Need Some Help With My Ending?
 

Hello there everyone. :)

For quite a while now I've been working on a non-typical 'boy meets girl' story (but boy is actually a fallen angel and girl is a teenage human). It's got the plot, where Cecil, the heroine, is accidentally brought into the Underworld and meets the king of the Underworld, a fallen angel named Valireon. He's framed and needs her help to clear his name and all that good stuff. And of course Cecil ends up falling for Valireon, and I've got everything up to that point--but I'm not quite sure how to end the story. You see, Valireon had originally been an Angel living in Heaven, but the Kazmi, the Ultimate Chaos, corrupts him and he's banished to the Underworld where he becomes king... In the end, Valireon uses Kazmi to defeat the 'final boss' in the story, and this kills him... I'm not sure if I should go cliche and bring him back to life, or if I should leave him dead and Cecil just goes home, end of story? Only because there are a few cute ideas I have for both endings:

1) Valiron dies, but tells Cecil he'll always be with her; later, Cecil is taking pictures with her friends and in the photo sees Valireon sitting in his favourite chair in her room...

-OR-

Valireon dies and tells Cecil he'll always be with her, and she sees him in the mirror. (Kinda creepy, tho... ^^;)

2) Valireon lives, and stays with Cecil in her world as a cat. :3

-OR-

Valireon lives, but sends Cecil home and tells her to just call him whenever she needs him.




Here's the basic storyline:

Cecil's accidentally kidnapped by one of Valireon's demons, and is brought to the underworld where she sits in a dungeon for a couple of days... Then, Valireon's main demon servant dude who's name is Vexus takes her to the Castle of Dante (Valireon's Castle). She meets Valireon and likes him immediately, only because she thinks he's human and they're surrounded by demons and banished souls. Valireon's a fallen angel, so he's like Prince Charming, eh? His hair is long and wavy and the colour of gold, and his eyes are blue but are clouded since Kazmi (The Ultimate Chaos) is living in his soul. He's a strict leader but is very compassionate and understanding when Cecil has a mental breakdown and cries for her family. He's not a violent person but is a very skilled warrior and easily overcomes any obstacles. But when Cecil is endangered he becomes very sensitive and worries only about her, which often gets him hurt. He sends her home at some point when he meets with a warlock, but gives her the choice (without her knowing) to come back if it's what she truly desires by giving her the Talisman of Traveler's Wish, which she does in fact use to get back to him. He acts all like "I sent you home to be safe" but Cecil knows he wanted her to come back. And that's when he kisses her for the first time other than Cecil's hallucination (more on that later...).
Cecil's an outgoing girl with an explosive personality, but that makes her emotions very unstable. She's not generally a shy person, but Valireon always makes her at loss for words, usually without realizing it. She's not the kind of girl to fall head-over heels for any guy, and doesn't realize she's in love with Valireon until he sends her home. Cecil's got a strong sense of justice, but often lets her emotions get in the way of her judgement.
During the 'final boss', Valireon promises Cecil that he'll get her home safely, but by releasing Chaos, Valireon's soul is destroyed..this is where he 'dies'. If he lives, Cecil's virgin aura brings him back to life in Heaven. :P

My gut instinct is raging "LEAVE HIM DEAD," but I think in this case we can ignore my gut instinct for now. =P

I don't know if I personally can really give an opinion on this, because I don't know enough about the fallen angel and Cecil's characters to know what the fallen angel guy would do, or what would fit with the story for him to do. Actually, I don't really know enough about the story to be of much help, either... Like, the stuff that happens in the middle, before the end.

Yeah, I know...I figured I would need to post actual events from the story... Which I will, so please check back soon!

What if you leave him die, but he gets reborn into something or someone somehow. The whole showing up in pictures and such is a bit creepy. Hmm, maybe he can die and gets reborn into a cat or dog or something that Cecil finds a week or so after the incident and takes care of him. She notices its her love because of something that only he does or a certain characteristic? maybe, i dunno if it'll work or how people would like it.

I like the first idea you have fore the ending. There are too many stories where people come back from the dead. I think it would be unique if she saw him in a picture or mirror, because although he's gone it could bring her some sort of comfort to know that they're never really apart and that he's still there and he's still apart of her. I think the first ending you came up with could represent the strength of the bond the two characters had, it shows that love can transcend time and overcome even obstacles such as death and I think you could come up with some really creative ways to use that.

I agree with the others to leave him dead. The only other thing I think of is his return as a guardian angel. I'm not sure how those work in your world and I'm not sure how you could do that without being painfully corny.

The only thing I can think of is an epilogue of sorts, where she is in danger (bullies, car jacking, store robbery, I don't know) and something saves her. And only leave Cecil (and us!) with hints that it was him.

Hahaha thanks to all and your lovely suggestions... I still haven't decided 100% what I want to do, but he's definitely staying dead. *boohoo...*

If he's reincarnated, he's a stray cat that wanders into Cecil's life... If he's a guardian, I'd like to make him something like her shadow... I dunno. ><" This writing business is hard...in my other stories I killed both characters (That was a yaoi story) by suicide and left it at that...
