Pencil Art
Soo, this is just a pencil drawing I did with a mechanical pencil.. I would colour it, but I don't have any decent programs & my skill with pencil crayons doesn't exactly exist. Anyways, I'm very aware of how completely terrible the leg sticking up in the air is.. especially the foot. I could go into a whole rant about my issues with that, but I won't. I'm pretty much asking you to pretend it isn't there. Anyways, I really enjoy drawing bodies that may be twisted or have their back bent to an unnatural point, so if you notice something like that.. it was intentional. I can see you tried very hard, and the work actually shows a lot of promise. :) Your anatomy is decent and composition is creative. This isn't the usual kind of work you see around here.
But I can't help but think there are a few things that are really off about this work and it isn't the leg. The leg is good, it's the foot and ankle that are off. The elbow is also floating over the long grass. I think it may be how flat the work is. You could try to use some shading not just on the water or the rocks. Speaking of shading, I think the mechanical pencil may have been the wrong kind of lead to use. It's really stiff and hard to blend, which is obvious in the water. Water is softer so I personally would have used lighter shading and a blending stump. It's nothing a little practice and experience can't cure. I think you're on your way and you are already really good! :D |
I really like it the foot in the air isn't that bad you can't really notice, also the mermaid is just awesome maybe if she had fairy wings it would be really cool(i'm a big fan of fairys but its only a suggestion).

You should keep it black and white. Inking it would be very awesome.
