The BG used to be very visable and lovely. But then I was messing with it and I screwed it up >> It was fire ya know? But then I had to put in the elemental wings and it covered the fire of the bg. Too much fire in this pic it seems XD har And also, what do you think of the blood? I'm not going to be going back and changing anything, I just want to know what you guys think for the next time I ever draw a picture with blood in it.

Well, for start that is a very vividly coloured picture and I love the flames. But I think next time when you draw blood you should make it a lot darker and add sharper highlights to it. Now it looks a bit more like paint.

No, SAI can't burn OR dodge XD sometimes I wish it could though.
But yah, no. I used different colors and brush sizes.

i use SAI too ^^ its a lot more user friendly and not so mind boggling D: There ish dozens and dozens i mean thousands upon thousands of button on adobe that i don't know the purpose or what it does ^^;; its also a lot of expensive D:
$50 for SAI versus around $700 for adobe Photoshop CS4

I love how much nice rich color you use in this piece. I notice you have started doing some shading to add depth to this piece, and I bet if you can pump up the tones of highlights and shading you do in this piece it will make it even more intense looking.

Very well done, indeed!
You have a very nice way of making fire. Very distinct and unique.
The only thing that I can point out is the blood. As previously said, a darker color would give more depth and understanding, but the general idea has come across, and has been done marvelously.
Keep it up.

I actually did the shading backwards to what I had originally planned. So I kind of gave up on the highlights. XD

Okay so I know you're not going to go back to it but I'll say this anyway so you can use it for next time.

His arm on the right is too short: Elbows land at the waist, hands stop mid thigh
His arm on the left has no thumb: So maybe you wanted 4 fingers I don't know, but the way he's holding his hand out the thump should be sticking out away from his body.
His shoulder on the left: The cross on his shoulder should be more to the side, when you move an arm to that pose the shoulder is only visible from the side

The pants have no seems or indications of a fabric quality. Pants are really actually fun to draw, they have a lot of seems and fabric folds. Also there is little room for any kind of genitalia, men need a good deal more pant room then girls.

The blood: On the pants it works well because it's a blank slate of white to stain, but in hair it's a different story. His hair is brown so really you'd only see a thin layer of redish tint along with the hair looking wet. I use Sai paint tool too. Mess around with the opacity settings and such.

Keep these things in mind~! The fire looks nice, it's very stylized and a lovely shade of orange. :]

I think the fire and blood look weird to me, I couldn't tell if the blood was blood or something else, and the fire and smoke look odd with the stringiness, but I love the furre and his white wing<3

@Heihachi: Oh my, that's a very detailed report. Hopefully I get better at SAI because of you <3 If you have any pictures of people in large groups in one area, please share so I could do anatomy studies. If they're naked that's even better 8D

I started typing something out and accidentally closed the window! OTL Well, here it goes again. Hopefully I remember what I said.

My post will be mostly critique since it's more along the lines of how I usually comment on things.

The intense colors work really well in terms of portraying theme and mood. There's a sense of danger due to the heat. The flames aren't very tame-looking.

As for the things that bother me..I guess I'll go from top to bottom starting with the figure, then move on to the background if needed.

The horns have hardly any dimension. It's hard to tell if that's shading or blood on them, since it's a squibbly blotch of color. Either way, if it's blood OR shading, it needs to follow the division lines of the horns better because the way you have it now flattens it out. They also look like they almost don't belong on the head, and when I say this, I mean the one on our right in particular. There's no interaction with the hair as far as I can see. Adding a few strands of hair in front of them could help make it look like they're more inset as opposed to randomly sitting on top.

Now to the hair (and a partial commentary on the fur on the body). When blood touches fur or hair, it tends to look very dark, unless it's white hair, since white won't mess with the colors that much. right now it looks like there's red clots of something sitting on top of the hair. The hair needs to look more heavy and damp. You also need a bit more hair on our top left side of the head, because it's looking like his head got smashed in.

For the face, the eye doesn't stand out quite enough. Eyes are important for expression, so add a little more contrast on it's outline and maybe the color of the eye itself. There are so many intense colors that the eye isn't standing out enough. I'm not much of an anthropomorphism person but from what I see ,his jaw is too small, and too round. It's sort of feminine, but not in the pretty-boy sort of way. More than anything, he just starts looking like a girl. I'd make that a little more defined, and a little larger.

His chest could be a hint wider, and the same for his hips. The arm on our right is the same width all the way down. You need to slim down towards the elbow, and then slim more towards the wrist. The big wrist is not only unnatural, it makes the fingers on that hand look like sausages, too. The arm overall could be a little longer. The armored arm is to thin at the shoulder and biceps, and a little too thick at the wrist. The armor segments of the fingers aren't defined enough, so these too start looking too much like sausages. You also need a thumb, which someone mentioned earlier. The chest muscles are a little low, and the stomach isn't defined very well. I don't even see a navel there. The pelvis is as wide as the rib cage, so the hips are too small, and he has a high crotch line, too. That needs to be fixed because I'm pretty sure I'd be in pain if I was that guy. Or he's not well endowed >->; Crotch needs more folds, same for where the legs fold. The pants need to show creasing.

As for the fire..
The way fire works is that it's hottest points are at the center. The hotter fire is, the whiter the center is. From the center, it goes to orange, then yellow, then red, and the edges of the colors are very soft, practically blending into one another. While you have fire-y colors, that doesn't really make me think fire so much as "fiery ribbons". As for the blade, i think it needs to be the hottest thing, and then the flames coming up from it need to start looking a little less hot. Also, the way he's holding it makes it look like it should be more foreshortened.

Here's a good example of what digitally-painted fire could look like:
Tutorial

Hope that helps in any way o.e

@Platinum: ha XD the one person that says exactly what I've been thinking about the fire. I thank you mucho grande for the entire CC <3 It is extremely helpful so don't worry about that.
I know I really need to work on proportions and such, but after a while of working on lineart I go into the "I don't give a crap anymore, let's just finish this already" mode. That's actually the mood i'm in now. XD
And while most of the stuff (the basic main point stuff I didn't bother to skim over) you have said has been retained somewhere in my subconcious for me to use the next time I draw, I must be going off to do other things. Like get a drink of orange juice. Because there are no fanfics to read right now so the internet has lost its luster for tonight.
