Input on my pixels ^^ [Added expressions]

I'd like a little input on my pixel guys I've been trying to sell. I'm hoping it's because today is Christmas and everyone is away spending time with their families, because I haven't gotten any business or comments. Either way I'd like a little honest criticism for the sake of improvement.

Here are my bases, which are what I'd really like judgment on.

Here are the eyes. I don't feel like I could do a whole lot to improve these.
I also have some markings and items that can be added for an additional fee.

Thanks for the suggestion, Skykittykat :D
I've made 8 expressions that can be used with any base/eye combo.

Hmm. Well heres a thought. If you add a few more expressions, not just with eyes but mouths too they may sale faster.

Whaif 12-26-2009 06:02 PM

Thanks ^^ I could easily do some little mouths.

SorrowsxEnd 12-26-2009 08:38 PM

those are so cute. I would buy one if I had the money.

Whaif 12-26-2009 09:59 PM

Thank you ^^ That's super encouraging.

They're certainly cute! And I love the expressions you've added, they do make the critters more appealing.

The convention in pixel art, I believe, is to use single-pixel outlines--since the drawings are so small, it makes them look a bit cleaner. I'd also suggest shading the markings to match the rest of the fur, rather than keeping them solid brown.

Demoncat 12-27-2009 01:58 PM

They look adorable! I love their little faces. :) For CC, I would maybe smooth the outline a bit, and maybe make a darker shadow ( meaning that the shadow looks too close to the normal color, if you give it some more shadow it will look cartoonish and cute, which would fit the creature nicely. :) )

But other than that they seem fine, I love the outline and the idea. :D

awwww thoes are super cute are you selling any?

Thank you, everyone, for the advice. I think I could certainly make those improvements in the future, and maybe I'll eventually renovate these. They took quite a while to make though, so it might take a while more for me to regain the patience needed to do more pixeling.

Holy crap...those are so cute. I would totally save and buy one if I didn't want to buy the event commons.

Whaif 12-31-2009 01:13 AM

Haha, thanks x] I want to buy some too.

tavis harts 12-31-2009 01:17 AM

Very nice. I love the expression options you added. It gives a lot of life to them.

Whaif 12-31-2009 01:37 AM

Thank you ^^ I guess they were looking a little... Weird.. Without any expression.

tavis harts 12-31-2009 01:40 AM

Well... They looked a little like my rabbit without any expression.

Hes cute but from time to time you can't help but wonder if hes actually thinking. The expressions help to give more character to each of them. Sort of a set personality. :3

Whaif 12-31-2009 09:19 PM

That's true, people like things that are more personified.
Rabbits are cute though <3 Most of the time they're probably not thinking anything at all x]

They're super cute! Maybe I'll buy one. :]

LVHAXOR 01-10-2010 01:44 AM

pretty cool

Huffie 01-15-2010 02:23 PM

Great work! They're sweet, I love their big curly tails. :D Your shading is really nice, too! Very smooth.

If you're feeling like making some little changes in the future though you could try out softening some parts of the outline on the inside to match the shading better? I don't want to say definitively that they need it in case you're not going for that look, but it's worth trying if you feel up to it. :) Also, you might like to tidy up the lines a bit (more like how you've done the eyes I mean), and perhaps tweak the shading colours you've used on the dark chocolate, blueberry and lemon drop bases? I just noticed the shading seems a tad less defined on those few, I think it's the way you've chosen your darker colours, it might help if you used more varied tones.

Of course, these are just amatuer observations, so you can disregard anything I just said if you think it sounds a bit iffy! ;)
