Hello People~
I'm use to drawing pictures with pencil, pen, and sometimes sharpies.
Most of the time it's just a variety of all three all put together.
Anywho, my little brother downloaded a new program called GIMP.
It's a lot like a program I use to have while I was in middle school called Photobucket Adobe.
Needless to say I've been out of middle school for so long I completely forgot how to use half the tools.
So now, I'm trying to re learn them so I can make lots of pretty pics of my Avatar--
and other random Avatars I find fun to do~
Anywho I guess I'll start off by posting a picture of what I'm use to drawing on paper.

My Cartoony Nature--- Yes I love being Cartoon-ish, mostly because it makes me smile. :)

Another Cartoon-ish thing I call my special chibi---- Mostly because it's eyes are quite literally lines--- xD

Spent a good 2 days on this piece, shading, outlining, and making everything look satifactory to my standards. :)
~~~~~~
I will admit I haven't been completely clueless on how to do media art, seeing as how my computer has the default program Paint.
Needless to say-- my art stayed very simple like that---
Not much detail, and I made very poor attempts with shading....
~~~~~
Now on the most recent stuff~~~~
I could really use some feedback on this stuff, since I have no idea what I've done wrong, right, what should be improved, or what is the best parts.

First piece I ever tried doing, very rough....

My second shot, little neater, and found out I could smudge the colors together.

My Third Shot, I figured out I could smudge the dark lines~~~ <3

Latest creation~~ <3 I loves it--- but it needs tough love I can't give-- ;(
Judge it~~! Let me know what sucks about it~~~! xD

I use photoshop elements but gimp isn't too bad. You should try downloading different brushes and just practicing. A lot about being an artist is figuring out what looks right to you.
Also, try using layers. Does gimp have layers?

Yes Gimp has layers, part of the reason why I've been able to get more advanced than my simple paint works. :)
I'll see if I can figure out how to download more brushes, I suspect I might stick to the brushes I have, since i'm familiar with how my work turns out with them-- xD
Thanks for the compliment Kitty~~ ^-^
I'm hoping to keep improving though, because I want to make really pretty pictures~~

On the newer ones that you want feedback on .. I'd use a bigger brush to create thicker lines instead of using a small brush and scribbling it in to a thick line. Using darker shades of the colours you're outlining usually has a better look to it than just using black. You have a good start just don't get stuck in the rut of using black to shade because it's a bad habit and muddies up the picture. Using different colours to shade and highlight with makes the picture vibrant and interesting. What colours you use are up to you and what you're comfortable with but experimenting with colour is never a bad thing and just painting with black/white/grey is good for learning values. [like drawing a circle with a pencil and shading it to make a sphere]

btw it isn't photobucket adobe it's Adobe Photoshop

db8ann: you should experiment with new brushes though. Never stick with comfort! :D Not with art anyway. ^-^
