Winter was just bringing a second cookie to her lips when she heard Spring fly down the stairs yelling that she'd get the door. Curious as to how the younger season's interaction with humans might be, Winter silently slid her window open just a crack to peer furtively down at the couple in the doorway. Apparently the boy whom Spring had opened the door for was one of their neighbors. Which one, Spring didn't have a clue but it didn't really matter to her either way. She listened as Spring cordially accepted the boy's greeting with distaste. When did her younger sister get so charming?
Winter was just thinking about pulling back from the window when Nathaniel spoke again. Apparently he was offering them an apple pie as a welcoming present and was asking to come inside to serve it. Winter's brow furrowed and she hastily stood, nearly banging her head on the window and rushed downstairs. Summer was still standing near the kitchen doorway, some head of household he was! What if that pie was poisoned! He should be looking out for the well being of his family!
Disgruntled, Winter snuck through the dining room and tugged at Spring's sleeve from where she couldn't be seen and whispered in her ear, "What are you doing! Don't let him in here!" Winter practically hissed, "Look at you, you're not even dressed, how unladylike, you can't let a man in here!" And then nearly as an afterthought she added, "Who eats apple pie for breakfast anyway?"
