Kakashi stood in the graveyard for a long time; silently looking at the tombstone that rose before him. Finally he sighed and turned away; his hands stuffed into his pockets. Of course, he was late again. It was way past time for him to meet his new pupils. Despite being late, Kakashi took his time as he slowly made his way to the school. He was lost in thought; his fingers playing with the edge of his book hidden in his pocket.

It didn't take him very much longer to reach the classroom where his students awaited him. The jounin heard the a commotion within the room as he neared. The door was slightly ajar, and without any hesitation, Kakashi reached forward and stepped through the doorway; just as Naruto's pathetic booby trap fell on his head.

The smile beneath his mask was hidden, as a young girl spoke up nervously. "I'm so sorry sensei! I tried to stop him, but Naruto.." Kakashi rubbed his chin in thought, and suddenly interrupted Sakura. "Hmmm... how should I say this..?" He began, looking the three gonin over. "My first impression is.. that I don't like you guys." Kakashi let that sink in for a moment before beckoning them to follow. "Alright, follow me then." He added, before turning and heading towards the roof. Maybe some fresh air would cheer him up.

"Naruto. That isn't going to work. He's a trained jonin." Sasuke said annoyed. He was leaning against the desk he sat at, head in his hands. He couldn't believe he had been stuck with these losers.

"Shut up! Yes it will! You'll see!" Naruto exclaimed. He stepped back from the door and waited. And sure enough, the trap fell on the man entering. He was instantly grinning like and idiot.

Sasuke was even more annoyed that their first impression was ruined because of Naruto. Why couldn't that idiot grow up?! He sighed silently as he stood and followed after the man. Naruto and Sakura following close behind.

Kakashi stood on the roof, and waved for the gonin to take the seats before him. "Well I guess we should begin with some introductions." He began, leaning against the roof's railing and crossing his arms. "We can start with your likes, dislikes, dreams for the future, hobbies, and all that." He clarified, looking at the team intently.

"Hey! Why don't you introduce yourself first!?" Naruto inturrupted, "And why were you so late? We were waiting for over an hour!" He demanded, pointing an accusing finger at his new sensei.

"Yeah!" Sakura piped in. "And you look suspisious..." She murmured.

Kakashi threw up his arms like he was caught. "Hey, alright. My name is Kakashi Hatake. I don't feel like telling you all my likes and dislikes. And dreams for the future.. hmmm well I have a lot of hobbies." He answered cryptically. "Now, let's start from the right." Naruto instantly perked up, and began to tell about himself. Declaring that he was going to surpass the Hokage, and have everyone in the village acknowledge him. Kakashi seemed a little surprised to hear about Naruto's dream for the future. It's obvious that he loves ramen, but I wasn't expecting him to.. have grown up this way. He thought, before his eye turned on the boy sitting next to Naruto. "Alright, next."

Sasuke sat on down, his elbows resting on his knees. He knew that the jonin wasn't going to say anything personal about himself. They never did. He barely listened when Naruto was talking. He didn't think that the loser was worth his attention. He focused on the jonin when he was spoken to.

"My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I don't like anything. And dislike just about everything. My dream isn't a dream, but a goal. And it is to kill a certain someone." he said. That was a specific as he was going to get. About anything. He just wanted to get started on the training so that he could get stronger.

.....Now that's what I expected... He thought before turning his attention to Sakura. "Alright, now you." And it came as no surprise to Kakashi that the girl was more interested in love, as she soon began blushing. He took a seat on the railing with a sigh. "Okay, that's enough." He inturrupted, trying hard not to roll his eyes. It seemed like the only mature one in his group was Sasuke. "Now tomorrow we will begin your first duties as a team." Kakashi waved Naruto down as the blonde quickly got excited. "I will instruct you in your first survival training. Now it won't be like the training at the accademy, as I will be your opponent." He added with a smile before giving a soft chuckle. This was his favorite part.

As the group looked confused, he explained. "Only nine students will pass and actually become genin, and this exam is the toughest; with over sixty-six percent of students failing!" He finished with a grin, as he let that sink in. Naruto, of course, flipped out, but Kakashi continued relentlessly. "Now, tomorrow bring all of your tools. I will be grading you on the training field." The jounin stepped forward and pulled out some papers, which he handed to each student. "Everything is explained in there, and do not be late." Kakashi turned to leave, but stopped to add one more bit of information.

"By the way, you probably shouldn't eat breakfast, because you will throw it up." With that, he gave the trio a parting wave and jumped off the building.

Sasuke watched as Kakashi jumped off the building. He took the paper that was given to him and folded it up, slipping it into his pocket. Then he jumped off the building in a different way than the jonin. He wasn't going to wait for tomorrow to begin training. He headed to the training fields, arriving shortly. Then he began his training. Mainly by throwing kunai at a dummy and pretending that it was Itachi. That always helped him focus.

Kakashi was in the middle of running a few errands when he came across the training field. There were few people there, but one in particular drew the jounin's attention. He casually leaned against a nearby tree, careful to stay hidden within the tree's shadow, so he would remain undetected. Of course this would happen.. He thought as the young Uchiha continuely threw kunai at a dummy. There were very few people that knew that Kakashi and Obito had been a couple. I have a feeling things are going to get very complicated..

After a moment, he sighed and turned away. There were still things he had to finish before tomorrow, and it was already getting dark.

Sasuke continued training. He could tell when people came and went through the area. But he didn't focus on any one in particular. 'Die Itachi!' he thought, throwing more kunai before moving closer to attack. He stopped when night started to fall.

He gathered up his kunai and put them away. He needed to get some rest for tomorrow. It was going to be a long day. He headed home.

Kakashi woke up late, of course, and took his time getting dressed and packing his bag. By now, his team should have been waiting for a little over an hour, but this did not inspire any urgency within the jounin. In fact, he merely walked to the training field where he found the trio waiting for him. "Good morning!" He exclaimed, with an innocent smile.

He reached within his backpack and pulled out a timer as Naruto and Sakura yelled at him about being late again. Little did they know, that this would become a common occurance. "This timer is set for noon." He explained before he held up two little bells with his other hand. "And these are the two bells you will attempt to get from me, before your time is up. If you do not possess a bell by noon, then i will tie you up to of those stumps and you will not get to eat lunch." Kakashi smiled as he waved towards the stumps. "Also, there are only two bells here, so one of you will go hungry. And... the one who doesnt take a bell gets sent back to the academy."

It was almost laughable that Sakura was worried about him, and that Naruto actually thought he would easily be beaten. "Those with no talent often bark the loudest, Naruto. Now lets ignore Mr. Dead Last, and begin when I say.." It was obvious that he could easily press the young blonde's buttons, as he quickly pulled out a kunai and rushed Kakashi. The jounin moved, and within a blink of the eye, he had Naruto by his hair and the boy's kunai pressed against his own neck. "Now slow down. I haven't even told you to start yet." He said, grinning. "Coming at me with the intent to kill.. hee he, I think I am begining to like you guys. Ready now? ...START!"

Sasuke woke up early to get to the training area. Shortly after he arrived, Sakura arrived. And she instantly started flirting with him. He ignored her the best he could. Then after ten minutes, Naruto arrived.

After a long time of waiting did Kakashi finally arrived. Sasuke glared at him for a brief moment while the others yelled at him. He wasn't surprised by what they were being asked to do. Of course there would be some test. And of course Naruto had to charge him.

The second they were given the command to start did they scatter. He landed on a branch up in a nearby tree. He watched Kakashi intently, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Kakashi stood near the lake, one hand in his pocket as he casually looked around. Good.. it seems they have all hidden themselves quite well. Unfortunately, Kakashi thought wrong, as Naruto suddenly yelled for him to come out and fight him. After a pause, at which he stared at Naruto like he was an idiot, he responded. "Uhh.. you're a little off here, Naruto."

Of course the blonde didn't hesitate to charge towards the jounin again, but he skidded to a stop when he noticed that Kakashi's hand went into the pouch at his side. "Lesson number one is Taijutsu, which I will now teach you about.." He explained as he fished out his copy of Come, Come Paradise, much to the shock of his students. After a moment of no attack, Kakashi spoke again. "C'mon, I haven't got all day. So don't worry about the book. I just want to read wat happens next, and it won't even make a difference against you guys.."

He wasn't trying to be mean or anything, but it was the truth. Kakashi was on a completely different level than his students. That is why they are students, and he is the teacher. However, that didn't sit well with Naruto; whom rushed Kakashi once more. The jounin easily blocked the attack, and quickly ended up behind him. "A ninja never gets caught from behind." He warned, as his hands made the sign of the tiger. "Hidden Leaf Ancient Taijutsu Supreme Technique: A THOUSAND YEARS OF PAIN!" He exclaimed, before he sent Naruto flying into the lake.

Immediately after, Kakashi went back to reading; easily catching Naruto's shuriken with one finger. He laughed as the young boy crawled out of the water. "Hey, done already? You know, your pretty weak for someone who said they are going to surpass the Hokage. At this rate, you won't be eating any lunch." He observed before casually walking away.

He didn't get far, however, before seven clones jumped from the lake. Kakashi turned to face Naruto once more. "No matter how many you make, you are still Naruto. You can't beat me with that technique, but you are welcome to try." But at that moment, Naruto jumped onto his back. A look of surprise marred Kakashi's face as more of Naruto's clones grabbed a hold of him. Unfortunately for Naruto, he just ended up punching himself as the jounin easily escaped.

Finally, Naruto released his jutsu and when he scanned the area for Kakashi, he noticed a bell that lay at the base of a nearby tree. But when he attempted to retrieve it, he fell into Kakashi's trap. "Think before you use a jutsu, Naruto, because it can be used against you." He scolded as he lept from the tree and picked up the bell. "And try not to fall for such obvious traps."

'Naruto is such an idiot.' Sasuke thought, watching him attack the jonin. He knew that upright attacking him wasn't going to work. He was going to wait for the others to try first before making his move.

And sure enough, Sakura went after him next. She walked around, kunai in hand, searching for the jonin. How hard could it be to find him?

Sasuke didn't bother watching her. If he was patient, he would get his turn. It just might take a while to get there. But when he did, he would win. He WAS stronger than the other two combined after all.

Time for lesson two: GenJutsu.. He thought, leaving Naruto hanging from the tree. Sakura soon caught sight of him, and snuck after the jounin as he walked beneath the trees and further into the forest. His eye was glued to the book in his hand, and eventually he stopped. "You should really look behind you, Sakura." He observed, much to the girl's surprise.

With her heart beating wildly, Sakura turned and stared at Kakashi. She fell into his GenJutsu easily, and when she thought she saw Sasuke's battered form, she screamed. Maybe I went a little too far with that one.. Kakashi crouched on a tree limb a little ways away from Sakura's prone figure.

That was when Sasuke attacked. He tackled Kakashi out of the tree. Then head on attacked. Sure, he knew that it probably wouldn't work. But he did it anyway.

After a few minutes of attacking, he jumped back a few feet. He did a few handsigns. 'Fire-style. Dragon's flame jutsu.' he though. Fire came up and out of his mouth, directed at Kakashi. He was sure there was no way to get out of that.

Kakashi had to admit that Sasuke was impressive for a genin, but when the flames died down, the jounin was nowhere to be seen. Instead, his hand broke through the ground beneath Sasuke and grabbed a hold of the boy's leg. Earth Type: Inner Decapitation Technique

He pulled, Sasuke beneath the surface of the ground; only leaving his head sticking out. With the Uchiha unable to move, Kakashi rose from the ground and kneeled before him. "Lesson number three, is Ninjutsu, but don't worry Sasuke.. your a head above the others on this one." He teased with a smile.

Sasuke was a bit surprised when the flames died and the jounin was gone. He looked around for him, but froze when he felt himself being grabbed and being pulled down.

He glared at him. He tried to get out of the ground, but couldn't move. "Let me out of this!" he told him. He was literally going to kill him if he didn't let him out. He couldn't stand being trapped like this. He needed to be free to move.

"Nope!" He replied, with a grin. "It will be good practice for you to get out on your own." Kakashi explained, while he stood. His head tilted as he heard the whine of the timer. "Now hurry up and meet your team at the stumps." Kakashi's clone disappeared with a poof of smoke; leaving Sasuke by himself.

Back at the stumps, Naruto was already tied up, and Sakura approached with a defeated look. This time, Kakashi wasn't the last to arrive, as he sat waiting on the team; Come, Come Paradise in his hands as he began reading once more.

Sasuke glared at the man as he spoke. He was already hating him. After he left, he spent a few minutes getting free from the ground. It took a lot of work. But he did eventually get it.

He arrived at the stumps and glared at the jounin. He stopped next to the tied up Naruto. "Now what?" he asked. He was ready to just leave and train on his own. That would go so much better.

Kakashi didn't look up from his book as Sasuke finally joined them, but did stand and face the trio. "Well eveyrone, I have come to my conclusion." He began, closing his book and shoving it back into the pouch at his hip. "You all should give up on being shinobi." He stated, no longer playing around. They had failed his test, and he was done with them. It was a shame, he knew, as his eye slide to Sasuke. There was potential, but if they couldn't learn the first lesson, then it was a waste.

Sasuke watched the jounin as he stood. He couldn't believe what was said though. There was no way he was going to give up being a shinobi. If he did, he would never achieve his goals.

"What?!?! That's not fair!!!" Naruto shouted. He was glaring at Kakashi, as was Sasuke.

"What? Why?" Sakura asked, confused.

"Why? Because there is no teamwork here. If you had actually worked together then you might have been able to get the bells, but you didn't." He explained, watching their reactions. Yet Sakura remained confused as she stared at the two bells that hung from the jounin's belt.

But there are only two bells!" She exclaimed, scowling. "How could that be teamwork, if one of us would fail? Unless this was just meant to make us fight eachother!"

"Well, duh. That's the way the test was set up. You were suppose to overcome your own interests and worked together to obtain the bells anyways. Instead, you each went off by yourselves. Individual strength may be an important part of being a shinobi, but teamwork is even more valuable. Individuals who disrupt this, can get their team killed." He told them, as he made his way to a stone memorial. "Do you see these names writen here? These are people who the village have recognised as heroes. All whom have died while on duty." He explained, staring at the names before him; his back facing the trio. "My best friend's name is carved here.."

He stared at Obito's name for a moment, before turning back to the trio. "I will give you one more chance after lunch to get the bells, but I will make it a lot harder. Now you two can eat, but not Naruto. If you give him any food, then you fail." With that, Kakashi disappeared in a poof of smoke.

"That's fine! I can handle this! I can go all day without food!" Naruto yelled. But then his stomach started growling loudly. Which made his yelling stop.

Sasuke sighed as he looked at his food. Then he held it up to Naruto. "Here." he muttered.


"What? Why?"

"Because if we're going to do this then we need everyone at top strength."

Sakura held out her meal too. "Here. I'm on a diet anyway." she said.

Kakashi was hidden behind a nearby tree, and could easily hear the trio. It's about time.. He thought, smiling. Suddenly, a cloud of smoke appeared before the group. "YOU GUYS...!" Kakashi roared, his form appearing within the smoke. "Pass!" He was still smiling as the smoke disipated, and left him standing before the genin.

"We pass!?" Sakura exclaimed. "But, how? We didn't get the bells.."

"Yep, you guys are the first to pass my test. A successful ninja must always take care of his comrades. So, starting tomorrow, team seven will begin their duties!"
