It had been a dark, cloudy and rainy night. A horrible night as well. A bombing had occurred in the middle of the night, allied forces had bombed a city to get rid of a military base, their mission failed, and lots of innocent people had gotten stuck in the fires.

Now that it was morning and the skies had cleared from clouds and the sun was slowly pulling the fog away, the damage could been seen.
A small patrol strolled down the destroyed town to help survivors and bury the bodies.

A young blonde haired officer pulled some rubble aside. A house had collapsed and he had a hunch that there was still a survivor stuck underneath the crumbled concrete. His leather gloves were dirty and they seemed to be very old, because of the weariness. The six feet tall German soldier was working hard, he had even tossed his jacket aside to be able to pull the rubble apart.
Sweat ran down his brows as he worked fast but delicately.

Under all the rubble in rock, appearing to be barely alive, laid a young boy, no elder than 15, who appeared to be of Japanese origin, seeing his garb, and his general appearance.Short, fluffy black hair and big, sweet brown eyes, appearing to be gold in certain lighting.He seemed a bit odd, but it was a bit hard to tell with all of the rubble surrounding him.He was quite small for a teenage boy, being only 5'3'', and it was hard to tell if he was even a boy, to be quite honest.

He reached one sweet, soft-skinned hand weakly out of a hole in the concrete blocks that nearly encased him, hoping that someone, anyone would see him.

The man had been so busy he barely noticed the hand that stuck out. He did notice that some rubble moved. THen he noticed the hand. "Dammit." he cursed as he gently took a hold of the hand to let the person know he was there. "Hang on there, I'm going to get you out of there." he promised, his voice was manly and harsh, like any other German voice. With a sigh he let go of the soft hand and began to work harder.
His speed was picked up with each part of wall and ceiling he pulled away, and soon he had the last part in his hand and tossed it aside.
"You okay?" he asked as he reached for his coat and covered the body with it, to warm it up.

The boy, dressed in a now-torn, simple deep blue kimono, decorated with white lines making a square pattern on the soft fabric.The young boy groaned a bit, mumbling something in japanese and trying his best to stay awake, now gripping onto the soldier's shirt.Now his oddity was revealed.he had large, furry black cat ears that spanned from the top of his head to about where a normal boy's ears would end, and he had a matching tail, completely black, thin and long, but that was barely seen, as he had it hidden underneath his clothing.

It seemed that his right leg was very injured, possibly broken, and he had various other cuts and bruises on various parts of his body, a few being visible on the poor boy's cheeks.

The soldier was shocked to see the fluffy ears and tail. His first reaction was to gaze at the furred body parts, but he shook that off and carefully lifted the boy in his arms only to lay him down on the hard concrete of the street to give first aid immediately.
He took a look at all the cuts and bruises, wrapping and covering the cuts as he tried to figure out what this was.
"What's your name?" he asked him as he took a look at the leg before he began to splint it fast but carefully.

The boy didn't understand the soldier too much, but he understood enough to know what he was being asked."Kaoru..M-my name is Kaoru." He said weakly, with quite a cute accent.His fluffy ears twitched to clear out a bit of dirt in them as he watched the man who saved him patch him up.

The blond smiled as he finished up. "You're Japanese, right?" he asked the other before he lifted the boy up carefully to get him to their truck. "I think we have someone who talks Japanese at the hospital." The German smiled at him. "You'll be fine." he promised

The boy smiled a bit, making a light purring sound as he was lifted up, now feeling safe in the arms of the man who saved him."Anata no namae wa..Wh-what's your name?" He softly said, swiftly realizing that the man could probably not understand his question in japanese mid-sentence, his big, curious eyes looking straight up at the soldier.

The man soon enough hopped into the truck from the back, where other wounded passengers sat. He sat down on one of the two benches that was on either side of the truck. "I'm Marcus." he said before he smiled. He gave a shout to one of his mates that he was there and that they could leave if the others were ready as well.
He then looked down at Kaoru and smiled. "Let's get you a bed, some food and water and have a doctor to look at your leg." he smiled.

Soon enough a few others got in the truck and they started to drive out of town to the military base again. "Just hold on, it's going to get bumpy."

Kaoru squeaked a bit when they went over a bump, clinging tightly onto Marcus.This was one of the boy's first trips in a car of any kind, his tail bushed up and he seemed a bit shocked at the speed.He found a comfortable position for his injured leg and tried to relax as much as possible, seeming surprisingly calm and happy for the situation that he had been in.

Mark had laughed slightly and allowed the younger boy to hold onto him. Marcus had just turned 20 and had been in the army for two years now.
The man looked down at the cat boy and he found himself holding onto the other. His steel blue eyes looked over the ears and tail. He began to wonder...

Kaoru looked around at everything in the truck, his curious brown eyes glancing over every passenger, almost as if looking for someone. He leaned on Marcus and appeared to begin to doze off, mumbling incoherently after he finally fell asleep.

WHen the boy fell asleep Marcus chuckled softly and held onto him. SOon enough they were at the hospital and he got out of the truck with ease, still having the odd boy in his arms. He too allowed some other people to hold onto him as they walked into the hospital, where a team of doctors and nurses were ready to help. A doctor took the neko over and smiled. "This is a nice surprise, I thought this race had died long time ago." he said. "we'll make sure he's going to be fine."

Marcus just nodded and smiled. "I'm trusting on that."

The little boy awoke, seeming quite startled that he was in the arms of someone other than Marcus.He looked around until he saw the man who saved him and he calmed down, a little smile appearing on his face.He seemed worried, though, and his head jumped to look at everyone who walked by that had black hair."Nii-nii..." He sort of mumbled, now seeming quite sad.

THe doctor looked at him and blushed a little. "ah, just hold on one moment before you speak. I can't understand Japanese." the man chuckled before he got the boy to a bed and put him down carefully.
Marcus had noticed that the boy was drawn to him so he decided to stay around for a while. The soldier had taken off his gloves and smiled at Kaoru. His hands were big and looked roughed up. But in fact they were very soft.

Kaoru nervously smiled back at Marcus.He waved cutely, then he realized he felt something in his sleeve.He pulled out of it a little dirty doll of what looked like a doll version of himself, or someone of his race.He hugged the doll tightly, tears coming to his eyes, in a mix of joy and sadness."Kyo.." He softly whispered, keeping the little ragged doll close to his chest.

When the boy started crying he slowly got from where he had been standing and moved to sit next to the other. Carefully he pulled the blanket around Kaoru to keep him nice and warm. Gently he patted the others back. "Hey..." he whispered, trying to comfort the boy.

Kaoru looked up at Marcus and made a light meowing sound, pointing to his doll and sighing.He pushed back a bit of the doll's hair, revealing a single japanese kanji, embroidered into the little cloth neko doll's cheek."I lost him when the building came down.." He said nervously, hoping he wasn't messing up and saying something wrong."His appearance is like mine, but he is much taller.Please tell me if you see him.."

(I was going to have him have very awkward grammar, but I didn't know how to do that.XD; just imagine that he's speaking in adorable engrish.)

Marcus looked at the doll and sighed slightly. He had no idea what the kanji meant, simply because he only knew two Japanese words. Help and thank you. He smiled though when the boy spoke. It was so cute, the accent, the slur of words. But he understood what the boy said. "AH, well...I'll see what I can do for you..." he said before a General entered the room.

The man looked older and held his gaze on Marcus. "What are you going to do with him?" he asked the blonde.
Marcus looked at the man and greeted with their nazi greet. "Well...I'm not sure yet...' he said before he looked at Kaoru. "Maybe, he can help us out at the office, running small errands and such?" he suggested as he got his gaze back to the general who seemed to think about it already.
"He is an axis..." Marcus added, hinting. "He is Japanese."

(I just realized something..You would LOVE one of my favorite animes, Hellsing Ultimate.Vampires, Nazis, and a catboy.A nazi catboy, even.XD
Also, from now on, I'm translating what Kaoru is saying.When he's speaking in japanese, his speech will be within less than/greater than signs, <like this>.)

Kaoru watched Marcus talk to the general, he make out a few words of what they were saying, but not enough to understand, and especially not enough to understand that they were deciding what to do with him.The boy simply sat on he bed where he was put, looking around the room at all the new things he had never seen in his entire life, and still keeping an eye out for any other people with the same ears and tail that he had.

The general sighed and nodded. "I'll see what I can do for him. But YOU Marcus are going to take care of him!" he said before he was off again.

The tall blonde smiled and hopped back onto the bed and looked at Kaoru. "You're going to stay here. With me." he said making hand gestures so the other would be able to understand what he was saying.

Kaoru smiled widely, understanding what Marcus was trying to say.He lightly purred, leaning on Marcus.He caught a glimpse of a set of fluffy ears like his out of the corner of his eye, and he suddenly sat up, pointing in the direction he saw them in."<I saw my brother!I think he's over there!See those ears?>" He said, so excited he couldn't even form any part of the sentence in german, so Marcus could understand him.He soon realized this, and thought of a way to explain it.He pointed at his doll, raised his hand as high as he could over his head to signal someone taller than him, and pointed at the direction he thought he saw his brother in, hoping that now the soldier would understand him.

Marcus smiled and allowed the boy to lean into him. When he perked up he rose his brows, wondering what was going on. When the other tried to sign it to him Marcus looked into the direction and got up. "I'll go and see." he said and walked towards the hall and the way the other had pointed in. Eventhough Marcus was 1.82m. he had to get tip toed to see over the people.

Among the crowd was another Japanese cat-boy, who looked quite a bit older, at least 19.He looked nearly exactly like Kaoru, but was 5'11'', about 8 inches taller than the other neko.He also was quite injured, mostly around his chest.He wore a kimono that matched Kaoru's, and also carried a little doll, one that seemed to be of Kaoru.

Marcus noticed the other cat boy and smirked. Immediately he moved towards the boy and took his hand. "Come." he said and looked at the other. He pointed to the doll and then to the room Kaoru was in. He had no idea if the boy could understand German.
Carefully he guided the cat-boy towards Kaoru. "Look what I found." he said proudly.
