Maeve quickened her steps, her red stillettos clicking against the sidewalk. It's that man again! She thought angrily, as she hurried around a corner. Maeve pulled her little black coat tighter around her. It was late in the afternoon, and some of the stores on the street were nearing their closing time. She turned to glance back down the street, and seeing as he hadn't yet come around the corner, Maeve pulled open the door to the nearest store and hurried inside. She walked a ways inside and hid behind a shelf of books.

Her heart was beating rapidly as she calmed her breathing. She had just gotten off of work, and her black business suit was not made to go running in. Her long strides had made the skirt come up a ways on her shapely legs, and she had to pull it back down. How embarrassing.. She thought, wiping her wavy black hair from her face. She sighed unhappily. I must look a mess..

"Hi, can I help you?" a girl whom looked about seventeen spoke. She had short blonde hair with green eyes and a silver tint. She stood about 5"5 and looked as if she was a child. She was wearing a working apron, and worked in the store. She had seen the young woman in the business suit come in quite quickly and went to an unknown destitation. Luckily outside it was sunny and bright with very few clouds for a slight breeze. It was in the beggining of spring just barely as sometimes the fog would come early in the morning and be quite cold.

Maeve looked around, and when she didn't immediately see whom spoke, she peeked her head around the bookshelf. Her pale blue eyes settled on the young woman at the front of the store. A radiant smile lit up her face, as she gave the other woman a small wave. "Uh, no thanks! I'm just looking." Her eyes slid to the window behind the store clerk, as a man stopped before the store and looked around.

Maeve caught a glimpse of the man's oddly pale face, and ducked back behind the shelf. Please, oh please, don't let him come into the store! She pleaded, looking around frantically. Her eyes were drawn to a nearby table where a man sat staring into his laptop. The computer had begun to shake, and jerked across the table a few inches in her direction. There was a creaking noise suddenly coming from the ceiling, and Maeve raised her eyes to the hanging lights that now reached for her instead of hanging straight down like they were suppose to.

Not now! She squeezed her pale eyes shut, and tried to calm herself. She could hear the man shuffling in his seat as he ask what was going on. One eye peeked open, and luckily the man had no interest in her, but was staring at his laptop like it was possessed. She looked back up, and the lights were back to normal. Maeve nearly sighed with relief, until she heard the door's bell jingle as someone entered the door.

OOC: The man is Toad, but he's in disguise. ^^

Ana turned and smiled "Guten Morgen, sir" Ana spoke in a bit of a habit then saw that she's seen the man before but didn't know where. Ana blinked and saw the girl's expression then back at the odd man whom had walked into the shop. Seeing that the girl didn't want the man near her, she quickly added a smile to her face as she moved over to him. "What is it that you are looking for, maybe I can help?" Ana spoke cheerfully blocking the way of the woman from his view. Ana had been involved with many creeps and got rid of them each time too no matter if there was violence or not.

Toad frowned at the young girl that stood before him. He thought that he had caught a glimpse of the woman inside, but wasn't sure. "Uh, yes. I thought I saw my friend come in here." He responded, peering around the clerk. "Maybe you've seen her? She's about 5'8'', dark hair, curvy, wearing a business suit?" He asked, looking back at the girl.

Maeve strained to hear the man as she moved further towards the back of the store.

Ana smiled blocking his way again "I'm sorry, we haven't seen anyone in a business suit all day. Now if you arn't going to buy something then you'll have to leave sir and don't just pick random things off the shelves. Books are meant to be read not used" She smiled keeping her act up, though, it wasn't hard since she was used to it. She watched the man as he looked for the woman but no idea if she was there.

A frown crossed his face once more, but he decided not to press the matter. Besides, he knew where she lived and the woman would have to come home sooner or later. He turned and left the store without responding to the clerk.

Maeve heard the jingle of the bell again, and risked a glance towards the door. She caught sight of his back as he exited the book store. Her pale eyes slid to the store clerk. She must have run him off.. Figuring that she was safe for now, Maeve slowly walked back up to the front of the store. "Oh, thanks!" She said, coming up behind the girl. "I think that creep has been following me for a few days now.."

"How come?" Ana asked turning around with a less creepy and more of an innocent curious smile than before. 'Wonder who she is to be having a creep like him follow her for a few days, must play the nice person now' she thougth to herself.[/COLOR]

Maeve merely gave a shrug in response. "I really have no idea." She answered, and she really didn't. She was, however, begining to think that it had something to do with.. well the odd things that were happening around her. She didn't yet know about the power she held within herself, or she didn't want to believe it. Mutants were all over the news, and the groups called the X-men and the Brotherhood held most of the media's attention.

Her pale eyes fell to the clerk's nametag, and she smiled. "Ana, huh? Do you usually spend your days saving damsel's from stalkers?" She teased.

Ana smiled after awhile when she heard what the woman had spoken lastly and said "Only the nice ones" she teased back and then spoke "You now know my name, what is yours? Oh one moment, Hey! Kris I'm off now, you're turn!" she yelled back throwing her apron at a guy reading a book and he frowned not wanting to close his book just yet. Ana worked alot and got enough time off. "Well I'm heading to get something to eat, would you care to join me...?" she didn't know the young woman's name and was far too curious about it though she just stood there with a small smile on her face.

"Oh, uhm.." She watched the exchange between the two employees. "Actually, yeah. That sounds great, and my name is Maeve. It's nice to meet you." She said with a smile. "Did you have someplace in mind?"

"There's a good cafe across the street, I'll treat" she smiled pulling her new friend out of the door only to run into the other man from before again "Don't you know how to take a hint" she spoke annoyed slightly.

Maeve had been smiling as she was tugged from the store, until they suddenly ran into him again. He gave the women an oily grin, and immediately grabbed Maeve by the arm. "I knew you were lying." He accused, looking down at Ana. His other hand went to his earpiece as he spoke again. "I've got her."

Maeve tried to pull her arm from his grasp, but couldn't. "Who the hell do you think you are? Let me go!" She demanded, as he roughly tugged her away from Ana. She stumbled forwards, nearly slipping in her heels; still struggling with the man. If she had known she was going to be attacked today, she wouldn't have worn stilletos.

"Hey, a** let go of my friend" Ana yelled hating her friends getting bothered or picked on or anything as the storm clouds moved in and lighting came down from the sky striking him where he stood after Ana pulled Maeve away and covered her so she wouldn't go blind. Ana had seen lighting plenty of times before and it never seemed to have bothered her. The other civilains moved in to get Ana and Maeve away. Most of them knew Ana was a mutant but also liked her since she was not the power type.

A startled gasp excaped Maeve's red lips as lightning seared dangerously close. After the light died down, Maeve peeked her eyes open to find herself shielded behind Ana. She peeked around the other woman and saw the man slowly getting up from the ground, now several feet from the pair. The fake skin was peeling from his face, revealing his own green tinged skin beneath. Eyes wide, Maeve grabbed Ana's arm and tugged on her. "Come, on! Let's get out of here!" She exclaimed, pulling the girl down the street with her.

Toad was slowly getting up, a snarl on his lips as his hand went to his face. There was static in his ear, but he knew that the others were already on their way. Too bad he couldn't warn them that their query was in the company of another mutant.

The humans quickly hid Ana and Maeve away off to the side in some children's preschool for young mutants. "Okay Maeve I need you to do me a favor" Ana spoke and looked to Maeve as the women and some men put a blonde wig on Maeve correctly and throwing a long dress over her outfit with a shall adding a book to her hands to make it look as though she was a teacher.
