Personally I love Bob Marley and I was just wondering if there was anyone else here who shares my passion? Reggae music for me is good at the best of times but his songs are just so well known and so catchy that you can't help but fall in love with them. Am I right?
My personaly favourite would have to be Red Wine.
It was actually my boyfriend that got me into Bob Marley. I knew the songs before obviously but now I listen to him religiously. Its amazing how that happens.
So...
Are there any other lovers? (or haters)
How did you discover him?
What is your favourite (or least favourite) song of his?

I actually don't like Bob Marley, really don't like.

I love reggae though, definitely one of my favorite types of music. I just don't like him because I've barely heard an original song by him, most from older reggae bands that I enjoy listening to so much more.
For example, I definitely think Red Red Wine is better by both Neil Diamond and Tony Tribe. Plus, I get pretty sick of him being idolized by like, every stoner kid I know. I've only ever met like, two other people who share my view on him though. xD

Any way, when it comes to Reggae music I love The Pioneers and Toots and The Maytals, I listen to them the most.

One of my friends shares the same veiws as you, she agrees that his songs are not as good as the originals as she can't understand him.
I don't actually like the Neil Diamond version overly much, I will agree with you on Tony Tribe though, he does do a very good version of Red Red Wine.
I think there is only one song of Bob Marley that I don't like and thats Iron Lion Zion, its not one that I was ever really fond of.
I do love reggae too, The Maytals are one of the ones I am particularly fond of too, I am afraid that Bob Marley will always be first with me though.

Man, I always thought of Toots & the Maytals as early first-wave ska. :D And I'm ALL ABOUT some first wave ska. XD Reggae is okay, in general, but I prefer ska and dancehall.

I certainly don't have anything against Bob Marley. I really think he has an integral place in music history, whether you like him or not...

Yeah, he is definately sealed in the history of music.
I quite like ska music, its not one of my favourite genres but I do listen to it every now and then.

I consider them kind of both, they cross around a lot.
Especially since first wave ska is directly linked to reggae.
Anyway, I'm glad to see a fan of it, normally the only people I find that like any sort of ska music consist od Streetlight Manifesto, Mad Caddies, ect.

As for Bob Marley, a friend of mine actually showed me one of his earlier songs, that I was kind of surprised to realize I found it alright. It didn't sound like much of his other stuff though.

hehe. Yeah, I had my time with third wave too, back in high school. But the older I got, the more I appreciated the older stuff. :D
