I am a fan of Bagpipes I will admit it, and I particularly like a band called the Bagpipers; however I do not nor have I ever cared for Brittney Spears and yet people seem to like her more than they like the Bagpipers(and most of them have never even heard the Bagpipers music). I would like to hear you reasons as to why you prefer Brittney Spears to the Bagpipers or vice versa...

That's actually one step beyond comparing apples to oranges and moving into comparing apples to cucumbers. x3
Bagpipes are a completely different style of music from pop. The two really don't cross over. You can't really ask why someone would like one and not the other and get a result that makes sense >_>
Personally, I dislike the sound of bagpipes. They just grate on me. Catchy pop music, on the other hand, I find very easy to listen to. I think bagpipes are probably an acquired taste.

Glad someone pointed that out.
I was just confused how you even make the comparison.
I've never heard the bagpipers, but I might check them out.
As for Britney, she makes popular music, so she's pretty popular. When I was younger,I liked her -like during her "Hit me Baby one more time" thing. But as time went on, I cared less and less about her.

Bagpipes are very rough on my ears, at least the bagpipes I've heard were..
But I'm sure sometime in the past bagpipes were as big as Britney Spears. It all depends on what gets shoved into our face most. o:

i'm personally not too fond of bagpipes, but they arent bad. i think most people don't like them cuz they've never heard them and think they are loud. and brittany spears...ugh!!! never like her. her singing is horrible. i really prefer the bagpipes over her!!!
at my school, i remember during practice for something, i heard someone playing the bagpipes for the elementary kids in the cafeteria. i think they were playing amazing grace, and it sounded really cool.

I personally don't like either really. I find bagpipes to be too loud for my taste. And I don't like Britney Spears either. Her voice is terribly synthesized and it sounds gross.

I can't stand Britney Spears or any other pop music. I don't like rap, hip hop, r&b, or country, either. Can't say I've heard bagpipes before...

Never heard bagpipes?! Holy crap. Well. That's just utterly shocking to me. I've been around scottish stuff my whole life and actually was a drummer in a pipe band for two and a half years. I love bagpipes! Never heard of the Bagpipers though. I'll totally check them out. One of my favourite scottish bands though is Celtic Legacy. They have one piper, and like, 6 drummers. Their stuff is totally fricken awesome! I wana join their band one day...

well the only way to change that is to tell people about some great bagpipe music. if they won't listen to some bagpipe music try showing them some Celtic music. There are all kinds of Irish and Scottish bands out there so it's not hard to find Celtic music similar to what a person likes. so if someone say likes Nightwish, dragon force, or just likes pirates try showing them Alestorm-captain Morgans revenge. if they like blink 182 or Weezer try showing them Ceann-blame the viking. once a friend sees what great Celtic music there is out there they might be willing to listen to some bagpipes. i think a great song to tell people about is a song by Shaun Davey the parting glass it's got a few bagpipe solos and i think it's a really moving song. I hope this helps some one find some great music to listen to.

Personally, I LOVE bagpipes. Having grown up with a grandfather who was in the military, thus every rememberance day we would go to the military base, or museum, and behold the ceremony. There is always alot of bagpipes. Then as I was growing up, my parents introduced me to a band called Rawlins Cross(Celtic Rock band just recently re-unitedin the past 12 months), and we even went to their farewell concert back in 1998 I think it was. A few songs, I HIGHLY recomend by them are(some have bagpipes, others are the Irish Tin Whistle): Mairi Nighean Alasdair(Living River CD), MacPherson's Lament(Reel 'N' Roll CD), Where Would I Be(Make It On Time CD), Wild Rose(Living River CD), Sleepy Maggie/Gravel Walk/Little Beggarman(A Turn Of The Wheel CD; this has bagpipes, and its a traditional Celtic song, or 3), Long Night(Reel 'N' Roll CD, bagpipes in here, toned down a little though). I guess thats a good list of songs for people to sample...most of them, except the traditional Celtic songs, can be found on Youtube on Rawlins Cross' own profile.

Comparing these two isn't impossible, since the act of comparing is taking two things and making note of their differences and similarities, I do believe, but it was quite a random one I agree. People who like Britney Spears likely like pop music, like music that is fast or fun, those sort of things. And there are a LOT of people who just hate the bagpipes because of the instrument's tone sounding annoying.
Me, personally, I don't care much for either (though I will reluctantly admit to a friend making me a mix CD and slipping some Britney Spears song on there that I liked; and also reluctantly admit that sometimes, the bagpipes can sound pretty cool.) so I couldn't tell you. To answer your question though, people can hate the Bagpipers because they hate the instrument, and love Britney Spears because just maybe, that's the sort of music their more interested in. It's not really all that complicated to understand, because we all have such varying opinions and interests that we like what we like, and hate what we hate. It doesn't always have to make an ounce of sense.

I actually don't like either, Brittany Spears makes me cringe and no offense to anyone but so does the bagpipes, they just don't sound good to my ears and often I do find the tone and sound to be rather annoying, but don't get me wrong I'm all for different sounding instruments just not the bagpipes.

I dunno. I don't care much for Britney Spears. Sure, her music is catchy and stuff, just like any other pop artist's. I rather like the sound of bagpipes, though. :3 But, you see, it's rather pointless comparing bagpipes to pop. Bagpipes' sound is rather...peculiar.

to be honest, I like neither. I think some people prefer brittany spears because of sex-appeal, and because of her voice. There is more than just music there. I also like a lot of songs that do having singing in it. I was never into Brittany spears, or the backstreet boys, or whatever. I have always like things that are more rock, not pop.

I dislike most bagpines, they give me a headache, but sometimes it can be very beautiful. Britney Spears on the other hand, is terrible all the time. My best friend loves her and goes on about how great she is.
I'm not too fond of most pop music, but there are a few songs I like.
