New Dolls

I just spent hours on this new one. Zombie love! I'll link this one out for violent/gorey content.
Zombies!
"Riding" base by Sabi

This one is a "fan senshi" inspired by Sailor Moon. I made this one a few days ago.

Base by Star Girl

Me and my daughter Scarlett at the park.

Base by Mariii's Dolls House

The outfit in this one was inspired by something I saw on Lookbook. I can't remember who the user was though. I spent a decent amount of time on this one and am pretty happy with how it turned out.

ooohh pretty!!! I like them alot!!

PhantomLolita 08-28-2009 11:43 PM

Thanks! ^_^

fuyumi_saito 08-29-2009 01:50 AM

aww! so cute! I really love the second one. It's very cute looking, you did a good job designing the clothes and such. So much fun ^^

edit: one thing I noticed just now, is that you might want to add a bit shades to it, like lighter shades and such.

PhantomLolita 08-29-2009 06:28 AM

Thanks! I actually didn't want lighter shades in that one. Since they're clothes we own, it was more accurate without lighter shades. I get what you mean though.

Ostara 08-29-2009 04:19 PM

Whoah they are amazing. Especially I like the zombies. That feels like something new.

PhantomLolita 08-29-2009 06:18 PM

Thank you! ^_^ Zombies are my obsession.

chiiruchan 08-29-2009 11:02 PM

They look awesome! :D I really like the last one!

PhantomLolita 08-29-2009 11:19 PM

Thanks! I'm working on improving, so this practice is helping.

Meiku 08-30-2009 04:08 PM

It's really cute..
Try opening a shop C: """?

PhantomLolita 08-30-2009 06:05 PM

Haha...maybe at some point. I'm home all the time, but my daughter just started walking so I don't know how much time I'll have for dolls. We'll see how it goes. If I see anything requested in the art request section, I may do a few though.

PaintTheSkyRed 08-30-2009 06:07 PM

Wow. I lilke the zombie. <3

PhantomLolita 08-30-2009 06:18 PM

Thanks! I think I might do more zombies soon.

Looks naughty. XD

Character designs are fitting, though they could be a bit more dramatic since this is a seemingly dramatic piece. The boy's hair appears... odd.

The grass is well done, but the fence urks me. In such a chaotic setting, perhaps a very straight and orderly fence is not ideal.

All in all, wonderful picture. Felt like a complete art piece, not just a simple pixeling.

EDIT: Lulz, I was so absorbed on your zombie piece, I forgot the rest. XD

Your fan sensei is adorable, and the background really well done and incorporated. The color scheme is on key.

The hair I feel is a bit limp and lifeless, though the design suiting. The wings are also too muted.

I especially like the dither on the black.

The hearts in the background, the one hnaging from the frame, you should dither or something. They are too plain.

I feel as if your one of you and your daughter is a little iffy with the background, and your hair isn't as pixelated as the rest of the piece. I do like the attention to detail in this one though, and both of you are very cute.

The background itself is nice, but the color sceheme is off, and it appears as if you are in front of a screen, not in the park.

The lookbook one appears older to me. The background is very cute, and the design nice, but the skirt is awkward at the right end, and the bangs of the girl are a little too straight.

Great job on all your stuff!

The fence was actually just rushed and I'll more than likely spend more time on it later. The same goes for his hair, it will probably be redone. That is basically just a rough draft. It was 6 in the morning and I just needed to get it "done". I'll probably redo the parts that bother me this week.

Yeah, the hair on that one has been bugging me too. I still have all of my dolls in layered psd's, so it will more than likely be fixed when I figure out what I want to do. I'm going to re-shape the top entirely. As for those hearts, I'll probably dither them one day. I'm considering removing them entirely though, since I don't know that they even really fit this piece.

I brushed the hair, but I like it better that way. It's just personal preference really. As for the background, it's unfinished. (seeing a pattern here yet? lol) I plan to change it up and add in a swingset or something like that. I was feeling lazy that day.

That one is newer. I was just experimenting with some things I don't do often. The skirt was really giving me trouble. It needs to be redone, I just can't quite figure out how to get it to look right. I attempted to find tutorials that explained the folds in that style of skirt, but couldn't find anything. As for the hair, another rush to finish because I was being lazy. This is yet another one that I need to redo. lol

Basically, I need to be less lazy and spend more time instead of rushing to finish.

. Ha, I know how you feel. Sometimes it's best to just get a draft done then letting it sit, it can make you go back and fix things. Or rush them (I do that, and never go back and fix them. D:)

. Aaah, layers. They are useful. Paint needs them. For really complicated dolls, I often draw in mspaint, then seperate it from the doll, and put it into photoshop. XD

. Brushing works well sometimes. I think a swingset would really tie the piece together, especially since you are with your daughter.

. I'm not sure what the skirt is called, but it definitely wears different from other skirts. They are also hard to draw. I did like the doll though. It's important to try new things, and finish them, you learn more.

PhantomLolita 08-31-2009 03:21 AM

Haha yeah...I need to go back and redo a few of them. I'll probably do it soon.

As for layers and paint...here's what I do. (this doll is old and the red is for when I move it to photoshop)

Here's the finished doll.

Oooh neat. I like the mixmath and the hairstyle.

PhantomLolita 08-31-2009 03:36 AM

Thanks! Yeah, I feel that using that method is kinda like having layers.
