Aww, the story behind it is so cute. D:
I thought that they were actually dating because he makes it seem so in the lyrics.
It's kind of sad...But I don't think I'd go out with a guy just because he wrote me a song.
I just love the lyrics because I loved a guy that lives probably MORE than a thousand miles away from me, haha.
The voice and beat is annoying though. D:

I like that song...not enough to buy it, but enough that I like hearing it every once in a while. I don't listen to the radio very much, so I haven't heard it way too much like a lot of people here.
I think it's kind of creepy that he wrote it for someone who doesn't want to date him though. I mean the lyrics make it sound like they're already in a relationship. Were they in a relationship at some point? That would make more sense.

It's a very cute song. The first time I heard it was at an acoustic coffeehouse. I ended up downloading it a few weeks later P:
I like it most because I can play it on both guitar and piano. It's a crowd-pleaser, too. xP
That poor girl! It must be half-total suck and half-complete rock to have a really popular love song written about you. That's a lot of pressure. I wouldn't have gone out the guy, but I would have turned him down -very nicely-. P:

It's a nice song, but I can't stand it. When it came out they were playing it all the time on the radio, and it was on a bunch of TV shows as well. I just got tired of it really fast... Kinda like the Umbrella song and that Bubbly song now as well.
and as for the girl not going out with him... making some kind of public statement like that... kinda borders on beeing a stalker if she really didn't like that guy he should have got the hint and gone away not write a song for millions to hear...

I think the writer of the song changed the girls name. Not many people have that name anyway...So maybe it could be the girl's nickname.
I love this song too. I wouldn't go out with the guy, because I don't like guys, but yeah. I really love the band though. Plain white Ts.. Or however you spell it. *Is a fan*

Oh. Thats The sweetest thing a guy could ever do.
I can understand how she had a boyfriend and all, but
how could you not love Tom?
I do feel a tinybittyittybit bad for her. She missed an amazing guy.
I went to the Yound Wild things Tour, And Tom asked the audience if we camewith somone we loved.
I went with two of my best friends. Then he told us to hug our loved ones, and he said,
" I just saw the most wonderful thing. 7,000 people hugging."
Then he played Hey There Delilah.

I only have hate to this song because my name was close to Delilah. (yah. My friends tease me about it all of the time.)
Overall, the song was great. It has a nice beat to it. (however, isn't the song a bit old? I remember listening to it like two years ago. I may be wrong or confused with another song.) I just thought it was weird how the radio station kept on playing it every hour. However, congrats to Plain White Ts.

It's such a cute song. But I really hate it. I can't really say why, just not my thing.
I don't recall when it came out. The radio stations sure have beat it to death though. ><

I love that song so much. Unfortunately They over-played it.
I still love it anyway. I've been listening to that song since it first came out like a couple years ago, It's amazing.
It makes my life but I don't think I would ever be able to love someone that much. So if someone wrote a song like that for me... I would have to turn them down after an explaination in they wanted it.

It's overplayed way too much...it got annoying way to quick, along with Beautiful Girls and Umbrella. I think the Plain White T's will have a hard time matching the success of Delilah.

That lost part made me laugh about his babies.
Yeah my friend told me about that... I didn't know she found it in Wikipedia! xD
Hmmm, those songs are just plain awesome--- plain white tee's much?
They come from the heart and it's completely legit. I want to find love like that.... true, articulate and yet amazing.

And I feel sorry for poor Delilah. Imagine all that pressure from that song. It's
pretty cool though to have such a great song made for you. But I bet it's be a bit
annoying.

I don't really like or dislike that song. I've heard it a few times but never listened to the lyrics that closely. I didn't really know about the story behind it. Well, I do remember once seeing on the internet somewhere saying the girl the song was about turned him down, and they had parody lyrics of it. It was pretty funny, sadly I don't remember where I saw it. I didn't know the song was about a long distance relationship or that they never actually were in a relationship though. Next time I hear it I guess I'll listen to the words more closely. It is sad that she turned him down, but maybe she had a very good reason for it. He might have simply not been her type, or maybe he did something that upset her, or maybe she was in love with someone else. I think it's sweet for a guy to write a song for a girl, but it could be awkward and embarrassing too. If I was single and someone did that, I'd probably give them a chance at least. But I certainly wouldn't leave my boyfriend for someone because they wrote a song for me, sweet as that is. If someone loves someone else, you can't do much to change that.

I love this song. =3
And the reason she turned him down was because when they met, she had a boyfriend of 6 years at the time XD I found an interview with the girl a few days ago, and it really was a sweet story. =]

It really is a good song, and I think everyone has their own meaning for it, but it was totally abused and overplayed. I know of one radio station where you can hear the strings playing in the back ground, and another station where you can't. It's so strange.
