The soft melody of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata filled the still and quiet air as Ruxandra's long, pale fingers danced gracefully across the smooth, ivory keys of the grand piano, a gift that was perhaps her most treasured possession. Flickering candles placed around the cavernous room illuminated her pale, heart-shaped face while her icy-blue eyes were closed, so immersed in the song was she. It was almost ironic, really, that Ruxandra would choose to play this, her favorite song, in such a perfect setting- a dark, gloomy castle filled with impossibly beautiful vampires.

Ruxandra's moment of peace was broken, however, when an all too familiar scent pierced through the air. The warm, enticing smell broke her concentration and she missed a note in the otherwise perfectly played piece. Ruxandra's hands stopped and went limp on the cold piano keys as she identified the smell. Ah. Human blood. No doubt it had come from the few villagers that were still stupid enough to continue living in the small town that stood under the shadow of the large mansion that was the vampire's home. Those few humans were so weak and underfed that their blood tasted little better than water- well, to Ruxandra anyways. No matter how bad the blood was, though, the smell was always mouth-watering and Ruxandra inhaled the heavy scent appreciatively.

She found herself getting out of the black leather piano chair to the large, oak door of the room, captured by the delicious smell of blood, before Ruxandra stopped herself. Did she really want to drink some of that wonderful smelling yet thin and weak blood? Ruxandra shook her head to herself. She had more class than that and besides, she could wait for a better- no matter how slim the chances were- opportunity. Besides, by now all those bloody-crazy vamps have probably drained every human down to the last drop. She thought to herself.

Ruxandra took a strand of her luxuriously curled chestnut hair and inhaled the lavender and rose scent to distract herself than made her way back to the piano seat. Once again, she started to play from the beginning of the sonata, immersing herself back into the wonderful music while outside, the dark clouds started to sprinkle down the first light tuffs of snow.
