Who here likes Kenny Rogers? He's the guy who sings The Gambler. I'm unsure if he's still alive lol, I personally love The Gambler. Mind you, I'm a 14 year old who's into classic rock and 'moldie oldies' from years ago :)
Quote:
On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness
'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.
He said, "Son, I've made a life out of readin' people's faces,
And knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
And if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice."
So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.
Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."
And when he'd finished speakin', he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

- Oh that foo is definitely still alive. He's the spokesperson for Barona Casino (Barona Valley Ranch) and ohmigosh my mom makes me listen to his music -_-;;; Can't say whether I like his music or not as I really don't have an opinion on it. But I can assure you he's definitely still alive.

I listened to a bit of his music when I was a little kid. I don't listen to country music, though, so I can't say at all that I'm a fan.
He's pretty old, but he's still around and kicking. ^^;

I think there was a song of his I liked, but.... no clue what. I'm not big into that type of music, and have a hard enough with artists as it is.

I've only listened to a few of his songs, but I do like him, and it's rare I like a Country singer.
My favorite of his is Coward of the County.

When I was a little kid, my father had a Kenny Rogers cassette tape and we would listen to it in the car when we were out for a drive. I remembered that I really liked the songs. I was quite fond of the song "Lucille" and "Coward of the County," and I also liked "The Gambler." I knew all the words to those songs and plenty of others, but it has been so long since I've heard them so I can't remember.
There was also a Kenny Rogers Roasters near where I lived when I was little. XD Lawl, they had some good chicken.
