In LA, a brother and sister struggle to survive on the streets. When they were little, their parent's had been murdered in cold blood in front of them. They weren't harm cause they were too little to remember anything. Now the little sister and older brother try to take care of each other as they wonder around avoiding danger at every turn.

Age: 7
Bio: Shakura is the younger sister. She is easily frightened and is scared of every little scary noise. She loves her older brother and will be by his side no matter what. When she is scared only her brother can calm her.

Name: Ichigo
Age: 10
Bio: Ichigo had to watch his parents get killed in front of him, leaving him and his sister alone in the world, he does his best to protect her and help her while dealing with the effects of having to watch them get killed, that experience made him depressed and untrusting.

Shakura held onto his brothers hand as they walked down the sidewalk. Their clothes were filthy and so were they. " ichigo...i am hungry" she she said qiuetly.

He looked down at her and nodded. "I know, hey maybe we can find some food at one of the stores to steal if we have to, but also we do have a few coins left from when we got a little money from that older couple." he said. This was always the case, they were constantly searching for food. He didn't let it show when Shakura was up but it stressed him out and along with how he still felt about thier parents death he would sometimes cut himself on the arm and make sure it's covered, he'd keep the lpace as clean as possible.

"ok," she said quietly. she hadn't talked much since the death of their parents. She silently followed beside him. It was getting close to winter so they would be very cold given that they had no warm clothes. She let out a little sneeze and rubbed her nose.

He looked down and saw that she was getting sick, he needed to find them warmer clothes too, or else they wouldn't have a chance of surviving the winter. He worried that they wouldn't last much longer anyway, he wished that someone would take them in and help them, he'd be forever grateful to those people. But he didn't foresee that happening. He found a shop that was empty of people but had good looking pastries, and he knew this shop to be owned by a man that would help those in need of food. He walked in the store with his sister and the man walked out. "Oh it's you guys, I'm guessing you guys haven't had any luck?' he asked and Ichigo nodded. The man grabbed a couple of donuts for them and set them on plates and put them down on a table. They had been here a cuple of times before and this guy was always happy to see them and help them anyway he could, he'd experienced what they are going through so he wished the best for them.

"thank you," shakura said quietly and climbed into the chair and took a bit of donut.

"Thank you." Ichigo said. He got up into the chair next to his sister and took a bite, he too was hungry but hid it well. The man smiled. "Your very welcome, It really sucks that nobody has brought you guys in yet, you two are very fine young children and need to be loved." he said. "Oh that reminds me, I was looking through my closet and found a couple of coats that will fit you guys better than they would me, they might still be a little big on you, but they are winter coats." he said. Icigo smiled. "Thank you so very much sir." he said gratefully. "How is business going for you he asked the man. "Great, I get more and more customers everyday." he answered.

"yeah thank you sir and that is good. i can see why the food is good," shakura said and took another bit of donut.

Ichigo nodded in agreement and took another bite. "Well, I'll leave you two to eat and talk, I'll get you guys those coats." he said and with that he walked off to get them.

"he is really nice to do this for us," she said finishing a donut. She covered her nose when she sneezed again.

"Yes he is." Ichigo agreed. He finished his donut. "And it is especailly nice for him to give us coats." he said. He noticed that she sneezed and worried that she might be getting sick.

Shakura saw him looking worridly at her. "i'm fine buba," she said.

"Your getting sick." he said knowing that she was. "We're lucky that he;s giving us coats we wouldn't make it this winter if we have to without them. PLease don't hide anything from me."

"but i'm fine really," she said. she hated it when her brother worried about her. "Yeah the coats will make us warmer," she said. She played with the crumbs on her plate.

A woman with firey red hair walked into the shop. She stood infront of the counter to wait for the man to return so she could place an order. She noticed the two kids and gave them a light smile. "Hello. Whats your names?" she asked them.

The man came down and seeing he had a customer placed the coats on a chair behind th counter and went to take her order with a kind smile.

"I'm ichigo." Ichigo said shyly. And this is Shakura, my sister." he knew that she was also very shy to talk to anybody to say the least. He knew that she hated it when he worried but he couln't help it, he wouldn't lose her as well.

"i'll take two puff pastreys and one donut," she siad with a smile to him.

He punched that in and told her the price then got her pastries after she paid and he gave her her change.

"thank you," she said then looked over to the little kids. She knew that he got alot of little homeless kids in his shop. "Do you guys have any parents?" she asked.

Ichigo hid his feelings on the question. "No, they were killed by a murderer." he said not showing how that made him feel, she was just asking but the question was a difficult one. The shop owner heard and felt bad for the kids, he knew that the boy was hiding his hatred for the killer and his pain for the lose, he could tell, he had that way of telling how people were feeling.

"oh i'm sorry i didn't meant to pry. how about you guys come home with me and we can get you cleaned up" she asked.

"It's okay, you didn't know." he said in a friendly voice. He heard what she said and smiled happily, he looked to his sister to see how she felt about it. The shop owner handed them the coats that were closest to their sizes. "These will help in any case as you choose." he said. "Thank you sir, your kindness is very welcoming." Ichigo said. "I would like that but I will do what my sister wants to do." Ichigo answered the woman. She seemed very nice, and like she wouldn't treat them badly.

"i don't mind," shakura said quietly.

Ichigo stood up to try the coat on and found that it was only a little too big but it was warm. This would help for when they went outside. "Okay, we'd be happy to come with you." he said.

"ok come on then," she said with a smile. Shakura put her jacket on and held her brother's hand and followed.
