Some critique please?

Well, this isn't my art, but my friend drew these for me based on some of my characters. She's always looking for opinions on her art, and she gave me permission to ask you Menewshans for some critique. ^^ So what are some things that need improved and what are your favorite parts? (Also, note... she didn't color them. That was me, because I got bored. XD)

The legs are what bug me. I mean, they look great, it could be a style thing, but in the one with the shovel, they just look really weird. Tell her to do poses in the mirror. It'll help out a lot.

Agreed with the above post. The legs seem a bit too long and oddly shaped. Unless we're going for Sailor Moon style-legs, they're too long for the body, in my opinion. Other than that, everything looks great. I love the outfits.

^^ Thank you for the critique. I'll let her know. :-D

I kind of like the longer legs with her style, but that's me. XD And even she admitted that the one with the shovel came out really badly. Silly Bethy.

The style is lovely, but it often makes the body come out disproportionate. I agree with the legs criticism - They look much too large and long for the torso. But I'm sure that can be fixed just by looking at a model or posing in the mirror.

Otherwise, the only other little thing that bugs me is the use of background. The third picture is the only one where a scene is really present, and it just doesn't fit. It's as if your friend drew the person, drew the landscape seperately, then just pasted the two together. She should get used to how a person's shadow works, and how it in turn interacts with the background. A tiny bit of darkening around the character only makes it awkward.

I will let her know. ^^ I'm not actually too sure why she had the background on that one. She's normally not into scenery and such. XD

The legs are ridiculously long, and poses are stiff and boring. The faces and hair are nice, though.
