Name: Corlavine
Age: 17 in mer-years | 1, 952 in human-years
Gender: Female
Race: 'Mythical' / Merfolk
Brief Description: Sea-green hair, coral-pink mertail, pearl colored shells to cover her breasts, ice-blue eyes, generally wears a circlet of pearls with a shell in the center dangling upon her forehead.
Brief Bio: The daughter of a banished merfamily, Corlavine has been raised to redeem their family; never knowing the reason for their banishment.
Deciding to leave well-enough alone, Corlavine never pressed the situation and simply accepted the facts - for how could you go against your parents in such matters?
So, with all of their efforts, they finally introduced her to the great society in the merkingdom's capital, striking the fancy of a Baron visiting from a neighboring Kingdom. Finding the match ideal, Corlavine's parents immediately made the match, despite Corlavine never speaking with him and only seeing him in passing.
Baron Tobiathin was not unfortunate looking, but that was hardly the case. He was nearly three times her age. But, it seemed he needed a life-mate to bear children to his title and his lands. Who better than she?
Corlavine accepted her fate... but did that mean she had to take it willingly?
To retain some bit of freedom over her life, Corlavine entered the human rivers when they baracades opened for the ships to go through. Exploring, watching their habits and laughing at their backwardness and oddities.
Little did she know, that on one of these adventures, she would be trapped in the human world.

Marcus had been sent out to pull in the dropped fishing nets by his lazy father. The seas were clam and there was no storms in the forecast. It was another beautiful day in his tropical fishing town. Out of the ocean Marcus felt that nothing could to wrong. So when something finally did go wrong he was shocked by it.
It happened at the end of the day. When he pulled in the second last fishing net he found that the net had captured both fish and a girl. The soft light that the sunset cast on the boats deck made Marcus think that the girl he had captured was a free-breath diver. Their little town is know for its reef diving and he had seen many tourists taking in the sights of the reefs earlier in the day. But when he looked closer he saw the helpless girl had a tail. The first thought in Marcus's mind was that this was some sick joke that someone was playing with him and he wasn't going to let that stand.
"Opens your eyes!" The young boy snapped "I know this inst real and I want you and your friends to pay for this wrecked net!"
Marcus saw the girl's 'tail' twitch and jumped away. it was not something he was expecting. He grabbed a knife and walked back over the to girl. This was real. There was no way such a small movement could replicated in suck a real way. Marcus could literally see the way the tail muscles shifted and moved under neath the skin. He was unsure of the creature had had found in his net was going to act once it awoke, but he didn't care. All the stories he had heard from his parent growing up were true. There are mermaid in the water. It was a find of a lifetime. Marcus dropped to his knees and looked that young girl over. To him she didnt look much older. her pink scale gave of a red glow as the sun went down. Wiped her blue-green hair from her face and pulled out a piece of seaweed that had gotten tangled in her locks. At this movement in time he was thankful for the net which was wrapped tightly around her body. It was the only thing keeping the girl from moveing freely around the ship. Without thinking Marcus reached out and touch the girls tail. the scales felt odd against his skin.

Swimming. Trying to free fish from nets. More swimming. Then, everything had gone dark.
This was all Corlavine could remember as she began to stir and awaken. Corlavine couldn't remember how she had gotten where she was, nor who was touching her. All Corlavine knew was that somehow she had wound upon caught in a net and was now laying aboard a ship, a human fisherman's ship. The aforementioned net was wrapped tightly around her, as if from a struggle, leaving only from her shoulders up free from the net and the last foot of her tail free.
Gasping for air, Corlavine found she couldn't breath and immediately began choking. "W-Water.. Please.. I can't breathe.." Corlavine whispered as she flapped her tail when he touched it, trying to get the human's attention.
"Please, let me go and forget you saw me," Corlavine pleaded with the last of her breath before beginning to choke once more, her eyes filled with fear as she looked at the human with her ice-blue eyes, her sea-green hair sprawled around her in a halo as the pearls in her hair sat slightly askew. As her mind filled with fears of what the human would do, Corlavine began to suffocate and become light headed.

The sea going creature and die right in front of his eyes and Marcus could do nothing to help her out. This was a find of a life time. This was his ticket out of the crummy shack he called a home and into the spotlight. He could see the headline now "boy finds a Mermiad and get large reward.' but he did feel bad seeing her suffer. The girl would be no use to him if she didn't survive. Other people would think it some sort of trick, just like he had at the start. He needed time to think. Just a short amount. Marcus took hold of the net and cut it away with his knife finally freeing the girl. Taking her hand and her tail he lifted the girl into the air. She was heavier then he had guessed. It was a good thing the holding tank for the captured fish was only a foot away. he left the girl fall into the water hoping that it fresh water would help her just a bit
With a slight smile on his face Marcus said "Since your a fish you can swim in the tank for a little while, with all the other fish that are going on someone plate.... at least until I figure out what to do with you. Your a catch of a lifetime and I cant let you go just yet. "

Catching her breath before rising above the surface once more, Corlavine scowled at the worthless human before you.
"You humans are all the same, destroying everything for the sake of your greed. How can you be so cruel? Locking me up like some common sea-creature! Do you plan to put me on display? Keep me in a cage? I will not stand for this!" Corlavine said as she dove into the tank, making a great effort to go out of her way to splash the human before returning and grabbing his wrist, "I will not allow you to keep me imprisoned here! you haven't a right!" Pulling him into the water, Corlavine's temper flared as she pressed him against the side of the tank, her body pressed against his. She wasn't hurting him in the slightest she knew, but she wanted answers.
"How did I get in that net? Why have you taken me? What purpose do you have other than selfish greed? I was harming nobody in that water. I simply came here for a swim in freedom before returning to my world in the Sea. Why do you keep all of these fish alive? Keep their hopes alive that they will someday escape and find their families again? Do you not see that you are torturing these fish for no reason? Can you not hear their sorrow and cries?
"No, I suppose you can't you worthless, self-absorbed, greedy human!" Corlavine said saucily as she glared at the human before her. "What are you planning on doing with me?" she demanded with a hand on her hip, holding him in place with only one hand and her tail, "And you could have been a bit gentler with me in your carrying me over here. It was very rude of you to toss me like a dead weight."

The dip into the water was not expected. Marcus was no longer in his element. He was at her mercy now and that was something he didnt like. No matter how he twisted or twitched he just could not break free of her grip. Her words hurt him deeply. Marcus saw himself as the better creature on the boat. Superior to the little fish girl in every way simply because he was human. he wasn't about to let 'dinner' talk back to him in such a way.
"This is my boat! I will do what I want when I want! I will not have a fish girl talking to me like she knows everything in the world. I dont know how you got in my net. Your the stupid thing that swam into it after all. I keep these fish alive because that taste better fresh. I dont care how that feel or if they are scared, their my 'dinner' and that all they are, worthless creature born to be eaten!"
Marcus glared back at the girl. He wanted to strike out and hit her, fight back against her actions and words. Marcus has never been a tactful guy with words. His actions do most of his taking for him. He garbed at her hand trying to pull it off.
"You should be kissing my feet. I put you back in water. If it had been anyone else you would have laid on that deck until you died. You should be thanking me 'fish girl' I just saved your life." A evil grin cross the young boys face. Marcus was doing everything he could to piss the girl off. He wanted to get even for all the negative comments she had been making about humans. "And I am not going to let you go until I am ready to let you go, Got that? Hell, I might just have you stuffed and put over my fireplace. you would make a very good fishing trophy." He was simply staying the first things that came to his mind. He said them even if he didn't truly mean them.

"Ughh!" Corlavine screeched as she slapped the human across the face before leaning in, her eyes no more than two inches away from his own as she spoke lowly, icily, "You, human, pollute our waters, ruin lives, fight amongst yourselves for petty matters. Tell me, human, how do you think you are superior to the peaceful sea-creatures of this Earth? You are cruel, unworthy creatures of this world who do not deserve the air they breathe. In my years, I have seen very few humans who are worth anything in this harbor. You, human, are the worst.
"How dare you do this to these creatures, and how dare you threaten me. I thank you, for saving my life, but it would not have needed saving had it not been for you, worthless creature," Corlavine added icily as she shoved him against the side before swimming down below the surface, the fish circling around her as she laid down on the floor of the tank, her hair swirling and spiraling around her, her back to the human, not caring if he was alright or not.
"We're going to get out of here! A mermaid has come to rescue us!" a fish muttered and soon it was chorused by everyone.
"No," Corlavine said softly, "I cannot help you. I wish I could.. But.. that human," Corlavine whispered as she reached out and pet the fish around her, "I am so very sorry, but I fear all of our fates are sealed. I cannot change it. I wish I could."

The slap had come at a shock for Marcus. he had never been hit by a girl before. Let alone hit without warning. He grabbed a hold of the edge of the tank after she let him go. he was happy to be free of the girl. but at the same time be felt back about that he had said.
Marcus swallowed his pride and chocked out. "Dosent you kind have wars and fight for no reason. You like you know everything about human, but you don't. Not ever human is greedy or a someone that like to poison the water. I'm just trying to make a living and it that mean fishing fish, then that is what in going to do to survive. even someone like you can understand that." he then hissed out "your the find of a life time it would be stupid for me to let you go... These fish are worthless to me now that i have you. You are the things legends are made of. I grew up on all sorta of stories about mermaids.. I never thought would ever see one, let alone catch one in a net."

Tilting her head as the human's voice carried through the water, Corlavine scowled before pushing herself off of the tank floor and emerging from the water with a mouthful of water. Spitting it in his face in a steady stream as if she were a fountain, Corlavine scowled at him before turning and diving into the water again, splashing him once more with her tail.
How dare he talk to her like that? So what if he didn't personally destroy her home. So what if he did it to make a living. He didn't have to do it in such a cruel way as this. And to call them worthless? That was the last straw. So what if she was a mermaid. So what if they had never seen her kind before. Was it her fault they had destroyed the sea and rivers and therefore drove them to hiding because of their pointless sea-faring wars and their pollution?
It was their own fault nature had distanced itself from the humans, not hers. Emerging from the water after a few moments, Corlavine glared at the human before her. "I am not a prize, human. I am a sea-creature, living and breathing. I am not some trophy to mount upon your wall. If you did, you would be nothing short of a murderous wretch. My Fiancee will rescue me, I know he will. And if you mount me on your wall, he will track you down and revenge my death."

Marcus opened his mouth to snap back at the stupid creatures but stopped. He could hear a boat coming closer. the only person that knew where he was, was his father. Was he coming to find out what was taking so long? Marcus looked up at the sky and saw that the sun and finally gone down. Marcus let out a pained groan "I'm Late.." He looked over at the mer-girl as he hear his father calling out. "Listen girl. Stay on my good side and you might leave this boat alive. Your My catch and I am not ready to through you back just yet. So stay quite.. I dont want my father knowing about you just yet... and keep these fish quite too. I dont wanna hear then talking to each other anymore."
With that Marcus pulled himself out of the storage tank to came face to face with his father. Who was a shaggy looking made with dirty, ripped clothing. He look disapproving at his young, wet, son. The old man turned and walked into the wheel house, started the boat and took off towards home. Marcus got to his feel tried to talk to his father, telling him that he had not caught any fish in the nets today. But nothing he said got through to the hard headed man. He talking this boat home no matter what son said to try and stop him.

Corlavine scowled as she watched the human who captured her talk to an older human. His father perhaps?
Not caring, Corlavine swam down to the school of fish waiting at the bottom of the tank. "Now listen here, my dears. I'm not going down without a fight. I want you to come to the top of the tank and do your best to jump out and cause a ruckus, alright? Splash about, do everything possible to get attention and make the humans angry, alright? Can you do this for me?"
The school of fish eagerly agreed and began doing was they were told by the young mermaid. Grinning, Corlavine floated to the bottom of the tank and relaxed lazily upon the floor, her hair sprawled around her like a halo. Her eyes closed, a grin was upon her lips as she heard the school of fish doing their job. She was proud of them, and could not wait to see what the humans would do now.
