What music do you writers listen to when you're writing?
I myself like to listen to instrumental music.

Instrumental for me, or Japanese/anime OSTs because I don't understand Japanese and can thus sort of tune it out. :3

I usually listen to the same stuff I normally listen to. I am partial to songs in foreign languages and symphonic metal though so that the lyrics don't get in my muse's way. Oh, but sometimes I find a song or a band or something like that, that seems to correlate with what I'm writing and I will play that song nearly on repeat. For July's camp NaNoWriMo, I listed to The World Where you Exist by Shinee almost constantly because part of the lyrics inspired something in the writing on accident and I then deemed the song my couple's song.

I usually just listen to instrumental music as well; I sometimes worry that if I listen to anything with lyrics, it might influence my writing. I like to listen to a lot of Adrian von Ziegler's songs while I write.
There's also a video called "A Vampire's Lullaby" on YouTube with a song that I find very inspirational for my writing. I'm pretty sure that's not the name of the song, though.

I've been listening to the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie score as I've been writing my latest fanfiction.

Depends on who I'm writing as.
I don't really write by myself. I roleplay, but I definitely classify it as writing just the same. So, it depends on the character I'm writing for. Elena Incatasi, which is my bitch vampire queen who doesn't take no for an answer, gets Avenged Sevenfold as the creation for my muse. If it's a quieter, softer character, I'll listen to something classical. Each character has it's own "playlist" that helps me get settled into the mood of the character.

I usually listen to Yuki Kajiura's music she is my fave artist~!
For violent or fast pace scenes I sometimes switch to Malice Mizer or Boom Boom Satellites~ It's what ever my muse wants lol! Some times they conflict each other and I have to hit them till they decide on one band/artist to listen to lol! Yup my muses are the spiders in my brain~!

Right now i'm working on a comic book and have created a playlist/soundtrack to it to keep me on track with the emotions and storyline i'm going for per chapter.
it includes artists like Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra, Tegan and Sara, Fences, An Horse, Of Monsters and Men, etc. 16 songs for 16 chapters. :D

^haha, too true!
For me, it depends on what I'm writing. Generally I listen to instrumentals, as I tend to get really distracted when listening to vocal music. Lately I've been listening to Adrian von Ziegler and E. S. Posthumus for my writing music, though sometime's I slip into Emilie Autumn's instrumental work or Medwyn Goodall's music.

Really depends on what I'm writing. Different music types evoke different sceneries and scenes for me. But if I just need to zen the hell out... Symphonic Metal like Dark Tranquility.

I also tend to stay away from music with lyrics unless it's a battle scene. Then it's all hyped up and lyrics help with the emotion~! Or a love scene is good with love lyrics~ If it's just normal things that's when lyrics tend to not help lol!

Seems like a lot of people listen to instrumental when they're writing! Not that I'm any different, last few days at least I've been listening to epic movie scores when I write. It's fun to be writing something and suddenly Khazad Dum starts playing. I'm always tempted to write in something like "Fly, you fools!" Always. It never fails to amuse me.

Classical music, epic soundtracks, but I've also found that Nightwish and Radiohead inspire a lot of my writings. Maybe it's the vibe that some of those songs give off.

It depends what persona I am emulating musically. For my whacked out of his mind side, Tyler, the Creator has some good inspiration in his music. If I'm being the lovey dovey singsonger, it's all about Panic at the Disco's Pretty.Odd. album. when I'm just feeling like writing for me, I like Michael Jordan Touchdown Pass, Ramshackle Glory, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Wingnut Dishwasher's Union, The Taxpayers, The Wild, and Bomb the Music Industry! as inspirational sources for their honest writing style

It also depends for me. I tend to listen to what bests fit what or who I am writing. I don't always listen to music either; if I have inspiration, I tend to not need it. On the other hand, I have made some amazing characters while listening to music that I feel fits the mood of what I'm trying to make.
The only thing that I probably wouldn't listen to may be along the lines of rap because I don't normally listen to that anyway.

Like a lot of other writers have said, it depends on what and who I'm writing. I tend to listen to trance, classical, ambient nature sounds, world instrumental music, oldies...it all depends on the who, what, where, and when.
