I think the neo-swing bands you're talking about should've stayed underground. The music is enjoyable enough, but the nature of pop culture to overindulge in anything it enjoys pretty much ruined the neo-swing movement. The fact that it went mainstream essentially kept it from being popular in the long term because everyone loved it intensely for a very short period of time and then got sick of it. :)
