I posted this on deviantART, but like most of you may know, not many people comment and critique well there.... So, I came to you guys, my fellow Menewshans!:heart:

This is a 16''x20'' oil painting I'm doing for Wings of Writing: (late birthday present...).
I am asking if anyone has something they think could be improved, particularly on Adam's face. As of now, the hair has only been blocked in, the clothes is non-existent, and it's all in one color because I'm trying the underpainting and glazing technique. Color will be added later. But it WILL be there eventually!

Anybody? I'd really like to hear from you guys, especially before I start working on it again!

Come on people, comment! I love this, but I think I may be slightly biased as it is a b-day present for me and I absolutely love Adam! So yeah, totally biased here.

it looks alright so far, I'm not sure what is just how his face is and what is off so .. what picture[s] are you referencing?
His nose seems to lack depth and upper lip seems pushed down really far [nose might not be long enough .. I guess I need to google him]

Yea, a reference pic might be necessary ^^;

Here's what I've been using:

okay so it's a lot of little subtle things that are vague and hard to explain so paint over
and I'll try to explain in a way that actually makes sense lol
you need to really look at his nose really closely and see all the shapes going on in there
his eyebrows are a little more structured with some "fraying" toward the ends
the shading under his chin needs to be lightened a tiny bit and his lips need to be lengthened so they reach towards the dimple and so it doesn't look like he's making too much of a duck face XD [the bottom lip especially, I didn't do that on the paint over because I saved before that and then saved with the bottom lip painted after I totally messed up his face lol the lips should be a tag lighter than they are now but I'm not sure if that has something to do with the fact that it's an underpainting or not .. idk how oils work.]
He is arching his eyebrow so the one on our left should arch more than the one on our right.

yus I'm one of those everything artists .. if I get tired of staring at a computer I paint on paper/canvas/cardboard and when I get bored I draw on anything I can find. [I have dozens of chinese watercolor books but I'm just never in the mood to actually try it but they're an interesting read. sculpting is fun too but I'm too poor right now] I just got a tumblr that I've promised myself I'm going to use more than my deviantart accounts and blogs lol

Yea, totally understand :) And I don't get offended by criticism, unless the critic is honestly just being a jerk.

I'm an art student, currently in my second year of college. Wanna get really really good at painting! Hope to be an actual artist someday, selling work and being in galleries and such.
