Animal Avi Art? o: Critique?
Howdy!
Just a'wondering. Im thinking about selling little doodles of animal-style avi art. ^^ (also, this is my first set of purely on-comp art. o_O It was almost all done with the mouse, and my first tries, too! So, I dont mind some helpful tips. ^^ Also, all done in paint. c: ) Examples: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...gs/Cexlan2.png and http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ings/crii2.png What do you think? ^^ |
Well, for something mouse-drawn, these aren't that bad.
However, there's a lot you could do to improve them. First off, your lines. If you're going to do them completely by mouse, you need to get better at holding the mouse steady. This is a hard skill - curved lines with the mouse are horrid I know - but if you improve your lines you'll improve the over all quality of the piece. Secondly, your colors. Just adding one shade to the shadowed areas would make them look a lot better. And if you'd like, there is a free imaging program that I use called GIMP. It's free to download and install, so if you have your own computer, perhaps it would be a good idea. GIMP allows you to use tools like Layer so that you can color more easily. Just a suggestion though since I've seen people get really good in paint. If you're interested though, I can provide you to a link to GIMP. |
Thank you! I actually mentioned to Crii and she actually got me the link to gimp...now I just have to figure out how to actually...do stuff...with it. D:
And thank you for the shading and mouse tips. I'm trying, it'll get better. I've never really drawn with a mouse before, so for my first try I'm actually kinda happy they actually look like animals! XD Shading...shall be my bane. D: |
Shading does take some getting used to.
And GIMP isn't too unlike paint. Play around with it a little and you'll get the hang of it. ^^ |
How cute. :3 I don't believe I could draw something that well with a mouse. Good job!

Thank you both!
@Lady: I tried it over the weekend, and thing I may have this coloring thing down. :3 Shading too...just need to learn to keep my hand steady. @Mise: Thanks so much! ^^ I didn't think I could either. xD |
