Everyone(or pretty darn near everyone) has a certain genre of music that they don't like. I always hear: "Oh, I don't like Country/Rap/Rock/Whatever,"
It kind of irks me when I hear that someone doesn't like Country music because I(in all my bias and such) usually assume it's just because Country has a tendency of being "uncool"(whatever that means) because that was my reason for not liking it when I was little. But if I really think logically, I guess I can understand a person's dislike of the twang and Southern accent or whatever. Silly people, not liking Country.
Obviously, everyone has their own reasons for not liking a genre of music. Some don't like rap because it's not actual singing or it's pretty damn much all about bishes and Pimperning and stuff, some don't like Country because it's all about cowboys or whatever. Hell, I dislike most 80's music because this one girl I hate loves it.
So, what makes you dislike a genre?

Yeah, funny how Taylor Swift is suddenly on MTV instead of just Country Stations. My guess is she sings well and she's a pretty young woman(trying not to sound insulting because I really do like her too). But that's why I like Country- besides the no bishes or pimpers or screaming. The singers don't have to be super good looking to make it big, they just need talent. And I assure you, no heiress who suddenly decided it'd be fun to sing could very well succeed in the Country music world.

Country is death. The voice and it's mostly emo country like, "I meeeeiiisss herr darrrlin'." Something like that. o.o It's so wierd in not intriguing.

I don't care for the vast majority of today's mainstream rap music.
I'm a sucker for good lyrics. Hell, I could like ANYTHING if it's written well enough. Even the most blatantly sexual lyrics, if they have a good, POETIC thing going for them, there's a good chance I'll like them. I can like a very violent song, or a song about someone dying if it's written well. A good melody is also important to me with those; if there's no good melody, then it's not a very good song in my opinion. :|
And most of today's mainstream rap music lacks both of those. I turn on the radio, and what do I usually hear? Some obnoxious rich guy trying to sound badass. >.<; Talking about sex and drugs and violence - when most of these people are so damn pampered that they probably have no pain tolerance whatsoever, I might add. Nothing poetic about those lyrics, just ego inflation for some rich guy who has little more going for him than his body (and I'm not even attracted to the "gangstah rappah" look in the first place). On top of which, there's no real melody to it - it's basically just talking over a few instruments. Not particularly pleasant. :|
That's not to say there haven't been a few rap songs I've liked, though - after all, I've never found a genre that I found to be ALL bad.
I actually do like a lot of country music, though. I know a lot of people who don't...but I find there's a lot more emotion in it than there is in a lot of other music. I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. ^^;

I dont dislike a pertucular genre. I like all types :) But some country songs annoy me I suppose. Because they are about being divorced and depressing sometimes. ='[ but once again that doesnt mean I dislike country MUSIC, just the song.

I don't always like country. Lots of times I don't like what they sing about and most country singer have this nasally voice that I find annoying. But I find that I like Martina McBride because her voice is powerful but clearer and with better tone than many country singer, plus her songs are better. I don't listen to her often but when I do I like it.
And rap because most of the time I don't know a word they are saying and when I do understand the words I wish I hadn't have. >__>;
Screamo is just disturbing. It sounds like demons are trying to actually escape the human body. It just isn't pleasing to my ears.

I don't really dislike any genre, just annyed by some, though I don't hate the people for liking it. I know you probably don't have this genre in your poll, though I am not a huge fan of techno and Hawaiian. Tencho is too loud and fast and strange. More for dancers, and I don't like to dance. As for Hawaiian, it just annys me. Anyone who likes it, they can and I don't care. Just don't force me to listen to it. I live in Hawaii, so I hear it all the time. Regardless if I want to or not.

I don't like the emo/screamo stuff that's going on. Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, that kind of stuff bothers me because I can't honestly tell ANY of those genre bands apart. At ALL. That's what really annoys me. I see no difference between them, there lyrics are basically all the same and I will listen to one song, think 'Well, that's not so bad' and then listen to a completley different song and think 'Didn't I hear this already?'
RESULTS; FAIL. D:
I love lyrics and arrangements. But I also am in love with different voices, and how they can shape a band. Does this mean I don't like all mainstream? Hell no. M.I.A and Feist are crossing over and I still love both of them.

Ooh, don't tell me I'm the only one who's bias is strong enough that they'd actually dislike a genre because some else they hate likes it.
A friend of mine said she doesn't like Country because something about her uncle's from Oklahoma- maybe she's just heard too much of it?

I am not a fan of rap because of the image it portrays. At least all of the rap i've ever heard is all about "screwin' mah bitches and shootin da hoes" and what not. Not a very positive message.
I also want to add, that theres something about the tempo and beat that bugs me with rap. I just never felt the music flows with the lyrics, if that makes sense?

I don't like most rap - too much "drugs and hos", but sometimes I hear rap that actually fits the rhythmn and has better lyrics.
I don't like most dance genres as they're too repetitive and often don't have anything to actually listen to.
I don't like some of the more "screamy" metal bands because it hurts my ears. >_o

There's this local music gnere in my country that I really can't stand....because it's noisy from trying to imitate indian musics (although I love indian musics), the lyrics are nothing but clinggy and whiny love songs, and...I don't know, I just really not interested to that genre and whenever I hear it, I will feel really irritated.
I won't say the genre's name because it's quite well-known actually, even though this is a small country.
But I like country music, jazz, classical, and almost all kind of other genre, including some of the other local genres in my country...it's just that one particular genre that I really, really can't stand...o_O
