Lore's Oekaki Dump - New oekaki up!

I've been practicing a bit, so I figured I might as well post some progress~ There's still plenty of things wrong with this one, but I'm proud of it over all. <3

looks good. I can't draw for beans in oekaki D:

Katneko 01-26-2008 06:47 PM

Wow! It looks really nice. C: I've never done Oekaki before, but I think that looks prettyful. ; D

Dystopia 01-26-2008 07:19 PM

Nice.

The only thing wrong I see with it is that the arm int he shadows is much too skinny.

Sanctuary 01-26-2008 11:04 PM

I like it alot. You're much farther than I am in overall anatomy and the angles you work with. Especially in the hands, the hands are awesome.

Only two things really bother me; her right shoulder and her face. I was a bit dissapointed to see the anime face on the realistic drawing. The picture would be a more impressive with a more detailed face. With her nose the most. The placement seems strange and it begs for detail.

Great work overall ^^

Lore 01-27-2008 12:17 AM

Yes, Dystopia, it's called perspective. c:

And I appreciate the feedback, Sanctuary, but I don't like realism. It has its place in anatomy, but I prefer styles like this. Realism is just too.. unattractive.

I would have to say that this is a wonderful drawing except for the fact that it looks to me like her chest and upper legs are just a bit too large for the rest of her body. It might be the clothes, but I just think they should be a little bit more slender.

Otherwise, a VERY good product for an oekaki. I wish I was capable of producing them! ^__^ Keep up the great work!

Lore 01-27-2008 03:43 AM

I'll try slimming the proportions a little bit next time to see how it works out. c: Or at least try making the head a little less petite.

Thanks for the feedback! n n

Wendy Darling 01-27-2008 09:33 PM

@Lore: Sounds like a good idea, and you're welcome!

That could honestly pass for me if she were more slimmer -- it's my real hair style/colour, eye colour, clothing. . . I guess that's why I love it so much. :D

Cable Induced Coma 01-27-2008 10:14 PM

Thats really good! I like the jeans.

I've tried Oekaki it is pretty fun, but my pictures don't turn out as good as this.

I think if the head size were adjusted it'd be good--other than that, it actually looks a bit like my body type, so it's not really all that big. XD

I am amazed at your Oekaki prowess. *bows*

The only thing that I noticed really is kind of nitpicky. XD There's no real fold or wrinkle in the fabric at the back of her left knee, and in that position there'd probably be the start of one--plus it'd help make the fabric look more...Fabric-y. ^.^

Caeluma 01-28-2008 07:13 PM

very cute!

fuyumi_saito 01-28-2008 07:19 PM

wow. That's really good. The coloring is good, and so is the line art. I've..actually never understood what oekaki is though..

You draw everything with a mouse. And color it with a mouse. And...Everything. It's very difficult.

fuyumi_saito 01-28-2008 07:43 PM

Oh. okay.. I just make corrections and color with my mouse..I don't think I could ever draw with it..^^''

so that's pretty awesome that some people do that ^^

Huzzah for fandoms. I've made Pokemon People!

orlybirdy 01-29-2008 05:09 PM

XD

I love it!

My favorite part is the way you shade skin. Huzzah, I say.

Curious tho--any way to smooth out the lines any? They're so beautifully shaded, it seems kind of incongruous to have stark black lines. Depending on what you use it may not be easily done, tho.

Anywho, huzzah!

Lore 01-29-2008 05:13 PM

I can't smooth out lines to save my life, not in an oekaki applet anyway. D: The oekaki pen tools are so fuzzy, so it's like.. have no lines, have really dark lines or having fuzzy lines you can see through. ( Though I did attempt it! )

orlybirdy 01-29-2008 05:18 PM

I figured that may be the problem. You could always photoshop the lines after you oekaki?

Rather beautiful as is, though. <3

Lore 01-29-2008 05:31 PM

:3 Once/if I get photoshop again, I'll definitely try to touch it up. <3 In the mean time, I'll try working on finding a way to make decent soft lines in oekaki.

-_o Maybe if I make really light lines with pen on one layer and then multiply it a few times..

orlybirdy 01-29-2008 06:03 PM

...That just might work. Or make an top layer outline in soft pen? Tracing the original lines?

Who knows.

Lore 01-29-2008 06:18 PM

xD I tried tracing over it just now, actually. It ends up looking half solid and half pixel fuzz. :'D Ah, the joys of oekaki.

orlybirdy 01-30-2008 05:52 PM

XD

Yeah...I was attempting some last night and...I think I prefer scanning in hand-drawn work and cleaning it up a bit. XD

JiJi 01-30-2008 08:13 PM

nice work!
