ARTIST COMMENTARY: Sorry for the hiatus. Haven't had much time to scan my art in since i've been bombarded with midterms. Anyways in class we're studying still life and working our way up to bigger and better things so i'll probably be posting a lot of my home/classwork here. Feel free to critic.

Looks pretty good!
I'm loving the designs around her eyes, and details such as the skull earrings and the butterfly, they all make it more interesting!
However, there are some minor things that look a little off in the drawing; her ears are a tad too small; remember their distance (of how big they should be) should be from her eyebrows to the tip of her nose. Also, her eyes seem a little too separated.
Other than that, it is lovely really, hope to see more of your work!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I always thought that the ears were from the eye to nose, actually part of the bottom half of the ears are covered by the earrings, but i can see that the ears do look a bit off. thanks for pointing that out ^_^ and maybe i'll see if i could post more of my art here. ;)

angelic eruru 08-16-2009 04:39 PM

i think its wonderful you are very good at drawing:angel:

muffin_bish 08-16-2009 05:11 PM

that looks awesome better than i can draw human faces/ animated....im only into anime....ive tried drawing real people and it didnt turn out good so ive stopped and now i just draw anime ;-;

iSteve 08-16-2009 06:06 PM

it's pretty good!
the bridge of the nose is a little wide, and the base is a little flat, and could use more detail.
but other than that the picture looks great :]

GoCloud! 08-16-2009 11:27 PM

It's a very good drawing actually. The bridge of the nose is too wide, but other then that, I rather really like it. It's a very good drawing once again and you should definitely open an art shop if you're planning too. Very good once again, and Good Luck ^_^ !!

AyameRoll 08-17-2009 07:18 AM

Oh wow. I love this. I especially love what you did with the eyes. Very lovely drawing.

*stares in awe*

o3o

I've tried to do realism, but i think you already mastered it

*still stares in awe*

Azika 08-17-2009 08:28 PM

@angelic eruru - Thank you very much ^_^

@ muffin_bish - I know what your going through, I was the same way, but there are formulas to these things that make it easier. Realism can actually help you be better with anime since anime style is basically a stylized and more simplified version of realism.

@ iSteve - Thanks, yea I drew this before I was familiar with proportions of the face (guess work basically). I can see what you mean, the nose was bothering me when I had finished it (but i couldn't figure out why)

@ GoCloud! - Thank you. How do i open an art shop? (i don't know how to sell my art.... ^^;

@ AyameRoll - Thank you, i was inspired by exotic make up :)

@ Little Miss - Aw thanks, but in all honesty i have A LOT more to learn and i wish to get better and better. btw your avi is cute ^_^

iSteve 08-17-2009 08:38 PM

ahaha.
You've got some really good potential though!
keep working at it and show me some of your new stuff :]

Azika 08-17-2009 08:48 PM

well maybe i'll put up more stuff here, or should i start another more official thread?

iSteve 08-17-2009 09:36 PM

I'd just go from this one, and make it look official.
avoid starting too many threads :]

Azika 08-17-2009 09:41 PM

ok....one question, how do i change the name of the thread? (i'm a clueless newbie >.>)

iSteve 08-17-2009 09:44 PM

edit your first post, then click "go advanced"

Azika 08-17-2009 09:56 PM

thanks ^_^

Sally Sinema 08-18-2009 07:34 AM

Good job azika, I especially like the 3rd one down. Oh and i love the abarat books, the characters were fantastic.

Melody 08-18-2009 12:19 PM

They're really good. (:
The one thing I'm noticing is that your bottom eyelashes seem to go into the eye. If you study your eyes, theres a little bridge between them and the eye, unlike the top eye. They also bunch differently than top eyelashes. Bottom ones will be in groups of two or three per spot, while top eyelashes will be in a more linear order.
I don't know if that makes any sense...but I don't know how else to describe it. ^^;;

Azika 08-19-2009 12:26 AM

@ aoi midori - thanks, i love the abarat books, but i haven't gotten too read the third book in the series. Carrion is one of my favorite villains ^_^

@ Melody Xyelle - i think you mean that the bottom lashes are spread out more and are shorter in comparison to the upper lashes?

Melody 08-19-2009 01:50 PM

kinda? But there is also a space between the eye and the eye lid thats more noticeable in the bottom lashes then the top, and the space doesn't seem to be there in the drawings. But yes, they are spread out more than the top lashes. They're also spread differently.

Azika 08-19-2009 08:18 PM

you mean that thin pink space between your eye and your lashes?

Melody 08-20-2009 01:52 PM

yar. :3 xD
