Do you still use it/listen to radio? Do you listen to local stations, or do you listen online? Have you ever worked in radio? (just for the rec, I have and do. This is my 4th DJing spot; you can check out my show on Wednesdays EST 2-4 on http://theradiator.org or check my podcast)
I'm just curious because sometimes I wonder if radio is anywhere as important as it used to be. When I was younger I really loved radio and I used to call in to DJs all the time for requests; I had loads of cassette tapes of songs with the beginnings missing or the ends talked thru because the song came on and I was scrambling to turn on the tape machine.
Except for college radio, which is usually more freeform I don't listen as much as I used to, and if I didn't work for my station I probably wouldn't check out too many of the other programs on it. It just seems in these days where there are sites like last.fm and grooveshark and places to get mp3s of anything one wants there's not as much point to radio. What do you think?

I loved the radio as a kid and would spend hours making mix tapes. I really only listen to it when I'm in a car. When I commuted to school I'd call in to my favorite morning show (which is now gone) every day and goof off with the guys.
I'm not interested in radio anywhere near as much as I used to be because a lot of the music played now just sucks.

Meeeeeh... I'll still listen to classic rock radio. Today, there's very few things on the radio that I actually would like to hear. Especially since in the area it's completely either Top 40, Country, or classic rock.
Internet Radio though... I'll listen to Sky.fm every now and then. Sometimes the default stations that come with iTunes, but other than that not really. Oh, Pandora Radio if that counts too.

I was a big radio listener as a kid -- AM, FM, I had the radio on all day long, but now I don't listen to it all -- not music, not news, and certainly not talk -- it's just not fun anymore...

I listen to radio almost every day. I prefer it to my iPod when I'm in the car because I find it fun to hear the radio hosts blather on sometimes.
I like to listen to my local stations a lot. I also use Pandora, and I love the NPR app on the iTouch. Best news station in the world, that.

I don't listen to radio anymore, and havn't for a long time.
I just really don't like today's popular music, which is all they play on the radio.
I have an aux port in my car, so I just plug in my ipod and listen to my music.

Again, I know I don't, so it's not entirely true. Also different types of stations play different things.
Maybe you were just listening to the wrong "they". ;)

It's not as an easy job as it looks. Filling in air is hard. I have been interviewed for radio quite a few times, and it surprises me how many times the host will ask how he or she is doing -- they are doing a great job, but it's such a public profession. That's why I like to write -- it's not the same pressure to react so fast...

Explodey: Well unless there's some secret radio station that plays flogging molly, dropkick murphy's, nightwish and all the other music that I like, there aren't any radio stations that play good music around here.

I really only listen to the radio when I'm stuck in vehicles that don't have CD players. I'm personally not fond of about 95% of the music played on most radio stations, but it's better than silence.

I listen to the radio in the morning. we have a pretty good morning program on the station I listen to. And I enjoy the breadth of music they play as well as the radio talk show itself. Most stations have changed to more pop music than true Rock. I'm just glad I know that my local station will play ACDC and Disturbed and Cee Lo Green back to back.

That's college and community radio in a nutshell, actually. ;)
I'd say give my show a listen, but those particular bands aren't my particular cuppa (altho I know most of them and like some things in similar veins) but I know there are some shows on our station that might cater to your tastes.
But I'm not just trying to plug The Radiator; this kinda prgramming is on most college and community stations. Get involved! It's fun being a DJ. Then you'll KNOW there's a prog that has exactly what you like, cos you'll be the one programming it.

My college did have a radio station, but they never played anything I liked lol.
And I was always too busy to actually go and have to my own show on it.
We don't have a community radio station either lol. There's the big radio stations in the city, but that's it.

I am always listening to the radio and calling asking to play songs.
In the car, and in my bedroom. I like to know what's going on...
And listening to music.... I couldn't live without it. [Well I can, but you know what I mean...=D]

I don't like the sound of my voice but I'd just babble on about nothing to fill time. Man, I miss radio. XD
As for me listen to the radio, I don't do it too often. There's this one morning show here that's pretty funny that I'll listen to when I get up that early. I love them.
I hate most music played ont eh radio now a days. Music just went so downhill it's not even funny.
