Character I've been doodling at work
Very recently I've been fixated on drawing a certain character at work. Below is his latest incarnation. I applied a cutout filter in photoshop to clean up the lines and remove the lined paper that I doodled it on initially.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...unfinished.jpg A less recent incarnation, still in it's original lined paper pen doodle glory, is here; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...loodhunter.jpg My idea about this character's sort of evolved from a semi fascination with the idea of immortality, and what it can do to a person. Then I thought, what if the immortal in question was a complete bastard who abused his gift recklessly and with complete disregard for the lives of others? Sounds kind of like Angelus from Buffy the Vampire slayer, or any nasty, immortal vampire I suppose but hear me out. He does have parallels with vampires, in that he needs to kill in order to sustain himself. But he does so not by feasting on human flesh (although that's a rather sinister character quirk i want to give him), but by sucking their life energy dry, and using it to empower himself. I kind of imagine him working as a lethal enforcer for some criminal organization. Mainly because being threatened to have your appendix ripped out by someone who is both capable and perfectly willing to do so is quite intimidating. Although I see him as a character who can be fleshed out with more human attributes later on as well. Sort of like a villain-to-antihero thing. Anyways my goal right now is to make him look feral, vicious, and sinister. But not necessarily ugly. I rather like his nasty looking grin in my latest pic, though I know his face is off center and the proportions may be a bit weird. Also I've neglected to draw the torso just yet, mainly because I'm a hack. I might add that in later if I decide to complete the drawing. :P Any suggestions? :3 |
Hmm.
Seems comic book like no? Is that what your going for? My little sister who's 7 would be into that... |
Angel likes the orrigional sketch better. He seems to have a lot more character.

Yeah my style has always been kind of comic booky... one thing I'd like to try when I get a bit more practice with figure drawing is doing comics of some sort. Maybe it would be a good medium to play around with this guy a bit more.
But then, your output matches your input, I suppose, and I did these over the course of five to ten minutes of break at work ^^ |
He reminds me of Gaston*sp?* from beauty and the beast.. because he is quite good looking but he is also a very bad person >.<
but yea.. but now about the character plot... I do not like how he would start out.. maybe you should make him more of someone who had the good life until so and so happened... and then turn him bad... and turn him good and modest at the end?... or have him bad at the beginning but have like flash backs of when he had a better life and then turn him good >.< I dunno so many plots all seem the same or similar to me.. but anyways.. your drawing is good.. I likey.. ^_^ |
Berichan's arts are cool.. but they look very mean *nods*

Don't worry, it wasn't meant to be derogatory ^^

In both sketches, it looks like he has no ears and his neck ends too early also, in the first one, his face seems to be a little off, but other than that, it seems nice
