Elaine ran as fast as she could down the alley way. She had no idea how far behind they were or how far she had even gotten all she knew was that she hoped to hell there weren't any more ahead of her. The bullets she had brought as spares ran out hours ago and she'd dropped the only weapon she had into the snarling face of one of the mutated lifeforms she'd once called a part of her community. Her breathing was getting harder, "Damn why'd I have to slack so much on my cardio?" she cursed herself.
The zombie invasion began six months ago. The television always made it seem like a zombie would be a slow, shambling, mess of a man, but instead these monsters were alive. Souls trapped and deformed inside a decaying body. They were more like trapped lions than some brain craving machine. She'd seen several deaths occur where they did not even eat the victim. They simply tore them apart as if it were a sport for them. She just wished she'd known where they came from and how she could get them to leave.
She was close to the entrance of the warehouse now. It was the one safe place in town that had yet to be penetrated. Once inside you could be safe, but the tricky part was getting inside.

Inside the warehouse Joshua stared intently from a high window. The entire compound was surrounded by them. Those things, they hunt us like livestock. Many of my friends have been torn apart infront of my very eyes. Alone in this safe place, almost all of the resources are used up. Weapons, food, water, gas, we have little left but he was the only one left. Dident know what to do alone. He know he was immune, unlike many others he had been bitten a while back and have not turned, He found that the infection had changed him a little, but luckily it was not contageous. He gained superior strength, speed, sight among other abilitys while retaining the form of a normal human, but they where only small improvements compaired to some of the monstrosities out there.
He stared at the lookout window and saw a women outsided running to the blocked enterence. She looked human and frantic having a few of them running after her. I loaded my bow and shot the zombies down one by one. I quickly threw out a note telling her to use the side enterence that was a metal garrage like doors. Then ran to meet her.
People may ask why i use a bow, its very quiet and it avoids attracting more of them. Its silent and deadly, but it only works well at range. Its only good at look out points and towers.

She caught one of the monsters falling behind her, but decided it would be best to keep running. She had no idea why the beast dropped, but she really did not care as long as it was no longer on her tail. A small paper floated before her and she snatched it as quickly as she could. Notes were the lifeline that the few survivors clung to. Trying to keep running as she fumbled with the paper she opened it up. "The side entrance" she muttered to herself and pushed towards it. Once the metal doors came into view she began getting excited. She might actually make it through one more day alive. She might actually have a shot to sleep for a full night.
The prospect of a full nights sleep alone was enough to give her a new burst of energy. Her legs seemed to lose the weighty pains they'd previously acquired and she could breathe easier. Once she reached the doors she began banging on them. "Come on, come on, come on. I don't know how much longer I have!" she yelled.
Shooting a quick glance backwards she noticed that the few that were following her were gone. This gave her momentary relief, but she knew that others were never far behind.

The door slid up and revield a women of arround 20 years of age. Long black hair tied in a pony tail tho it was in a little bit of a mess, tanned and healthy, thin as she may be she dident look like she was use to doing too much running. She had no weapons or major wounds on her so it was a relief. She looked really tired and anxious, maby from having to hide out and worry about those things that are hunting us.
He grabed her arm and pulled her in then slammed down the gate. "Come in quickly!" He yelled.
He was curious why is she alone and how did she survive till now...
"You come with me and wait there quietly" I pointed at a couch.
Staring intently at her as I lead her up to the seating area. He begain to make some tea for the lady seeing how anxious she was. At the same time he prepaired some bandages and other things for her to clean up with.
He set down a tub of hot water and a towel for her to wash up with, and got some clean clothes from storage.
"Do you have any friends? Or is it just you" he inquired.
I walked back up to the look out spot to give the lady some privacy as she cleaned up, and to spot for more of them.
A few of them are especially deadly and would rip this place apart and it would be in the best interests to shoot them down before they came here. I had some weapons reserved just for that purpose.

"It's just me, sir." she responded attempting to be a little loud since it seemed he had wandered off and was a little distracted.
She began running the wash towel over her arms and face. It felt so good to be cleaning up. It'd be quite a while and the sweat mixed with the days of being unable to stop and shower was getting to her. She decided to take advantage of the privacy he had given her and switched into the cleaner clothes. One never knew when they would be able to acquire such again and this was short of a small blessing.
"So...is there anyone else around or is it just you? YOu wouldn't happen to have some food, would you? I know it's a lot to ask, but I'm willing to try and resupply once I get some rest if it is needed." she offered. Her voice was unsteady, but it was hard to be confident when you knew there were monsters just outside the door waiting to eat you alive or just tear you apart for fun. Being at the bottom of the food chain left one rather depleted of any form of self confidence. Situations like this were what made her regret not caring more for the animals she had devoured in her past life. Past life. The life before the zombies. God how she missed those days.

"Dont call me sir" He said "Im actually only 23, all of them died comming here. It has only been me for a while. Its great to have some company thats not a drooling idiot looking on making a snack out of us."
He looked older than he was but not old and frail, but more in his late 20s or even early 30s.
He threw a few cans gentaly to her, it consisted of meatballs, canned veggies, and canned fruit.
"Go to the deep freezer there should be some frozen eggs in there. and the stove is to the left of it."
The warehouse for some strange reason never ran out of electricity and he wanted to make the most use of this.
I watched as she made herself something to eat at the same time trying to look out for some zombies.
The safe house was wonderful with all the stuff it had, but the problem is food and water was growing scarace.
And with two people it would run out quickly. He decided to confide this to the girl.
"This place is great, a little slice of paradise in this hell, but we dont have enough food or water, it should only last us for a week or so. Have you ever been bitten? are you immune? Its best you rest up for the next week cause im leaving with or without you. I must find more food and water. A better safe house that can supply this. If not find it then bring it back here."
I said that with the hopes that she would be willing to come with me and help me look. This place with its electricity is amazing but food and water are even more important. But i dont know when ill see another alive human again.

"Sorry. it has been a while since i've seen someone else so I am not quite used to the whole responding to people you don't know thing."
She ate ravenously as she got the food not really caring to take the time to heat it up. After she got an actual meal into her for once she would try to use the next time to cook. She listened to him talk about the dwindling food supply and nodded. Once her mouth was empty she replied, "After I get a day or twos rest I would be more than happy to help you out with gathering more supplies. I've been wandering around for days and there really is no other safe place nearby so if you're fine with holing out here for as long as we can find food and whatnot I am fine with that too. However, we do need to look for somewhere that we can resupply my ammunition as I have run out."
She shoved a few more mouthfuls of the cold meatballs into her mouth and chewed. It'd been too long since she'd been with someone else and she lost most of her manners. When you had to eat as quickly as you could to avoid being eaten yourself you tend to stop caring if someone else is going to be grossed out by how you eat.

"Careful not to choak." He shouted
Guns... I got some but i dont trust her enough yet to hand her one. Perhapse when we are out to get food i will.
"I got a few weapons you can use when we are out" He replyed.
"I got some ideas on the water departnment, We need supplys to build a rain catcher and a filtration system. This can then be pluged into our plumbing and we will have running water, its almost rain season, so this would work well."
The real problem is food. Where can we find any food?
"We need to find a car too to carry the goods and whatnaught." he said.
I slowly write down on the list the things we need.
"You got any ideas on where to go for those things? " He enquired
Feeling tired i streached... Its tireing being so tense all the time...
I dont know when i have felt relaxed since the apocolypse. Every one i knew has died, everything i knew has been destroyed. All that i had known is gone, and the world is fulla zombies. We where the top of our food chain but now we are at the bottem. What now? I dont know anymore. Who to trust.
I looked at the radio and fiddled with it. The thing would pick up signals sometimes, Alot of them called for help, But then others warned us that there are scammers who kill you and loot your stuff. Its a tought world.
I find it hard to trust this girl but, at the same time i find it hard not to. I havent seen a normal face for months and it was getting very lonely.

She slowed down her eating at his request. Once she had finished up and he'd finished listing off the things he thought they might need she replied, "I know where we can get a car. I also know of a few grocery stores that have not been completely ransacked yet, but we'll need something to cover our faces. The perishable items have definitely perished in there."
She laughed at her feeble attempt at a joke. Seeing him stretch she yawned. She sure was tired. It had been a long day and that run was beyond what she was use to. After realizing this she turned to him and hesitantly asked, " Hey, you wouldn't mind if I got in a little bit of sleep would you? Its been kind of a long day for me. I'd love to talk in the morning though."
She hoped he wasn't going to be too upset by this request, but she just couldn't imagine keeping herself awake for too much longer much less to have an actual conversation during that time. She'd known a few places to gather quite a few of the things, but she wasn't too sure she wanted to share all of the locations so far. Grocery stores weren't too hard to find, but places to get quality lumber and such things were. She'd run a few missions with him first and then decide if he was trustworthy enough to learn of the few other places.

"Beds that way" He pointed out.
He stared out and wondered, what their future will be like. What would they do if they found more people?
The world outside is dangerous now. Zombies lurk everywhere, People will attack you for all you have.
Perhapse He should plan our outings before hand, he thought.
The routes outside are filled with the undead, and the lands are harsh. It is best to keep a mask as she said.
What would they do if they ran in to those that are special, those evolved monstrosities that where once human, the ones that are stronger than the rest. What would they do then. Those super zombies are too much for 2 armed people to take down... They do have weapons but not enough, They need more and they should look for them.
He had also seen infected animals which prove to be a danger to them all. They where faster and stronger then normal zombies, We as humans where only supirior to animas because we had intelligence, Zombies have none just instinct. And when you compair them to those zombie animals. The animals are worse by far. Faster, stronger, bigger than they regular zombies, I really dont want to meet one again. The last time i suffered a huge wound that left a hidious scar.
I have also been cheated by other humans which tried to rob me and my comrads when we heard a sos signal.
Its quite dangerous out there.
