Picture!

This was for my Graphic Design class where we were given an article, 2-3 random pages from dictionary and a couple of quotes. We were to draw a picture that connected the article to a word chosen from the pages of the dictionary and a quote.

My word was motivation because there's a lot of people working in Mauritius and it's a small island. The word is really out there... D:

I also didn't have to use a listed quote since the 'Island of Quiet Success' summed a lot for me and my teacher really liked it.

I intentionally wanted faces hidden or faceless because I didn't exactly want to give the people a personality. They were just people. :)

Their crops is sugarcane and god help me because I know those look nothing like sugarcane. x.x;; I just couldn't do it. >.<;;

I also used reference for the background. I googled Mauritius and it was one of the first images.

I believe that is all I wanted to say. I worked pretty hard on the shading because I tend not to shade with extreme values. I don't really care about the people. XD

Not to be redundant, tips on the placement of the word, 'motivation' would be appreciated. I wanted it to blend for the picture but I don't want it to distract the viewer from the other words.... I don't want to lower the opacity on it though.

Comments and critiques over all on it is appreciated--especially on the composition.

It's absolutely perfect! Well... not quite exactly perfect, but I love it <3 The hidden faces is such a perfect way to match with your words and task.

The word "motivation" is a little too small in my humble opinion. I don't know if you saved the background separate from the two pictures you put on top, but maybe you could use a cut out. So it'd be the blue of the ocean through the green of the sugar cane, with a grey border. And I'm not quite sure how to get it bigger, 'cuz I like your idea of it being hidden in the grass, perhaps slanted? Or the letters set along a curve?

Also, I'm brand new here, but I know from other forums you have to make your link a little more noticeable then that to get replies. I nearly passed you over thinking you plum forgot to put the picture up. ^.^; You might consider hosting things on Photobucket or something of the like (this works too) just so you can post a picture instead of a link, but that's if you're going to be doing this often.

I'll think about the text though. I believe I still have it in .psd. XD But I've already handed it in. I'll see what I can do though. :)

Ohh... Well if it's done, it's done! No sense digging up the past when you can just look forward to the future, right? ^.^ And I suppose you wouldn't really need to post the pic itself... just make the link stand out more o.o
