Wow... I did something traditional

That's a rare occurrence... Like a once a year thing... It came out so-so... here it is...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...am/drawing.jpg
Drawn and coloured by hand using a number 2 pencil, PRANG coloured pencils and a BIC pen.

oh! lovely drawing, miss mangacatgirl :D

you seem to know how to use your colored pencils :) the shading looks nice, and the coloring is smooth...

the only 'negative' thing that i could say is, that her expression is a bit 'bland'... she looks apathic or something... but that might be done on purpose ^^

Caeluma 05-30-2007 06:08 PM

wow thats so nice i love her hair~!

mangacatgirl 05-30-2007 06:13 PM

Thanks.

That's the look I generally give most of my characters unless there's a certain expression I want them to have. Because I like for them to look sort of like dolls. I like dolls... and they rarely have expressions ^.^;

Wow, very pretty coloring^^ Lots of people prefer digital art, but i think digital doesn't give the taste of traditional media. :) Anyway i like them both and i like what you did with pencils^^

It looks great. I love the coloring. The hair and eyes look awsome.

mangacatgirl 06-05-2007 12:15 AM

Thanks, a lot.

Wow, that's actually really good. You really did a number with those colored pencils!

However, to be entirely too exacting, that isn't really what I would call "traditional." "Traditional" art aims to draw ALL the features and folds of the face, or at least most of them. It also, of course, aims to make everything mirror real life exactly. At least, that's how I understand it. You really did more of a anime-influenced comic style(I say anime-influenced because of the large eyes). However, that's not to say it's not good! I like it a lot. Very nice. 8D

I really love the hair, the shines are so well done and so are all the strands

Traditional refers to the art medium. In other words, something not done using digital means.

miss.vulgar 06-05-2007 03:36 AM

mangacatgirl 06-05-2007 04:11 AM

Cinnamonmiko 06-05-2007 05:14 AM

That's lovely.

It's neatly tied off, so it looks clean, crisp and finished...
and your coloring technique is amazing. :)
Your style of eyes is very nice as well.

Oh definitely. The pearls were the last things I coloured, and by then I was sort of tired of colouring so I rushed them for sure ^.^;

Uthopia 06-06-2007 01:13 AM

Wow that's awesome. I love the shading and the colors of the hair and eyes. But I think it's awesome how it looks like you have your own style in it. Great job! :D

Oh, yes, you're right! I actually knew that. Hmm.. maybe I should avoid posting at 3am from now on... :oops:

Anyway, I'm very impressed. Your shading with traditional mediums is very good. Were those just colored pencils or did you use another medium as well?

No problem ^.^;

They are just coloured pencils. I am terrible with markers and water colours, so I stick to pencils ^.^; I guess you might count the pen I went over the outlines in. I believe I listed that though. It was just a regular pen. Nothing special.

The shading and the colors are nice!!!! Great job

yanyan13 06-07-2007 09:42 PM

great work on that :wink: i like the blending, but I think the hair clips would have looked better if they were a bit larger? just my opininon :wink:

it isn't bad, but her neck seems too long and too thick.
