Odette sighed as her and her father rode her horse towards prince Derricks palace. She could not stand prince Derick. Ever since she was five years old they had been forced to meet and spend time together and she was sick of it. She remembered one year he had teased her for being a girl and threw a tomato at her hitting her in the face with it. She just wanted to kill him. Every summer she had to endure this torture. She would rather do anything but this. From June until September every summer she had to spend time with her intended. She guessed Derrick hated it just as much. She could not promise it but she was pretty sure. He was so childish and immature. That is what really bothered her.

She walked into the house giving prince Derricks mother a small curtsey. Throughout all of this time she did not mind Derricks mother. She was always sweet and kind to her. Pouting as her father pushed her into the ballroom, she saw the door slam closed. She turned and faced the door knowing full well who was in this room with her.

Rothbart looked out his large window down at the lake he had by his castle and thought of his plan that he had been going through his mind for years now."Scarlett!" He called, glancing away from the globe to watch his beautiful servant walk in. "Darling I have a job for you..." He said with a small grin, his blue eyes looking her over. "I need you to go and spy on Prince Derek and the lovely Odette".

"And why would I do that?" She asked, glaring at Bart as he came to her and put his hands on her waist. He kissed her gently on the lips and pulled her into a hug. "This changes nothing, I still refuse to help you take that poor girl." She said, looking away from him only to have her chin grabbed and turned back to look at him. "Stop! Your hurting me." She said in a slightly upset tone.

Bart smirked. "Look at me when I speak to you darling..remember I own you." He said with an evil grin. "When I say run.. you say?"

"How far." She said in a dull tone, frowning. "But Bart you promise me all the time that you'll give me my freedom if I help you and yet i'm still here." She mumbled, looking to her feet.

"That's because I can never give up someone as beautiful as you.. but I promise that once I marry Odette you will be able to leave this place despite that you have no one to run to after I killed your husband Anthony." He said, smirking and turning from her. "I need you to help me succeed in this, for you will be the one to trick Derek when I tell you too. If you cannot spy then send one of the animals.." He growled. "No get out of my sight!"

Scarlett nodded and left Bart where he stood. She was wearing a dark blue dress that had thin straps and a V at the chest. Her long black hair stopped at her lower back and laid wavy behind her shoulders as she walked down the hall. Bart always liked having a girl to look at so she was forced to wear a tight dress to show off all her curves. She sighed and went down the stone cold steps in her flat black ballet like shoes and went outside a large opening in the abandoned castles wall and to the lake. "My dear Raven, please come to me." She called, putting out her arm and watching as a raven landed on her arm. "Now you go and spy on Prince Derek and Odette and then come back to me and repeat everything they say to me." She said, kissing the ravens feathers on the top of its head and then watching as the bird flew away towards Derek's kingdom.
(Oh and sorry if I spell Derek funny but thats how they spell it in the movie I saw > . < )

Derick couldn't help but groan at the idea of having to see Princess Odette yet again. Ever since he was younger he had been forced to put up with the girl every summer, having to deal with her presence for three long and excruciating months. It had only gotten slightly better when his best friend Bromley fell into the picture and helped him through his suffering, assisting in the teasing of the girl. In fact he once recalled a time in which he and the other male youth had been in a tree house and wouldn't allow her to enter, claiming it was a 'No Girl's Allowed' zone. This hadn't quite gone over well with her apparently as it ended with all three of them bandaged up with each earning a cast in various places. He had figured that if he continued treating her as such that his mother and her father would finally realize that this was never going to work. There was no way in hell he was going to fall in love with such an ugly duckling, and he was sure that he could do much better than her anyways.

Growling as he was shoved into the ballroom and kept his back turned towards the door that he knew the Princess would eventually be coming through. He let out a quiet groaning sigh as he heard the far door being slammed shut, signifying that Odette had arrived and was now in the same room as him. "Why won't mother realize I have no intention of marrying such a-" he started mumbling to himself, though found himself suddenly silenced when he turned to face the girl at the other end of the room. There was no way in hell that, that was Princess Odette. The girl he stared at now was more like a swan then the ugly duckling he had been so accustomed to seeing.

Turning to face the other direction Odette looked at Derrick and frowned. When did he become so handsome looking. The last time she saw him he was so mean and childish still. How could he have changed so much in a year. She walked towards him stopping in the middle of the room and gave a curtsey. "I am most happy to be here prince Derrick." She kept her head low for a five second amount of time and then came back up and extended her hand.

Culture in this time period was rather strict on proper etiquette. She was required to extend her hand to be kissed and make a curtsy in greeting. Her father she could see was with Derricks mother in the doorway watching them. Maybe they should get married if that made life easier. On the other hand.......her gaze fell upon prince Derrick. He was so handsome now perhaps his personality had also changed to become more than he was.

Derick was somewhat speechless as the girl who could only be Odette approached. "It is a pleasure that you were able to come Princess" he replied as he bowed when she curtsied. As she extended her hand, the blond haired prince gently took it into his and placed a light kiss on it. At the moment most of his attention was directed on Odette rather than the two watching parents.

In the past he would have gagged or at least quickly rubbed his mouth after kissing her hand, but this time around nothing of the sort occurred. The thoughts of him doing better seemed to vanish from his mind as he gazed longer at the princess. She certainly had grown into a rather lovely young lady that had been far from his expectations. Perhaps he could do a marriage with Odette after all, and the more he thought about it the more he realized he wasn't as appalled by the idea as he had been when he was a kid. Now of course it was a matter if the Princess was willing to cooperate now too.

The raven that Scarlett sent sat on a tree by the window and watched them, remembering each word they said to each other so he could tell Scarlett later. The Raven chirped quietly so they would think nothing of it and watched the interaction between the two. Bart would be pleased at this since the next step involved taking Odette and using Scarlett to help in the plan.

Odette smiled at prince Derrick. She blushed a bit and looked at him. "You seem different than I remember." Last time she had seen him he had been such a spoiled brat and now he was totally different. It was so strange to her. She smiled and gave him a hug. "You have definitly grown to be handsome that is for sure." She could not take her eyes off of his face as she stood there hugging him. It was like the entire world was gone and all that existed was her and Derrick. She did not even notice the bird chirping outside.

Derick quietly chuckled at her words. "And you seem rather different yourself" he said gently smiling at her. The last time he had seen her she was spoiled, flirtatious and way too clingy, not to mention that her features had been far from mature as they were now. Before he had only seen her as the girlishly prissy princess that always came over during the summer time. Now however she was almost like a completely different person. Beautiful, polite and charming, the way he had always the imagined the princess he wanted to marry would be. "And you have grown into such a beautiful flower yourself" he responded as a hand almost hesitantly stroked a cheek, almost testing to ensure the vision before him was neither a dream nor hallucination. Vaguely he registered the chirping of a bird, however what kind didn't really seem to matter much to him, after all there were plenty of birds in the kingdom.

Odette hugged him tightly to her. She wanted to hold on to him for fear that this fantasy would disappear and leave her alone. She was worried that he would just leave. She did not want this to end. "What do you see about me that has changed?" All he had mentioned was her appearance. What else was different about her that he liked? There had to be more than just what she looked like. Even she could tell his personality was different. He was no longer childish and acted like a man in the way he walked and talked.

Derick was a bit surprised by the tightness of the hug that Odette was currently bestowing on him, although he couldn't really blame her. In fact he didn't really mind it, after all for him it was proof that this was no dream or illusion as her arms seemed like an anchor to prove that this was reality. Gently a hand began stroking her hair though paused slightly at her question. What else did he see about her that had changed? They had only been in the presence of one another for a rather short period of time for being a year since they last saw one another. She was beautiful yes, and there was something else that seemed...different about her that was pleasing, however forming what it was into words was rather...difficult. "I...can't put it into words" he admitted in a whispered tone. He knew well that his answer was fairly close to an 'I don't know' but it was about the only thing his mind could come up with at the moment.

She stepped back staring at him. "What do you mean? There must be something Derrick. I have noticed you walk and talk more maturly. You have a better attitude. How can you see nothing else but my apperance?" She frowned furrowing her brow. The king and queen were in the room and looked like they were going to die of shame. She continued to stare at him a moment and then turned back to her father. "Perhaps until he can think of an answer I should go home. Maybe once he comes up with it this relationship can progress further." She turned and walked out of the room with a near run.

King William stared at Derrick with a frown and then turned to Uberta. "I do not know what to say. I suppose we shall leave for now." He turned to start gathering their items.

The raven flew back and spoke everything to Scarlett. Scarlett then told Bart who then gave her a list of things to do.. which they argued about for another ten minutes. Then after Bart's many pleas Scarlett said yes. Bart had turned into a beast, dragon like creature and flew towards Derek's castle. He hid in the woods and waited for Odette's carriage to come by.

Scarlett sighed and watched Bart fly away. She then went to get everything needed for his plan. She went to the lake and made the area a nice habitat for a swan, making sure to have all the crocodiles move to a small pond on the other side of the castle. Scarlett was always in charge of the animals thanks to her ability to speak with them. Scarlett was nineteen years old and had been stuck with Bart for three years. He was 27 and wanted everything in life that wasn't his. One of those was Williams castle and daughter.

Derick was slightly speechless. It wasn't that he had said that there wasn't something else, rather he couldn't form it into words. To him the princess's was everything he had ever wanted, and there was certainly something beyond looks though again it was something he couldn't quite form into words. Rather it was something deeper than just the appearance and movements, even her speech. It was something that was a bit more of a feeling that he couldn't quite find the words to use to describe it, if there were even words to describe it fully. Closing his eyes and turning his head slightly away, he knew that at the moment there wasn't really much he could now saw to Odette to get her to stay, at least not yet.

Uberta was clearly devastated by the decision. All those years they had spent planning had seemed like they were going to work, and now it all came crumbling to the ground. With a tearful sigh she slowly began to help William gather up what items had been unloaded.

Once things were pack both Derick and his mother stood at the gate, Derick turned away from the princess that had all he ever wanted, while his mother held tears in her eyes.

Odette quickly climbed into the carriage with her father. THey had packed in silence and headed out to the carriage quickly. She stopped while climbing in and smiled at Uberta. "Goodbye your highness. I wish you luck." She let her eyes stray to Derrick. "Goodbye prince Derrick." She then finished climbing in and the carriage started to move. Storm clouds moved in causing the atmosphere to feel heavy on them.

Her father looked at her sadly. "Baby What did you want from him?" She looked at her dad and sighed. "I just want to see that he truly loves me and does not only care what I look like. I have never changed. Why should he like me now that my body has filled in when he hated me before. I had a crush on him since I was sixteen and yet even then he hated me. I just do not understand it daddy." They made the rest of the trip in silence. As they neared an area deep in the woods the horses refused to move any further. They acted skittish. ALmost like the path was being blocked.

William looked out of the carriage motioning for Odette to stay put. He looked around curiously. "Hello. Is someone there?"

The beast charged from the forest and knocked the carriage on its side. It destroyed the horses, ripping them to shreds along with the carriage driver. He grabbed William by his shirt. "My father told you one day he would take everyone and everything you've ever loved.. and you didn't believe him. So now i'm here to prove it to you." He growled, slicing his sharp dragon like nail across his chest to wound him. He then grabbed Odette and flew her back to his kingdom, dropping her on the ground next to Scarlett by the small pond.

He turned into his human form and stood in front of her in a black suit. "I'm sorry for being so cruel to you Odette.. but i've been working on this for awhile." He whispered, going to her and whispering a few words as he ran his hand across the side of her face. "Now every day you will be a swan like your beauty. And in order to turn human you must be on the pond every night and let the moonlight hit your wings. And if Derek pronounces his love to you and shows the world then you will turn back into a human forever. But... if he says it to another, you will die." He chuckled. "You will love me someday my dear Odette, and when you do we will marry and I will take your beautiful kingdom." He said, turning and leaving. "If you leave the pond you will turn into a swan at sunrise where you are, and then you can never be human again." He said, making his way into the abandoned kingdom he took over.
He would be back for Odette in a few minutes to ask her to marry him. If she said no then he would simply take what he wanted from her and then go to sleep. He had left Scarlett to comfort and tell the girl what was happening.

Scarlett stared at Odette and frowned a little. "You poor thing." She said softly. "Bart will return to you in a few minutes.. do you have any questions for me while you wait?" She asked, her emerald eyes looking at the large pond. She had a bad feeling about how Bart had talked of Derek pledging his love to another. Maybe thats where he wanted Scarlett to come in.. but she would refuse. Derek and Odette had the same type of love that she and Anthony had before he was killed. How could she break that?

As Odette said her goodbye first to Uberta and then to her son she quickly elbowed him and gestured with her head towards her. The Prince glanced over at Odette for a moment before turning away. "Goodbye Princess" he said through his teeth slightly. He still couldn't believe that the ideal wife for him was now leaving, claiming that the relationship would only step forward once he described what else it was that was different about her.

Quietly his mother turned after shouting about all the plans that they had made were now nothing but a waste, before walking with her son back towards the castle. "How could you not say anything else about her?" the queen scolded at her son as they began to reenter the castle.

Derick continued to look away at his mother's scolding tone. "As I said it was difficult to put into words. I'm not even sure there are words there that can describe it. It's more of a feeling that doesn't quite have a name. Something more than her appearance is different I just...can't describe it" the prince replied with a sigh. He knew that he probably could have thought of something, a lie perhaps. Then again he didn't wish for his marriage to be based on a lie. Rather he wished to find some way to convey his thoughts completely...at least once he could find some way to describe it.

Screaming as the carriage tipped over Odette climbed out of it. She looked around in terror as she watched the monster kill the horses and the driver and then attack her dad. She leaned over him to try and help him when she was grabbed and whisked away into the sky. She cried for her dad as she was carried into a garden of sorts. Then the monster changed forms and told her about a curse. She turned to the girl as the man left and stared at her.

"No." She turned and headed away from the girl and the pond. As she ran she could feel tears falling down her face. She ran full on into a wall and looked at it with a frown. How would she leave if she was blocked in like this? She turned and walked back. The girl was still there and she frowned at her. "I want to leave. Please you have to help me leave." She felt like she would die. Her darling Derrick she had left him with such cruel words. She cried in pain and sorrow falling onto the ground. What could she do?

King william frowned as he watched everything. Just as he reached up to stroke his daughters face she was carried away. He screamed for her but to no avail. He looked around him. He stood up and began the long walk back to Derricks kingdom. they would help him he was sure. His chest hurt so bad. After what seemed like hours he made it to the palace and climbed up the steps opening the door and falling on his face. "Please.....Help." He wheezed out before fainting from the pain.

"I'm afraid I cannot help you.. Bart has me under a spell as well.. though mine is that if I leave this kingdom without Barts permission I will turn into an angel fish.." She sighed, her eyes looking at the girl. "And in order to get you out i'd have to leave.. and if I did I'd die of having no water. But I promise you that if Bart ever lets me out I will help you. " She said softly, looking to the girl. "For from what I have heard you have such a great love for Derek as I once did for my Anthony." She whispered, putting her hand on her chest where her heart should be.

"You see.. Bart collects young women that our heirs to the throne to control their kingdom. This abandoned kingdom we are now at was once mine.. or my mothers, but he killed her and then took me as his pretty little servant. Within weeks he killed my entire kingdom for disobeying him and then the kingdom slowly began to look like this. It was once so beautiful and full of life.. " She frowned. "He forced me to marry him so he could gain the rights to my kingdom and then divorced me once everyone died or escaped."

"How horrible." Odette said getting up and looking at the pretty young girl. "If all he wants is my kingdom then he can have it. All I want is to go back to my Derrick. He is my soul mate and the one I love. I have to find a way back to him." She frowned looking at the moon on the lake. It looked as if it would disappear soon. She frowned wondering if the curse was real. She supposed it was if it was real on this other girl.

"I am Odette." She said turning back to the girl. "It is nice to meet you. At least I will not be alone in my misery."

A few moments before the castle doors had burst open and King William entered pleading for help before passing out, Derick had resigned to looking over a rather important looking document that dealt with his future. It was perhaps luck or fate that had him passing near the doors of the entrance room when the wounded king entered. At the sight of King William and his plea the Prince quickly discarded the document and went to his side. Glancing over him quickly he noticed that he was wounded and quickly shouted for any nearby servants to go and get medical help. "And hurry!" the Prince added before turning his attention back on the King. "King William wake up. What happened? What attacked you?...Where is Odette?" he asked, lightly shaking the King in an attempt to wake him up without causing further damage.

After a few moments his mother had heard the shouting and bustling about, causing her to come out of her chambers and investigate. She gasped as she saw the condition he was in and quickly went to her son's side. "What happened to him?" she asked quickly glancing at her son. She frowned however as he shook his head as a sign he didn't know.
