Anywhere between the 1910s to now, there is great music. I love anything from doo-wop to metal. I just hate screamo and MOST rap ( not to mention... ICP, whatever genre that goes under. xD ). There are very few genres that I don't like. I don't want to start a fight, so please don't take offence to my hatred of those genres ( and band ). I'm simply stating an opinion. ^.^

Probably from the 60's through the end of the 90's. Lots of good stuff up in there.

I have to say, I like the way you think. Haha. The '60s were so inspirational. So much had changed in the music industry.. And it didn't stop there. It had triggered something in people. They wanted to make new sounds, rather than the mainstream. Funny enough, they ended up changing the mainstream. Things kept changing more and more and people got more and more creative. ( I don't like most music from today, but sometimes I can see so much creativity. ) I only wish that more people respected traditional music more. Rather than only listening to songs for their badass guitar solos ( which I know can be amazing ), listen to the real voice and flow of the music. So many "singers" don't sing like they should. There isn't any soul. And NO, I don't mean they should add more "whoa"s and "oh"s. xD They should enjoy what they do. They should try their hardest. I've been singing/songwriting since I was five, and I love doing it. I'm not a professional, but I know what sounds good to people and what doesn't. Forcing my voice to do things it shouldn't sounds bad. ( Like if I tried to sing like Mariah Carey. God Bless her, but I cannot do that with my voice! Haha. ) The fact that I'm gonna get gold for posting my opinion DOES help me come up with more to say. xD But I think I had too much caffeine. Heh heh. Have a nice day!

'90s music is pretty good, but would you guys mind recommending some songs from 60s-90s?
I never seem to find the names!. D:

Late 70's to the late 90's has some of the best music I love.
I mostly tend to say the 80's though, because they are so random, colorful and unique.
Seriously, how many songs can you find that are named after fish, that sound decent? :o

fiana7895 I immediately think of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Heart with the earlier music. Later, I think of Rammstein, Origa, Tool, Bush, Creed, early Nickelback, etcetera. But, in case you didn't notice, I am a rocker. xP So my selection applies to mainly rockers. I hope that I was diverse enough, just by throwing names around off the top of my head.

db8ann I actually am not too fond of the '80s in general. But that isn't to say there was no good music in the '80s. To say so would be incredibly close-minded. But, as I said, I don't prefer '80s music over '50s, '60s, '70s and '90s. Haha. But that is just my opinion, with which I hope not to offend you!

I prefer the 40's-mid 70's, Led Zeppelin being my favorite.
I love jazz artists such as Harry Gibson, Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, and Les Paul. I also love blues artists such as John Lee Hooker, Blind Willie McTell, and Robert Johnson. I love rock artists such as Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Jefferson Airplane, and The Allman Brothers (before Duane died). Also, folk artists such as Bob Dylan, Donovan, Brewer & Shipley. I do like select artists from the 80's, 90's and 2000's- today.

o.o;; Only thing I'm offended by is you thought I said I didn't like the 80's---- I said I tend to say the 80's. Since I'm a fan of things from the late 70's to the late 90's.
Not exactly closed minded, if I say it is my favorite-- or did I misread the title of this thread? o.0

(Mhh, I take these random threads here and I always end up finding a small "fight" or a debate... Must be the weather, autumn makes people gloomy.)

But yeah, my opinion on this subject depends on the country! I love American's 30's, British 70's and Scandinavian present! The 90's were already so universal that it's hard to pinpoint it, but I prefer the European 90's simply because of the nostalgia! I didn't like Spice Girls (or I don't admit it...) but Aqua was really close to my heart. Oh, and The Cranberries, too! :eager: Plus the Smurf-fever was just must in my childhood.
But USA had its own appeal then, too, do I even have to mention Nirvana here? :D

Mhh, I wonder if I even should've tried posting here since I can't name any specific favorite generation?

Omgosh... I would have to say Late 40s to early 00s. There is some good music out now, but it is rare and few. I listen to Frankie to Led Zepplin to The Doors to Nsync =) Loooove it!

Hm...the eighties was my personal favourite genre of music. Early eighties in particular. However, from the '60s until the late '80s I loved most of the music. I think I must be one of the very few that hates '90s music. xDD

What about Primus?
I've always liked Claypool more than Cobain to be honest.

Most of my favorite music is from the
30s to the late 70s..

Billy and the essentials, The Beatles, The Ramones,
Louis Armstrong, Led Zeppelin, The Mamas & The Papas, The
Clash, The Skyliners, The Duprees, Frank Sinatra..

Sometimes, I think I was born in the wrong era..
D;
I'd drop out of school and just go to concerts
if I was born in the late 50s..
