Okay, uhm... Using this thread for a story I'm writing; Devil's Eye.
I'll be posting a page per post to prevent stretching the page with my normal account and my mule.
Should a mod see this and decide I shouldn't because it's accounted as as cheating with gold; do let me know and I'll try to do it differently.
Okay, so... English isn't my native language so there are bound to be PLENTY of grammatical errors in it, but don't sweat that too much, alright?
Please don't post in here, but if you'd like to comment on it, then don't hessitate to PM or comment me :3
That's all =p

He sinks into his seat, phone cradled against his ear. “You wish to see me?” he asks, not quite able to keep the surprise from entering his voice.
“Yes, is that so strange?” Comes the voice of his friend from the other side of the receiver. The voice which has lately sounded so exhausted now contains a tint of excitement.
“No, not really.” William admits “You’ve just been so busy with work lately that I wondered if I’d ever gotten to see you again.” He jokes lightly, earning himself a small bout of laughter from the other side of the receiver.
“I know, I know. I’ve been really busy lately, but don’t worry; I’m fine now.”
“That’s good.” William smiles slightly to himself, reaching forwards and taking the cup filled with tea from the table. “I’ve been a bit worried about you, you sounded really tired lately. You shouldn’t work too much anymore, it’s not good for you.” He attempts to take a small sip from the tea but refrains from drinking the hot liquid after it touches his lip.
“I know, Will. But don’t worry, everything is just fine now.” He can almost hear the grin in the other man’s voice which makes him smile.
“Well, you know you’re welcome anytime tonight. I don’t really have any plans anymore so...” he blows at his tea lightly.
“You sure? No appointments with your little princess after dark?”
William sets the tea back on the table as he laughs. “No, no appointments with Sarah.” He smiles “You know we’re waiting.”
A small grunt comes from the other side of the line. “Yeah, you’ve been waiting for twelve years now.” Peter mumbles before snorting amusedly. “Anyway, I need to fix a few things and then I’ll head over your way, alright?”
“Alright.” William agrees “If you’d like milk in your coffee you’ll need to bring it yourself, though. I ran out a few days ago and haven’t gotten to get new milk yet.”
“Sure, sure.” Peter replies offhandedly. “Later, Will.”
“Bye.”
Hearing the dial tone, William puts the phone down on the receiver as well, sitting back once more.
“Whatever are the odds....” He muses softly to himself as he laces his fingers lazily. Just today he’d been telling Sarah about how he hadn’t seen his best friend in ages, and then he suddenly calls to come over.
“About time too...” He smiles to himself as he tilts his head back, looking at the boring ceiling which supports a few cracks. It has been a few months since Peter and him have last sat under that ceiling together after all.
Not even half an hour passes before the doorbell rings, making William snap out of his musings and lift himself from his comfortable chair. He moves through the living room and the short hallway leading to his door before opening it.
“Pete---“ He cuts himself off as his eyes widen lightly upon seeing his friend.
“Hey, Will.” Peter smiles.
William can only stare. His best friend who has always looked tall and thin now looks even thinner. He has dark bags under his brown eyes and his cheekbones are sticking out so much above the sunken cheeks that they look cut out from his thin, pale face.
“What happened?” William asks, still shocked over what his friend looks like right now.
Peter laughs lightly at this. He didn’t notice over the phone, but William now realises how hollow it sounds, how absolutely tired. “Well, you know. Work, work, work. Bars are open too long you know?” The corners of Peter’s thin lips move up slightly in a shadow of a smile. “You going to let me in or what?”

William snaps out of his shock and hastily steps aside. “Of course, of course...” he murmurs, eyes following the form of his tall friend as Peter moves inside. He looks like a single touch can shatter him in a million pieces.
“So...” he begins while closing the door, yet not quite sure about how to end it. “Work, right?” The appearance of his friend is just so shocking that his mind emptied itself, yet it doesn’t feel right to not say anything at all.
“Yeah, and quite a lot of it too.” Peter replies as he moves into the living room, followed by William. “Got a few days off now, though. Used my day off yesterday to clear out the attic and such.” He continues with a casual shrug of his arm.
“Oh? That old junkyard of yours?” William jokes lightly as he moves into the kitchen connected to the living room. “Coffee?”
“Sure. And yes, that old junkyard of mine. You won’t believe all the things I found there, really.”
“Did your entire life flash in front of your eyes or something?” William asks as he turns on the coffee machine before moving back to the living room while it heats up.
“Well, it pretty much did.” Peter admits “Can you believe it? I even found this small hat I wore all the time when I was a toddler. My grandmother actually knitted it for me back then.” He scratches the back of his head sheepishly.
“Really?” William asks amused, leaning against the doorway connecting the living room and the kitchen.
“Yeah, unbelievable, really.” Peter shrugs as he makes himself comfortable on the couch. “I also found some things I’d rather not have found, unfortunately.”
“Oh?” William tilts his head to the side slightly, curious. “Like what?”
“Well...” He digs around in his pocket before digging out a necklace. “Like this.”
William blinks and moves closer to get a better look at the necklace. Upon closer inspection he realises its a small golden medallion on a thin golden chain. “Does it open?” he questions curiously.
“Hm?” Peter blinks a few times, snapping out of his thoughts. “Oh, yeah, it does.” He holds it out to the other to take.
William takes it into his hand, carefully prying the small locket open. “Wow... This is amazing, Peter!” he exclaims, staring at the inside in disbelieve.
Instead of a picture which normally frames the inside of a medallion is a stone he has never seen before. It seems to be a mix between a tiger eye and a ruby. There are a few darker parts inside of it which are set in a swirly shape.
“Oh man,” he laughs “it looks like those swirls are an eye which is staring straight at me, kind of creepy.” He smiles. He lets his eyes run over the medallion a little bit longer before closing it again, holding it out to Peter.
Peter however, just shakes his head, waving the medallion away. “You can keep it, I don’t want it anymore.”
William frowns lightly in confusion. “It looks expensive, though. I can’t just take something like this.”
“It is and you can.” Peter shrugs “I got it from an old girlfriend years ago. Rich little girl she was but we broke up on some pretty bad terms.” He continues while sitting back “It holds some memories I don’t want to be reminded off and I don’t want to throw it away or just sell it to a random store either.” He explains. “At least I’ll know it’s in good hands with you.”
William sighs, shoulders sagging lightly, arm still outstretched while holding the medallion. “Are you sure?” he asks in slight defeat.
“I’m sure.”
“Really sure?”

Peter sighs in a slightly annoyed manner. “Yes, Will. I’m really, really, really sure.” He comments, rolling his eyes.
“Alright then I guess...” William sighs while placing the medallion down on the coffee table.
“The coffee not done yet?” Peter asks, changing the subject.
“Oh, right.” William moves back to the kitchen, having completely forgotten about the coffee due to the medallion. “Did you bring your milk?” he calls over.
“I did, I did. No worries, Will.” Peter calls back casually. William notes that, strangely enough, it almost sounds like Peter sound relieved. He shakes it off, figuring it to be his imagination as he pulls out a cup and pours the coffee into the cup and adds a spoon before taking it inside.
“I’m afraid I can’t stay too long, though.” Peter notes as the coffee is placed down in front of him.
“Oh? Do you have some more appointments?” William asks disappointed.
“Nah, I’m just really tired, you know. I’m heading to bed soon.”
William smiles slightly as he sits down in his chair. “Yeah, you might want to do that indeed.” He agrees. “We’ll see each other soon again, right?” he asks, wondering if a few days off mean he’ll get to see his friend some more again.
“Yeah, yeah. Of course we will.” Peter shrugs, rummaging through the pocket of his jacket and pulling out a small bottle of milk, uncapping it and letting some milk flow into the cup.
William smiles as he takes his cup of tea, placing it to his lips. Again, taking a sip of it fails as it is now too cold. He had been so caught up in his musings of the other visiting earlier that he completely forgot about finishing the tea. With a small sigh he sets it back down.
“So, what is going to happen between you and your little princess?” Peter asks, stirring his coffee with the small spoon.
“Sarah and I are still planning to get married once she turns thirty.” William smiles.
“Is that so?” Peter asks, amusement in his voice as he places the cup to his lips. “No plans of backing down yet?”
William laughs softly, shaking his head “No, no plans to back down yet.” He smiles at the other.
Peter takes a small sip of the hot coffee before taking the cup away from his lips again and holding it in his hands, letting the warmth seem through his cold fingers. “Man, if I’d have to wait so long just to get some I’d have gone nuts years ago.”
William shrugs lightly as he sits back again. “I don’t mind waiting. If Sarah wants to wait until after we get married I’ll respect that wish, I have no problems with that.”
“Well, rather you then me.” Peter snorts softly, taking another sip while his eyes drift to the medallion again. He opens his mouth for a few seconds, not sound coming out for a few seconds before he finally decides to talk “You know what? I’ll drink the coffee another time, I’m really tired.”
“Oh, are you sure?” William questions in surprise. Peter had never left before at least finishing his coffee, but with how the other looks now he doesn’t have too many problems with the other heading to bed soon.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” He places the cup down and gets up. “I’ll give you a call later so we can meet up again or something, alright?”
“Alright.” William smiles while getting up as well to show the other to the door.
Peter nods before starting to move to the front door, William in tow. He opens the door and steps out into the cold night before turning his eyes to the other. “Well, see you and good luck.”
“Good luck?” William asks, tilting his head to the side slightly in confusion. “Good luck with what?”
“Oh, nothing, nothing…” Peter murmurs before waving lightly as he starts to walk away.

William watches confused as the form of his best friend disappears around a corner and out of sight. He found this entire visit a tad strange to say the least, but he figures his friend’s behaviour was just due to being tired so he doesn’t think too much of it.
“Right, tea.” He murmurs while closing the door before making his way to the kitchen for yet another try at a nice cup of tea.
