wish. The blonde haired woman packed up her most precious belongs and some food before opening the wood door and stepping out into the sunshine. Sikura smiled and took a deep breath for closing the door to her home she shared with her father and mother. "Good bye, Mom. Good bye, Dad." She said softly before starting towards the border and leaving her elven home land.
After a few months of traveling, the tired and hungry elf collasped on a dirt road under a bare apple tree. She was too exhausted to make a cry for help as she laid there. Many obstacles appeared on her way, hungry animals, bandits, and several storms. Today was her first day of rest in many days.
A large blond fox with a red tuft at the tail swiftly ran through the meadow. Saito was hot on Kioko's trail. Her sent is extremely strong here. I must be really close His right ear twitched behind him a bit when he noticed a light thud on the ground. Being the curious kitsune he was, Saito decided to check to see what it was. Soon, he approached a tree with a lovely young lady collapsed underneath. A mischievous glimmer appeared in his eye as he walked up to her to get a better look. Hmm...She IS quite lovely. He pawed at her a bit and noticed the elven ears. Ahh. One of those woodland creatures. She seems so refined, i wonder what she is doing out here. The poor thing looks half starved. He looks around to hunt for some food for him and the girl. He smelled the blood of hares and Kioko as well. She has been here. its still fresh. He looked back at the girl and suddenly his duty and his lust for the ladies were in conflict. Saito shook his head and continued to look for food, his personal desires getting the best of him. After a bit of wondering he found himself a few small animals and some wild vegetables to make a stew. He returned to the girl in his humanoid form, a tall, lean, young man with his blond hair blowing in his face and his red tuft tail swaying behind him.
The young woman laid there under the tree, regaining her strength and did not notice the fox paws on her form or the young man now near her. Sikura laid there covered in dirt and some bruises under the apple tree in the shade. Her kind were always more comfortable near trees, which makes sense because Sikura's previous home was made from a hollowed out oak tree and the rest of her kinds lived in the forests of Sapphire. She laid there under that tree and smiled in her sleep, glad to have found the kind apple tree.
Saito laid his newly found victories on a tree root that was poking out of the ground and looked around for cooking supplies. "Well, I was wanting to make some stew but it seems I dont have any supplies. Oh well, kabobs will have to do." He wondered around gathering fire wood and small sticks to put the meat and veggies on. Once he had enough for a small fire, Saito headed back to the tree and started the fire, sliced the meat and vegetables, and put them on the skewers. He then went up to the young woman and gently lifted her and adjusted her to a more comfortable position leaning against the tree. He then noticed the small scrapes and bruises. "I know just the thing to make those better." While the food was cooking, Saito gathered herbs to make an ointment and returned to the woman. "Hey, are you awake?" He gently dabbed a cool, wet, cloth on her forehead.
Sikura started to stir as she felt the wet washcloth on her forehead and looked up at the blonde man. Her sight was hazy but started to clear and focused in on the young man and blushed as she looked at him. She backed away from him a little bit but let him touch her still. The elven woman felt her body over to make sure she was clothed and her belongs or what was left of them were near her. "Please, don't hurt me...I have no money or food."
Saito laughed a bit. "Dont worry. I wont hurt you. Are you okay? I have made some ointment and some food. I could help you with the ointment if you would like. I promise I wont do anything to offend you." A slight glimmer of hope was in his eyes and he laughed. "I'm sorry. I should not behave that way. Please, if you would like any assistance, let me know. Otherwise I can wait on the other side of the tree."
Allegria chased a rabbit through the forest, an arrow against her bow, ready to shoot. For some reason, she just couldn't get close enough to the rabbit to get a good shot. She didn't like wasting arrows. Even with her talent for aim, she wanted to kill the rabbit with one arrow, not two. She sighed ad picked her pace up a bit. She jumped over logs, and dodged low branches as she ran after the rabbit. I'll just have to chance it... she thought a she let the arrow go just as the rabbitleft the forest. That was when she noticed that her arrow whizzed right past two people, killing the rabbit on contact. She exited the forest with a sigh and faced the people "Sorry about that, I was unaware that anyone was around to get inbetween my arrow and my kill" she apologized.
Sikura blushed as she heard the blonde man's words and saw the look in his eyes. "Thank you for making the ointment and for making food. I'd like your help, thank you." Her eyes went to his before the arrow blew past her and turned her attention to the other elf. She felt a little awkward with the other elf so close to them as the young man stood over her a little. "It's alright. No harm done." The blond elf said as she looked back at the young man.

Saito first looked angrily in the direction that the arrow came from, but as soon as his eyes laid upon the new girl, his charming smile crossed his face. Ahhh. Sometimes I love my luck. He stood up and dusted himself off. "All is well. I was just helping this young woman with some injures and fixing dinner. Would you like to join us?" He extended his hand towards a sitting spot near them.
