kenome's dream
It was a couple nights before the new moon. Kenome was outside looking at the stars. She was wearing a feathery silky white dress, given to her from her grandmother. It was old looking on her, but none the less she looked as beautiful as the night sky.
Kenome sighed rolling over to lay on her stomach. Each day lately has been the same. Boring with no missions to do. No one has contacted her, no one cares. “When I turn human no one will be here……” Kenome said sadly. “Not even my Skeith.” In her sadness and pain she fell asleep. Soon after that she dreamed. It was snowy out. The trees were quiet, the snow was falling silently, and nothing around her stirred. Kenome was dressed in the beautiful dress with boots. She was very cold and she was calling out for Skeith. “Skeith! Skeith, where are you! I’m so cold!” Kenome called out, but her call was lost on the wind. Walking around in the cold snow she was soon surrounded by so many trees there was barely any snow on the ground. Kenome kept walking though, walking and wondering. Soon though she was going around in circles. Off in the distance, she saw Skeith. She started running to him, but the more she ran the farther away he got. She tried calling to him but she had no voice. After a couple minutes she fell to the ground, tired and crying. In her dream it turned dark. Then she could not see. She stood up and used her hands to know where she was going. She didn’t care where she was going, she just knew she had to move. Tripping over a tree root, she fell into someone’s arms. “Who’re you?” Asked a familiar voice. “Skeith!” Kenome said with relief, hugging him. Skeith pushed her away. “How do you know my name?” He demanded. “What do you mean? We’ve known each other for years………we’re in love with each other.” Kenome explained taking his hand and kissing it. He ripped his hand away and moved back some. “I don’t know you.” He said cruelly. Kenome’s world crumbled under her feet. Her heart burst under the strain and she backed away from him saying no over and over. Until she backed into a tree then she slid down and sat at its base. Skeith turned away, walking away from her. When she thought she couldn’t take it anymore she got up and ran after him. Turning, he gave her the most evil look. “Do not follow me, vermin.” He said cruelly again. Kenome stopped dead. She started to cry again. Clutching her chest she fell to the ground, Skeith turned and walked away from her. Never to see her again. Kenome woke up screaming and thrashing. Arms surrounded her and she hugged whoever was there. Soft, sweet hands caressed her head and whispered comforting words into her ear. She cried until no more tears were left. When she was done crying she looked to see who was holding her with red, swollen eyes. To her greatest joy it was Skeith, looking at her with worried eyes. “Your okay now my love, I’m here for you.” He said delicately, hugging her again and kissing her forehead. “Never leave me, please!” Kenome cried out holding him to her. “Why would I leave you my love?” Skeith asked worried. “……Just promise me you won’t ever leave me………” “Of course I promise……….why wouldn’t I?” Kenome said nothing more and snuggled closer to Skeith. Nothing else was said, no one wondered how Skeith knew Kenome needed him. They sat like that, soon after, falling asleep. |
