Writing and Critiquing Tips- Plus personal help! -Open!-

As the tile suggests, this is a thread for general tips on critiquing your own works, and for writing in general. Also, if you want you can post a work you have or a link to a work you have. I'll critique it, or you can ask for others to critique it in the request post. I can PM a response, or write in the thread, depending on what you want.

You can also chat about writing in general. Your favorite and least parts of it, and what sort of stories you write. Why do you write? Anything else you can think of! If you have your own tips or websites, feel free to share! We'd love to know what you use.

Tips and tricks

Here's where any tips or tricks for writing and critiquing that I or others think of go.
  • When critiquing, try reading your work out loud. Does it flow naturally, or do you feel awkward reading it?
  • Got writer's block? Try talking your story over with a friend.

Here are where websites that are useful to writing can be found!

nanowrimo.org
Serious about writing a novel? Here you can find support and a challenge- write 50000 words in a month. Can you do it? I have faith you can.

writeordie.com
Invaluable for nano-ers, it's also good when you feel stuck in a spot and need a kick in the pants.

editminion.com
By the makers of write-or-die, use this in between writing projects or for essays to clean up your work.

shadowpoetry.com
For poets this website can give you ideas for new ways to write poetry. Quatrain, anyone?

fanfiction.net
Fanfiction can be a great way to dip your toes into writing! Use someone else's world, but your own plot.

If you want to have others critique your work, or I'm in the middle of the critique it'll be here! There will be either a link to the post, or a link to an outside website where they posted it.
