:tilts head at piccu: A little constructive crit if you don't mind Ellie? Your shading looks good as always, but I think you need a bit more contrast in it, you've still got a load of light zones but not so much the dark ones. There are a lot of colors in the same tonal range. =3

X3 Thank you very much for the critique and I know just what you're saying! I was trying to increase the contrast but the paints I was using were so... old that nothing was working D:!! </3

Her shoes have SO much black on them I thought I was going to warp the paper, but luckily it's nice paper and didn't buckle a bit <3 :D

Well, as you've said, it might very well be that you didn't spend as much time on it. When it comes to watercolors, it's a matter of relayering and washing over and over until you get the shade you want, or just barely diluting them at all when you lay it down. I tend to do a mix of both, but more of the former. Hence why I'm so damn slow.

As for the paper, I'd suggest getting a decent quality paper - a fairly thick one to boot, considering how much you saturate the paper with the water and the paints. I tend to use plain old Strathmore cold press watercolor paper in the 400 series. Doesn't warp much despite my abuse. If you're worried about that, the best way to handle it is to get a board and tape it down along the edges. That'll reduce that a ton. I flood my watercolors xD; Same with my inks.

a gaia online commission, the person wanted my art REALLY badly, I couldn't help but draw for them D:

But I also got a chuck norris scarf out of it so that's cool too <3 :D
