I know, it's nuts, isn't it. It's Japan doing what it does best; being utterly bizarre. xDD

I have a really hard time figuring out if I hate it or love it... I think it's the musical equivalent to Toffee Bacon cake, my taste buds are alternating between "AWESOME!" and "I might need to throw up" in high frequency

What. The. Hell.
It's not bad, but what. The. Hell.
I'm not at all sure how to properly frame a response to this...
The weirdest thing is that I am 90% sure that I know at least one of those vocalists from a Touhou circle. If not, the similarity is uncannily, well, similar. .___.
Need you guys to experience this craziness too! I can totally see ol' Droopy liking this. Oh and yes The Wandering Poet: Money where your mouth is, young man!
It doesn't have that WTF appeal though.
I mean I could show you real WTF but it might break mene's ToS and will definitely scare the children owo'
Correction... it would break mene's ToS...
A friend showed me this music video a while ago. We were both laughing our butts off when we heard this. We even sang along with it~ And before - yes, the actual Japanese lyrics. Both of us are fluent in Japanese. Neither of us were good singers though so I can only imagine the earaches if someone else heard us.
Ive heard these gals before. Im torn between loving and hating it to be honest. The clean vocals and the lolita/childish marketing mean that you could put them with pretty much ANY style of music and they'd be able to blend in, but theyve targeted metal because its such a juxtaposition, and yet thats what makes them so effective and outstanding! Then I realise that theyre just corporate whores essentially, and so I realise that, although I like the sound because its different, I hate it because of what it represents.
That said, this song has been in one of my youtube playlists for quite a while now:
And the clapping hair has gone into my 'Weird Part Of Youtube' playlist!
Also, noting Captain Howdy: s response, you may be interested to hear that Im going to see Fleshgod Apocalypse and Septic Flesh in May, and my mates band The Seer are opening for them! Looking VERY forward to this event! It's going to be TITS!

I'm not sure what to think. I am LOVING the drums and guitar shred, but the voice.... uhh.... I can't understand them but not in the normal guttural growls way. It doesn't fit? I feel like it's a mash up rather than a new music form... It's like anime ate metal and softened it and then bedazzled it. but didn't touch the double bass or guitar solos?
I'm so confused. There's that touch of techno/house mixed in and I'm just conflicted.
However Drop's posted song is pretty cool.
Actually Baby Metal have been around a wee while now. When I found them in about 2011, the younger girls were about eleven!
The first one I heard was Doki Doki Morning.
Honestly, it just struck me as a gimmick. "Let's take these two polar opposite things and put them together for laughs and to get attention for a few minutes." Didn't really strike me as a serious attempt at a musical statement. Really surprised to see Bearzy say they've been around for a while - figured it'd be a few-months thing. But what do I know about J Pop?
