I don't have any lyrics to post (at least, none I can think of at the moment), but I do agree wholeheartedly with the thread sentiment. Hearing a song I think I like, and then looking up the lyrics and realizing I actually don't like it anymore can be a mildly traumatizing experience.
It happens to me a lot, because simple things like violent/sexual things even hinted at make me squick out, and I'm not fond of even some of the more commonly accepted swear words being in my music... Because what if I'm singing that in public? In church (I spend a lot of time there other than church services, so this is actually really, really logical for me)? I don't want to be the one who mistakenly starts swearing in front of someone who will find if offensive - I don't even like swearing in private.
So, yeah. I find it frustrating and mildly disturbing when songs that have a really good sound turn out to have crap-tastic lyrics. I'm not even that old, and I already am at that crabby old person stage in life where "kids these days" fail SO HARD in my mind, because this is the sort of thing they enjoy. They're not the sort to be concerned with what's in their music, they're just going along with it, even if they DO know what it says. Belting out crude lyrics in public is a clear indicator they know what they're singing, and don't have any problem with it at all! D:<
...Uh, sorry about the rant, folks. Strong subject for me, haha! xD
