Care to Critique?
Have a look and tell me what you think of my current art, these are some of my more recent pieces that are done in watercolours.

the first one, The parrot: The face is well done and I like the quality and boldness of the feathers. However the feet look rushed and poorly planned during the sketching stage. If you got the fee to look more realistic then, as a whole the image would greatly improve.
Second one, the dudes: I like these the best. My own opinions aside, the guy in the hat could use some more depth, the profile is very strong and could use some shadows especially under the hat and the eyes. The green figure has some of the depth that I would like to see more of. the only thing I can suggest to make it stronger is that next time to measure out where features should go so not to make things look off, the eyes don't seem to be level with each other. Third, the abstract piece: I am not trained in, nor do I really care for abstract art. However the crown and the arms have the shading and depth that the first is missing. I would suggest that you make the chains look more realistic and less two dimensional. Otherwise I don't have much else to say... Hope I was helpful. |
Thanks very much!
I can see what you mean by them needing more depth, I'll try to improve on that. :D |
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help out.

Hello :]
I'm wondering, are you making a portfolio or is this just for fun? Are these just practice pieces or actual works? |
You have a very good sense of form and color.
I suggest you work on refining that sense of form via technical practice. I further suggest, judging from your third piece, to work on realistically drawing hands. Following's a short thing on drawing hands that I put together ages ago. I tailored a bit of it to fit your critique, so I hope it helps C; Cheers http://tinyurl.com/3saf9gl |
