Name :: Prince Skylar "Zelda" Frederick Cameron James Dublair of the Royal Family of the land of Tuscaloosa

Age :: 17

Gender :: Male

Personality :: Skylar is a total rebel. He adores the outside, laps up sunshine and has a lot of wolf - like qualities and tendencies. He does pretty much everything his parents tell him not to do and doesn't give a damn about anything he doesn't like the sound of. If he doesn't like the idea, he'll simple storm off into the wilderness for a few days then come back in a good mood. He draws a lot, listens to and plays a lot of music and likes to think he's good at both.

Biography :: Skylar was born into the Royal Family of Tuscaloosa as the youngest and the only boy. He spent only a very small portion of his youth being dolled by his seven older sisters before he broke free and began fending for himself at the age of six. He started spending most of his time outside and befriended the wildlife in the kingdom, particularly a small wolf pack which he found one day whilst drawing under a tree, close to a large cluster of caves. Ever since, he has spent most of his time with the pack, who have adopted him as their own and raised him ever since, and given himself the name of "Zelda", which only those closest to him refer to him as.

Skylar doesn't have much to do with his parents, only socializing with them at Public events, and even then, they'll be lucky if they get a few mumbles from him. He resents them for being so high class and over protective. When he found that they were planning an arranged marriage for him, to "get him back on the straight and narrow", as his father had put it, he ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction. Upon hearing that his bride - to - be has been summoned to the castle, he has returned home for a very short while, telling himself that if he doesn't like the girl, he'll go back to the wild.

Appearance :: Skylar

Theme Song :: Skillet - Awake and Alive

Adelaide shut her eyes and flinched every time the carriage hit a pothole. "Today of all days! Why did my father decide to tell me about the arranged marriage now?" Her voice was stern, but the two people close to her, Elaine, her governess, and Chandler, her lady-in-waiting, said nothing back to her. They both knew that if they say something against it, she might go into a long debate. They loved her, but every person has their pet peeves.

Addie crossed her arms and took a peek out the curtain of the carriage. 'The way to Tuscaloosa is so rough and bumpy.' She thought. 'I mean, look at my hair.' She looked at herself in the looking glass in dismay. Addie is very vain about her appearance, especially her hair. By messing with it, it looked like she just got out of bed. The weather only made it worse.

Chandler giggled. "Don't fidget, milady. You'll only make it worse. Besides, when we arrive, I'll quickly fix your hair before they even announce your arrival." She fingered her dress nervously as she said so. Andie was very anxious about the prince. She had heard tales of him from the other servants and most of them weren't any good ones.

Elaine frowned and opened her fan to fan herself. The stuffy carriage did nothing to help her. "Don't slouch, Adelaide. You might ruin your corset." She tapped Addie's hand as she said so. Looking outside, she soon saw the majestic castle of the Royal Family of the land of Tuscaloosa. "We're here."

A boy lay on his back in the middle of a lush grass field, watching the clouds as they swirled into all manner of curious and inventive shapes. Beside him lay a sandy bay coloured wolf, also on it's back, legs akimbo, tongue hanging out of it's mouth as it panted. The two lay there, starring up into the sky as the warm summer breeze curled around their bodies, licking at them before retreating and then coming back again. Looking over to the east, the entrance to the kingdom, the boy spotted a large looking patch of storm clouds. If he squinted hard enough, he could see the rain just beginning to fall to the ground. He chuckled to himself.

If the wind doesn't stop that Princess, the rain sure will.

The boy was fair skinned, pale to the core and had golden eyes, a rich colour which he had inherited from his father. On top of his head was a mass of untamed pale blonde hair which glinted in the sunlight which poured down over him and his friend. He had plenty of moment just like this one in his life, but savoured every one as if it may be hid last.

And then, he heard it.

"Sky - laaaaaar !"

A high pitched wail echoed across the courtyard as the Queen hollered out of one of the many windows of the castle.

"Come inside this instant !"

The boy sat up, shook his hair out and looked over to his best friend, who was already on his feet, growling, the hackles on his hind legs raised as he lowered himself into a defensive crouch. The boy patted him on the head, scratching behind his ears. The wolf surrendered almost immediately, dropping to the floor and onto his back again.

"'Atta boy, Genesis." he said to the wolf, beaming from ear to ear.

Jumping to his feet, Prince Skylar began the short walk back to the castle, Genesis at his heels, whimpering.

"I know, boy. I know." he replied, a tone of nervousness in his voice. "I'm not looking forward to this either."

Flinching from Elaine's tap, Adelaide frowned. "Don't frown. You might have wrinkles when you grow older." Elaine snapped again. As soon as she said those words, the sound of thunder shook all of the carriages, and at that very moment, it began to rain. The horses became agitated at the sudden drops of water pouring down. Their masters did everything they can to calm them down. And once the clamor and confusion died down, the queen's high, shrill voice rang so loud that everyone in the procession to Tuscaloosa averted their attention to her.

"Jaqueline!!!!"

The queen herself is thrice as vain as her own daughter. Once she discovered that her hair was disheveled from the wind and now from the rain, she instantly called out to her lady-in-waiting, who quickly ran to Queen Penelope's carriage.

"I swear, the moment your mother opens her mouth, I would run far, far away before her voice reaches my ears." Chandler snickered. Addie knew that she was just joking, but Elaine thought it was disrespectful to the queen herself. "Chandler! You know better than to disrespect the queen!" Addie kept her head down to look outside. The rain was falling harder and the procession slowly made it's way to the Tuscaloosa Palace.

After a few hours, they all soon arrived in the city of Tuscaloosa. The guards announced their arrival and the people of the city rejoiced in their coming. Addie herself was in the carriage, Chandler doing the best she could with her hair while Elaine reminded her of Tuscaloosan customs.

Skylar could hear the crowds as they roared at the carriages as they made their way through the kingdom. Genesis' ears pricked up as he listened also to the deafening cheers of the people. He shook his head, eyes closed. Opening them again, he groaned as he watched the youngest of his older sisters, Rachel approach him. She wore a smirk on her face, twirling a curl of her hair in between her fingers.

"Mother wants you. She said she wants you inside so you can make yourself . . ." she trailed off, squeaking a giggle. "presentable. Personally, I don't see why she's bothering. We all know you'll still look like a total wild anima-"

The Prince's third eldest sister, Paige, had placed her hand over the younger girl's mouth, muffling her words. She smiled at Skylar, her bright green eyes shining as she offered her assistance.

"Run along now, Rachel." she said sternly, her eyes watching her sister. "Skylar doesn't need you filling his thoughts with nonsense. I'm sure he's nervous enough already."

Rachel huffed in disapproval, but sauntered away, still playing with her curls as she prowled along.

"She's just being stupid. This will all be over soon." Paige said, placing a hand on Skylar's shoulder. "But, you do look as if you could do with a change of clothes. We'll quickly go up to your room and you can change. Mother doesn't have to know."

Skylar smiled in reply and linked arms with his sister, the only person in his entire family he could really talk to without feeling like he was speaking some foreign language.

"Thanks, Paige." he said as they began to climb one of the many staircases leading to his sleeping quarters. "With any luck, this girl'll be a complete scaredy-cat. I bet you a months wroth of desert that she'll start crying if I growl loud enough."

Paige rolled her eyes at her brother. He was never very keen on the idea of arranged marriage, even as a child when he heard about it in bedtime stories. But back then, it was all fairy tales. This was real. Real enough that as Skylar arrived at his room and closed the door, Genesis skipping merrily along beside him, he felt a deep pull in the pit of his stomach to jump out of the high window and head for the hills before someone planted a ring on his finger. The idea of marriage for love was freaky enough to him. But with someone he'd never even met before ? I mean, c'mon. What was he, a hand-me-'round husband ? He was glad that his sister was waiting outside for him. He didn't want her to know how he felt.

Skylar pulled on a clean pair of trousers from his wide draws, plain old things he still had from his childhood. They were comfy and held good memories. He would need those memories as he was inspected and oogled at by this supposed 'bride-to-be' and her family. He was just doing up the middle button of his shirt when he walked over to his old stone window and looked down onto the front of the castle below. There stood a girl. He had never seen her before, but she was beautiful. Her hair was soft, even as the rain poured down outside and her eyes shone like precious gems.

Now, thats the kinda girl I wouldn't mind marrying.

(( Is Addie the girl he's talking about? Or is it another person? ))

Addie looked around in wonder as she got out of her carriage. Once she saw the beauty of the place, she paid no attention to her dress or her hair as she rain continued to pour down. Both Elaine and Chandler struggled to cover her from the rain. In a few minutes, She was covered by a piece of cloth. But she was still drenched. As she prepared herself for yet another 'Act-like-a-princess' speech, Elaine herself marveled in the beauty of the place. Addie opened her eyes to see that they all stood speechless.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" A man who was a little bit around her father's age remarked. Addie looked to see who is was and gasped. "Augustin!" She shrieked and quickly embraced her uncle, who she wasn't expecting. "I missed you so much. How's traveling the world?" Addie asked.

Both Elaine and Chandler curtsied at the sight of Lord Pennington. He smiled at his niece and abruptly waved the question away. "There are more alarming things than my adventures at sea." He held her an arm away and gravely said, "I heard that you are getting married. And to an unknown prince! I've thought I'd never see the day when Adelaide would accept such a request."

Addie's nose scrunched up at the sound of her name. "On my defense, I did put up a fight. I was sure I screamed all the way to my room." Thinking about it, she sighed. "But I guess that doesn't count, right? And besides, father thinks that it is the best choice for me." She was surprised at her own words. Her whole life, she never takes orders from everybody, especially her parents. Which earned her the title, "Nykter Princess", which means 'hard headed princess'.

"Now, hurry. I'll meet you later during dinner." Lord Pennington then raced towards the other building right next to the castle. Addie shrugged and hurried up the stairs, remembering her appearance and quietly calling Chandler to help her tidy up before she would be announced.

"Princess Adelaide Arabella Pennington of the land of Cristiana!" Addie presented herself as gracefully as possible and curtsied. The rest of the Royal Family came by announced.

(( AAAAAH ! ! I can't post until a little later in the day -- go damn school . . . :illgetu: -- but the girl Skylar sees in the window can be Adelaide if you want ! I was kinda leaving it up to you to decide. I'll edit later with a post ! ! ^^ ))

Skylar watched as the young girl was approached by a tall male, a disapointed look spreading over his face as he watched them together. Genesis barked playfully at his side, attempting to cheers up his best friend.

"Heh. Too bad all the cute chicks are taken, eh boy ?" he smiled as he patted the wolf's head.

Doing up the last of his buttons, Skylar made his way over of his room, greeted by Paige.

"C'mon Skylar, she's waiting ! !" she hissed playfully at him as they raced quickly down the corridors.

Approaching the main hall, the prince slowed to a stop, his sister rushing around him adjusting his clothes, messing with his hair, trying to make him look a little for civilized. He growled at her, Genesis joining in and eventually Paige returned to his side as they came behind a large curtain just behind the thrones in the hall. He sighed as his father, King Christopher stood to greet the princess standing towards the entrance.

"And now, may we present Prince Skylar Frederick Cameron James Dublair of the Royal Family of the land of Tuscaloos !" the king announced.

Skylar sighed again and face-palm'd, looking at his sister out of the corner of his vision, his eyes desperate and pleading. Genesis whined with him, sharing his emotions.

"Paige, I really don't wanna -"

THUMP ! !

Skylar flew through the curtains and landed in a large lump, his face smushed into the hard, cold stone floor. He groaned and rolled over, clutching at his face as Genesis also ran through the curtain and began licking at his face.

"Uuugh. Down, boy. Down." he mumbled as he remained on the floor, already feeling a large bruise forming on his pale face.

Both Addie and Lord Pennington rushed over to help the prince, although Addie herself was giggling. Her uncle chuckled a bit but helped him up anyway. Elaine was about to stop her from helping as it seemed un-princess like, but the queen had a knowing look in her eyes and stopped her. The governess looked back and soon understood her majesty's intent.

"Are you alright?" Addie asked, helping him up. She was thinking that he might be not as clumsy as he is right now. "You must be Prince Skylar. It's nice to meet you." She curtsied in front of him, a gentle smile on her lips. Lord Pennington nodded to her.

"It seems things are going nicely." Chandler whispered to Elaine's ear. Addie was like the daughter she never had, and mostly treated her like how a mother would treat her daughter. Addie herself doesn't communicate well with her parents, unless she was loudly complaining about something. Elaine smiled.

Adelaide soon saw the prince's dog, Genesis, and cooed over him. "What's his name?" She asked, clearly interested in the wolf. She wanted to pat his head badly that she asked, "May I pat him?" Elaine and the queen were outraged. But, they couldn't risk an outburst before the king of Tuscaloosa. Besides, the king of Cristiana liked dogs and wolves, anyway.

Skylar growled playfully as the man and the girl from his window helped him up. His golden eyes looked around the room, alert.

"Yeah, I'm fine." he mumbled.

A look of disapointment was already wavering on his father's face. Skylar winked at him and stood up straight.

"Prince Skylar, ma'am !" he announced, saluting her with a smile on his face.

Genesis barked and stuck pout his tongue with the prince in play jest. He rolled over onto his back playfully at the approach of Adelaide.

"He's Genesis." Skylar replied. "And you better ask him yourself. What am I, telepathic ?"

Genesis barked again, sitting up and nuzzling the princess' hand, licking it. Skylar cocked his head to one side, curious as to her response.

Addie smiled and giggled once Genesis licked her hand. "Genesis. What a perfect name for a wolf like him." She commented as she gently scratched him behind the ears. She then stood up and saluted Prince Skylar back. She knew that Elaine's face would probably be distorted by now, but she didn't care.

"Princess Adelaide, sir!" She laughed as she finished saluting him. Addie never had this much fun with someone like her. Usually, they were stuffy or boring to talk with. "I wish I had a wolf like yours." She commented.

(( Holy fudge muffins, I do apologise for being away for so long ! ))

Skyllar beamed from ear to ear as he watched the princess pet the wolf. Genesis hummed appreciatively at the gesture and barked as the girl stood. The prince smiled at the princess as she saluted him back, laughing with her. Maybe she wasn't such a brat after all. Skyllar hadn't heard much about the mysterious princess of a far away land, but what he had heard was that she was a vain little girl who loved a good debate. Suddenly, Adelaide didn't seem so awful, and the dark, depressing prospect of marrying her didn't seem quite so horrible after all.

"Well, if our parents get what they want and we end up married," he replied, winking at the princess. "I'll take you to see the rest of the pack. They'd love you !"

((Honestly, I have forgotten about this thread... But, so glad that you're back!))

Adelaide cleared her throat as she heard the prince say those words. She liked him, that's for sure. But, marrying? She knew that she would have to marry sooner or later, according or against her parents' wishes. 'But what about friends? There's nothing wrong about that, right?' Addie thought, remembering the gossip she had heard from the servants about the foreign prince.

Addie smiled, making up her mind. "Alright!" She suddenly felt like a little girl again. When she was young, she used to run the hallways of the castle, shrieking, "Catch me! Catch me!" And her father would always be right in front of her, trapping her in his arms.

(( Me too ! It's just such an awesome storyline ! :3 ))

Skyllar's curiosity spiked as he watched the princess go through her thought processes. Nobody else would probably ever pick up on it, but being a member of the pack, the young prince noticed all the little thinks, all the intricate details which made him a master hunter. Sure, he hadn't ever actually eaten the prey of the pack, but he sure had helped to take it down. He smiled as the princess spoke, listening to her soft, excited voice. She was obviously a girl of adventure.

"So, uh . . ." Skyllar looked around the hall, meeting with almost every pair of eyes in the room as they starred at him. "What're we s'post to do now ?"

"Her highness wishes to speak to the princess, your majesty." Adelaide's governess announced, slightly curtsying to the prince. Addie looked behind her and let out a small sigh, knowing that she would be receiving yet another one of her mother's speeches about how she should act like this and like that. Lord Pennington cleared his throat and said, "Well, the guests need to be escorted to their rooms, since I'm sure they're tired from that long journey." As if on cue, two servants led the Royal Family of Cristiana (except the king himself) to their proper rooms.

'I didn't know Uncle Augustin is known here. I wonder what he has been doing all these years.' Addie thought as she walked, folding her hands, meeting nervous glances from Chandler as she did so.

Skyllar's arms dropped to his sides as he listened to the governess. He nodded to her, accepting the request and sighed at the same time as the princess. He gazed at her longingly, wishing that they had more time to just be friends. Frowning as he watched Adelaide walk away, his heart sank slightly as he felt his sister pulling him towards his father, the King. He waved at the princess before being turned abruptly around to face the white-haired man.

"Now, son. I understand that this must be difficult for you." the man whispered to Skyllar, leaning forward in his throne. "But I trust that you are being . . . friendly to my dearest friend's daughter ?"

Skyllar crossed his arms and sighed, raising an eyebrow as he waited to see if the King would add anything else to the question. When realizing he wasn't going to, the young prince finally replied.

"Ya'know Dad, everything would probably be going even better if you'd keep your royal nose outta it." he replied casually. Skyllar had never been one to sugar-coat things -- he was a man of truth. "Do we have to do this in front of the entire court ? I mean, your only son's not enjoying being locked up in a cage with another female and getting oogled at by passers-by."

The King sighed and placed his head inside his hands, shaking slightly.

"Now, Skyllar. You know how--"

"My name is Zelda." The prince cut in, tired of having to repeat himself.

"Look, the king of Cristiana and I have been firm allies since the dark ages. We have battled together, we have dined together, we have bunked under the same roof for decades." the King continued, ignoring his son. "And now, we shall be united through both yours and the princess' hands in marriage. And if you dare to pull a wild, wolf-boy stunt, I shall have you chained up with the rest of the castle's hunting dogs and you shall spend the rest of your days lapping scraps out of a dish. Do you understand ? !"

Skyllar dropped his hands to his sides and shook his head, attempting to shake the immense pressure building up on top of him. "As you wish." he replied quietly, turning his back on his father once again.

"...act like a princess should be. Now, I know that this prince is notoriously known to be wild..." Queen Penelope scrunched up her nose as she went on. They were all in Adelaide's assigned room, she sitting on her bed, cross-legged, while both Chandler and Elaine were standing, their eyes focusing on the two forever arguing high ladies of the kingdom of Cristiana.

Addie's eyes kept focusing on either her mother and the door. Half of her decided to just walk out the door and have fun with Skyllar, while the other half told her to firmly stay put. She is the kind of girl who furiously debates with anyone who defies her but her mother is, sometimes, one of her exceptions.

'I love her, but she can sometimes be a pain.' Addie thought, her impatient hands tapping on the soft fabric of the bed she was sitting on at that moment. She can't wait until her mother could finish so that she could repeat the same words she has said every time her elders think she has done something wrong.

"I am very sorry for my actions and I promise I won't do it again." She said in a monotone voice, a smile tugging at the end of her lips. The queen nodded, as if she didn't get her daughter's smirk, and exited the room, making Addie sigh with relief. Chandler instantly went to the bathroom to prepare her bath while Elaine sat alongside her.

"You know, I think your mother may be secretly proud that you're getting along with this boy." Elaine mused. Addie looked at her governess with disbelief. 'Me? My forever arguing mother is proud of me?' She shook her head and smirked. "Right." She refused to believe her words, but she couldn't help but wonder.

Deciding that the grand hall was getting a little too empty for his liking, Skyllar decided to wander back to his room. Paige followed after him as loyally as Genesis -- the prince could imagine his sister with a fluffy tail swishing between her legs !

"She seemed nice, don't you think, Zelda ?" the girl commented as they made their way up the spiral staircase. "Oh, I could just imagine you two at one of the kingdom's great balls, twirling intricately as you danced like two magnets across a starry sky . . ."

Paige wandered off, beginning to dance with herself as she went, giggling at the thought of her own mischievous little brother with somebody of the opposite gender. Skyllar sighed and caught his head in his hand as he watched his sister clumsily dancing across the stone floor. He continued on to his room, leaving Paige outside and turning the lock in the door before curling up with Genesis on the soft, plush bed.

Adelaide was able to take a bath, by herself. She couldn't stand someone else with her while she was privately washing herself. Many princesses who met her would think of it as unusual, but then she is an unusual girl. After, she placed on one of her simpler dresses and sat near the window, her hair slightly wet.

"I think your mother may be secretly proud that you're getting along with this boy." Elaine's words kept repeating themselves in her mind. 'Was she as stubborn as me? Honestly, I know nothing about her, except that she was forced into an arranged marriage with someone else before she met my father.' Addie has heard the story hundreds and hundreds of times already. The King has this thing for memories and this was one he wouldn't let go.

What Addie was confused about was how the loving, dazzling creature that her father loved would be the annoying, vain mother she knew today. Sure, she's still as beautiful as she was when she was younger, but Addie guessed that things change over time.

Addie got up and walked out of her room. She decided to explore the castle since she would be marrying the prince anyway. She wasn't to excited about the marriage, but she thinks that friendship is enough. Both Chandler and Elaine weren't there to spy on her as she did so anyway.

"I wonder is this castle has any secret passageways?" She asked herself, remembering the secret passageways she has discovered back at her castle. She half-hoped that Skyllar would be there to give her a tour of the castle.

(( Happy Hallowe'en ! :3 ♥ ))

Skyllar's head snapped up as he heard the slightest tapping coming from outside his room. Footsteps against the cold, stone floor. Hmm. Nobody ever came to this part of the castle in fear of running into the prince when he was in a bad mood. Who would be dumb enough to . . . Wait. The princess. Perhaps it's her.

Jumping up from his bed, Skyller made his way to the door and opened it slightly, peering through the crack between the wood and the wall. Oh, yes. Just a few paces down the corridor stood the girl he was set to marry in less than a week's time. And, now that he though about it, the young prince didn't think it was going to be that bad. She wasn't exactly ugly, and she was pretty funny, too. He continued to watch her as she walked down the corridor, wondering if he should intervene or not. It seemed that Genesis, however, who had just woken up from a short nap on the bed, had other plans. He pushed the door open with his nose and barked happily as he bounded up to the princess, jumping at her as his tail wagged franticly between his legs. Skyllar emerged from behind the door and approached Adelaide.

Adelaide's thoughts were interrupted by the barking of Genesis, the prince's dog. "There you are! Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?" She scratched his ears and laughed. Her eyes then found the prince approaching her. "Hi again." Addie smiled and straightened herself, the dog at her heels.

"Genesis is such an energetic dog, isn't he?" Addie mused, dusting the dog hair on her dress. She didn't care; the hair was barely noticeable on her dress. It was nearly the same color as the dog.

Skyllar smiled warmly, his amber-green eyes included, in reply to Adelaide.

"Hey." he greeted the princess casually, looking down at his wolf friend who was obviously enjoying the attention from the girl. "Well, technically, he's not a dog. More of a wolf."

Chuckling to himself, the prince noticed the gown Adelaide was wearing. He coughed into his hand awkwardly, as if attempting to muffle his next comment.

"You, uh . . . You look nice." he complimented the girl, a slight rose blush rising to his cheeks.

"Oh. Thank you." Adelaide smiled, a faint blush rising to her cheeks. She nervously looked down to her dress; she didn't think it was anything special. "I just put it on." She added.

"Say, would you mind giving me a tour of the castle?" Addie asked. She then quickly added, "I mean, since I'm going to have to live here..." Her voice trailed away, not knowing what to say.

"Of course, princess !" Skyllar replied eagerly, bowing to Adelaide and holding out an arm for her to take.

Genesis barked playfully, his tongue rolling to one side of his mouth as he panted, his tail moving faster than a flying bird's wings. It seemed to be his most common expression ;; goofily happy.

"So, m'lady. Where would you like to go first ?" the prince asked inquisitively. "We could take a blissful walk through the castle gardens, or we could go for a stroll in the forest, or we could go out to the lake and visit the froggies."

Adelaide took his arm politely and smiled. She was beginning to warm up to him more. She had simply thought that he was a wild boy like she had always heard from her servants' gossip. 'Now that may be true, but I don't see it in him yet.' She thought.

"The gardens. I love going outside." Addie chimed, remembering the gardens that she had back home. She knew that her dress wasn't suited for the outside, but she didn't mind.
